Family wedding weekend

We stayed here recently for our sister's wedding nearby. The accommodation was perfect for us and our family. The location was perfect. Loads of little shops near by. Parking was a doddle. Can't wait to return to Portsmouth again and we will definitely be staying here. X

Alison was an excellent host, giving us help to plan our stay including bus timetables. Spice cottage is a quirky historical building with stairs like those in a lighthouse. Comfortable furniture and brilliantly situated near the coast and the historic harbour. We particularly enjoyed the dday museum (our relatives) and the Mary Rose (us).Lots of good restaurants nearby, and the house extremely well equipped for cooking in the spacious kitchen. We easily got a parking place the first street on the left and just walked or bused everywhere.

Cute and convenient for family

Spice Cottage was exactly as described in the listing: a wonderful historic house convenient to Southsea and Portsmouth attractions. Beautiful woodwork (and stairs) give the feeling of staying in an antique ship without setting sail. The rooms are thoughtfully equipped and the kitchen well stocked. Our host was responsive and welcoming and made sure we had what we needed. What more could one want? Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage in a great location

Can highly recommend the Spice Cottage for a break in Portsmouth. The location is very good for the Hovercraft, Southsea and the seafront. Parking is very easy too. The cottage is very well equipped, immaculately clean and just a lovely relaxing place to stay. Our two year old boy loved the adventure of the stairs which with a little practice became easy to navigate. Alison was an exceptional host who left a brilliant guide for our stay and map for us when we arrived. Alison also was easy to communicate with and keen to make sure our stay was enjoyable. These little touches were really appreciated. Thank you Alison!

Location location location

Everything was great but where this cottage is, is the most important part. Near to everything!!! Beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked.....exactly what you need for a home away from home!!

Unique property in a great location

Spice Cottage in Southsea was perfect for our family. It is in walking distance to the shore, shopping, the train and the Hoverport to Isle of Wight. Alison has thought of everything you might need, and is so helpful. The staircase is so unique & fun, too! Would definitely stay here again.

Great cosy base for seeing Portsmouth

Cosy, comfy, and although it looks small from the outside it was large enough as a base for us + 3 teenagers going out in the day & staying in each evening. Had everything we needed & the owner couldn't have been more helpful. Although there's no reserved parking, in practice we got a space every day 1 minute away on the next street. The stairs are too steep for small kids or anyone with significant mobility issues (I think it says so on the listing) but other than that I'd recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location for the Common and Southsea shops.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is well equipped and comfy for the 5 of us. The only minor issue is the steep stairs that may be a problem for some people

Wonderful house in great location

Great house in a great location, walkable to the park, the beach, and shops. This had everything we need for our family of 5. Beds were great, shower was great, spacious kitchen, good dining space. Overall, a wonderful place - I would definitely recommend this to friends and family!

Great Location

Many Great Restaurants in close proximity. Co-op supermarket close by if one doesn't want to eat out. The Kitchen had all the tools and essentials to make our stay trouble free. Nice park/Ocean just about on the door step with everything else within 10 to 15 minute walk. We really enjoyed our stay. Portsmouth is a great place to visit and this place puts you in the middle of it.
