Very nice cabin, super close to town. Got all the ammenities you need, it's super clean and confortable. Owner was very responsive and text back righ away. Had a great time in Big Bear!
Great arrangement with two bedrooms upstairs and nice amenities. Wood burning fireplace was great, and back yard is spacious with fire pit. Only issue is kitchen is not very well outfitted, it took some work arounds to prepare a full meal. Washer and dryer very helpful! Location is walking distance to brew pub but all else requires a car. Great headquarters for Big Bear adventures!
Listing shows the check-in time at 3pm. This is what I planned for for the months prior that I held the booking. Apparently in a message I received from the owner the morning of (after I began my travel to arrive at 3pm) the owner changed the checkin time to 330pm. I ended up arriving a little early due to the lack of the typical holiday traffic and messages the owner if the cabin was available which it was not.
The communication with the owner was a little slow, never received an apology for the cabin not being available as advertised, and not friendly or welcoming as a host should be. The blankets in the cabin were not washed which is concerning during the times of Covid and makes me question the cleanliness of the rest of the house. I know this because when we arrived prior to housekeeping the blankets were scattered and balled up throughout the house. Housekeeping was not there long enough to launder them and the same blankets were simply folded up and available throughout the house.
Very little eating utensils, plates, and cups. Only one trash liner in the kitchen, none in the bathrooms and no extras to be found in the house. I usually bring my own trash bags, but typically rentals have their housekeeping line all the trash cans and make some additional liners available to guests. The house is actually seriously crooked and slanted downhill that you feel it when walking around. No DVD player, no dishwasher, very tiny kitchen, the digital front door lock is annoying to use and I realized the last night that the front lock bolt barely goes into the jam when locked due to misalignment of the door or bolt (essentially never truly locking the front door during our entire stay). Also if it matters to anyone traveling in a larger group, the listing also erroneously shows that it sleeps 8, but the occupancy listed in the wall plaque outside the house should 6 I believe, but definitely not 8.
Now for the good: nice location, quite street, good off the street parking, big fenced back yard, big dining room and table, wood burning stove works well, good ATT cell coverage, certain things in the cabin were more newly renovated.
