Nice house- poor sleeping

This was a nice little house to rent. Biggest problem is all beds were very poor sleeping quality. We use VRBO frequently and have to say this was the worst sleeping conditions. Everything else was nice with this house.

Great location! Love clubhouse bar and grill. Pool area very nice. Reasonable price.

A little under par on cleanliness, kitchen well stocked with decent pans and dishes. Plenty of linens, cold basement no way to shut down air conditioning.

The house location, layout and amenities were wonderful fit for our family. The house needs a deep clean, ie ceiling fan full of dust, corners of rooms not clean, walls dirty, etc. but superficial cleaning was done. We would love to stay here again, but would like deep cleaning done first.

Perfect for party of 8

The house had enough room for the 8 of us to spread out if we wanted, which was great with 3 teenage boys. The beds weren't that comfortable, but doable for a week. We spent some time at the clubhouse pool and everything was very well maintained. The house was perfect in terms of location. Close enough to get to anything in the dells in 15min or less, but far enough that we were removed from the busy traffic. We would definately stay again.

Access to Resort Pool Amenities

We had 6 kids and was required anywhere we stay has pool and hot tub. The SpringBrook resort has 2 outdoor pools and hot tubs and an indoor pool and hot tub. We utilized these daily. House was as described, the only surprise and 3-star rating was the house is near the freeway so it's really loud if you have the front door or windows open. Thermostat was controlled by Nest so wasn't sure we could touch that but would have liked it colder upstairs (downstairs was cool). Otherwise, everything else was good. Kids played air hockey and foosball. Many appliances (e.g. downstairs TV, clocks, etc.) were unplugged so you may need to plug in stuff to get it to work. Plenty of towels and for 7 days we finally ran out of toilet paper. You'll want to bring extra TP if you plan to stay for a week, and bring paper towels/napkins if you plan to eat there.

Great location

Location was great to downtown and water parks. Checking in process was quick. The outdoor/indoor pool/clubhouse was a 10 minute walk. The house does need some updating but it served our purpose of a home base. The interstate is pretty loud when sitting outside. The grill was on the small size with the size of our party (9).

The only issue we found was the traffic noise from I-90, but there isn’t anything the owner or company can do about that. Our instructions for swimming were to get pool bands, but they are using key cards now, so you may want to update that verbiage. Otherwise everything was smooth and the house was in great proximity to everything we did. If we were to visit the Dells again, we would likely stay here! The team had good communication before checking in, and left very clear instructions on what to do for check out. We did not need anything while staying.

Cleanliness is an issue

Nice house able to comfortably fit 10 adults, provided you are not opposed to futons or couches. A few of the amenities listed didn't work very well (air hockey table and mini fridge in basement). The cleanliness of the property was poor. We didn't go out of our way to clean it beyond what it looked like when we showed up, so not sure if that is going to come back to bite me or not. But I'm not cleaning floors, walls, and ceilings from the many stains and dirt piles that where there when we walked in. If I had a toddler this place would be a no-go. Another bit of concern was the property was very reluctant to give useful information prior to me actually being there. Inquiries of the rentals actual address and what the late check-in process was were met with unnecessary resistance. There are situations where planning itinerary is dependent on where homebase is. Also, traveling from far away may lead to unexpected delays where the last thing you want to add to you plate while driving is, "call us if you think you will be late and we'll cover the process then". Between the cloak and dagger information, the rental office looking terribly decrepit, and the employee literally sleeping when I arrived to check in, I did not have high hopes. But, again, it fit our needs and was comfortable enough for adults. If you are going to stay with family and chores, there are certainly nicer and cleaner places you should look to. If you are just using it as homebase for adults, it'll do...but still keep your options open. I would gladly paid a bit more for a better (cleaner & professional) location.

Dear Robert, We are in receipt of your review and apologize for any inconveniences you encounter. The owner was in prior to you and does her own cleaning when she departs. We have never had an issue with her cleaning in the 20 years she has been with us. Again I apologize for the issues. As for the lack of communication for late check in procedures and the resistance you received is not our normal practice. We would normally send out late arrival procedures when requested. Thank you for bringing this to my attention along with my employee sleeping in the office, he will be reprimanded. As for the office condition, that hurts, we have been here for over 37 years and never once has any guest complained about our quaint little office. Sorry you didn't like it. The house itself is nice. The cleanliness was definately lower than I would expect for the price we paid. Dining room chairs were stained. Bed in master was very comfortable but the other queen bed upstairs was very hard and uncomfortable. My daughter had a bug run up her leg while in one of the basement bedrooms. She thought it was a roach but they said it was a pine beetle and common because of the pine trees. Tami at the office was a gem, very responsive to our concerns! Sent the maintenance man to fix things, he was very nice. George at the office was very friendly. We were able to buy some discounted Noah's Ark tickets from the office.

Large house that met our needs

Large house with room to spread out, with several sleeping spaces. Plenty of towels. Good have used extra bed linens, as there would not have been enough if all sleeping spaces had been needed. The kitchen was well stocked, but needs to be organized. It’s hard to know what you have without some level of order. Dishwasher soap was provided, but no soap for washing things in the sink. Toilet paper was provided but no paper towels. The house was clean, but the stove could have used more of a deep cleaning. Greasy knobs and grease streaks down the wall from the hood that I had to clean. The location is great and close to all the stuff. The clubhouse and pool were nice amenities as well. But, I have to know what’s up with the dryer. It’s in its own weird closet completely separate from the washer. Overall, a very pleasant stay and would recommend this property.
