Discover the diverse wildlife. Savor a glass of wine by the half acre fly fishing pond or bring your rod and catch a few big mouth bass before the resident blue heron gets them. Relax, unwind, and escape your everyday routine.
Your private pastoral drive takes you past the vineyards and pond, with willows and water lilies, to the present barn where stables have been converted to a small family winery.

Guests are welcome to use the swimming pool in the summer, but the pool, while private, is closer to the main house than the cottage. Most often, guests will have the pool to themselves. However, it is shared when the grandchildren come to visit.
There is a variety of information in the cottage to help you with planning your activities and sample restaurant menus for your dining adventures. Your hosts have lived in the valley for over 30 years and are always happy to help with further information and planning,

What a beautiful place to stay! We stayed here for one month for the Thanksgiving holiday with our two large labrador retrievers, and couldn’t have asked for more. My Labs will surely miss swimming in the beautiful pond, and open land where we took walks daily. The rental had a very nice enclosed gated area where we never had to worry when we left our dogs alone. The home was fully stocked with everything we could ask for. Pieter and his wife, Karen, were very accommodating and helpful in anyway we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was perfect. It had everything we needed. The ride into town was only about 10 minutes to the Sonoma square where there is so much to do! It was hard to leave this place!
What a great spot to get lost in nature, but still be close enough to town to enjoy all that wine country has to offer. My wife and I stayed here a week for our 25th anniversary. We caught a mess of bass in the pond, saw all kinds of birds from the back porch while drinking our coffee, saw deer about every day, and one day, a coyote hanging out in a field in the neighborhood. The wildlife was as spectacular as the views. Just a very peaceful place to call home base while touring Sonoma, Napa, Calistoga, and all the surrounding areas.
The unit itself was very tastefully appointed, with everything we needed for the stay. My wife is a great cook, and she did not want for anything in the kitchen. Everything was very clean and comfortable, save for the mattress, which is likely near the end of its lifecycle. Bring an extra pillow to lean your back on, and the mattress problem is solved.
Maybe two days into our stay, we looked at each other and said we would DEFINITELY stay here again. Such a great way to spend our time NOT at a winery. Pieter and Karen were very gracious hosts, and communication was top-notch! Thank you both for your time and hospitality.

Thank you for your nice comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We are, however, puzzled by your comments on the mattress. It is a very expensive, top quality 10 inch Talalay organic latex mattress purchased less than five years ago with very little use. We and our family have checked the mattress ourselves and find it very comfortable.
We wanted to be within driving distance to downtown but did not actually want to be in that area. This was absolutely perfect as it was only 5 to 10 minutes to town. Our place was so reclusive. We felt like we were at a retreat. We enjoyed walking around and fishing the pond, looking at the vineyards, Enjoying all of the birds and nature on the back patio, and even enjoyed the pool for a short time which has the most amazing views! The hosts were extremely gracious, warm and friendly, and helpful. We absolutely would highly recommend this to anyone! It was just the three of us so my husband and I took the master bedroom and our 19-year-old son took the spare room and made the couch into a bed.
What a perfect getaway. Very comfortable and pleasant experience.
Wonderful hospitality. Comfortable and updated accommodations. Loved the screen in porch, especially for bird watching. Perfect dog friendly fenced in backyard and the pond and vineyard was a great place for a short walk.
Wonderful, large pool, easy access to hiking trails, peaceful, scenic, fireplace, charming cottage, lg kitchen, birdwatching, sweet lake, and more. Delightful!!!
The property was nicer than expected. The hosts were very gracious and attentive to any needs. Picked fresh fruit from their small orchard, caught bass in the pond and drank the owners wine that they shared. Lots of fun and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
We had an amazing time at Pieter and Karen’s beautiful property. Our two dogs joined us which were quite welcome and the Suite was spectacular! As a fly fisherman the pond was lots of fun and I lost count of how many bass I caught. We will definitely be returning!
This place is really special. The owners, Pieter and Karen, were lovely and super easy to work with. The converted stable feels absolutely nothing like a stable---it's so comfortable and well appointed, we were able to relax the second we arrived. The grounds are stunning and they go on and on and on. Our pooch loved having her own little yard, but also the bigger acreage to walk with us each morning. It was February, so a little cold for the sun porch, but I can imagine it would be bliss in slightly warmer weather. This is a really unique place for anyone looking to get away for a while, but also to be 10 mins from all Sonoma has to offer. Highly recommend!
We loved this amazing property in a stunning setting just 10 minutes away from Sonoma. The converted stable has been very tastefully done, was spotless and had everything we needed in the really well stocked kitchen. The owners, Pieter and Karen, are the kindest and most helpful hosts we’ve had in our travels! Even our Tesla was taken care of with a level 2 charger that Pieter generously allowed us to use every night. The property is extremely dog friendly and our Labradoodle had an amazing time walking the many acres of the property and swimming in the pond. Wine tasting was on tap and our hosts had plenty of great recommendations. 5 star all the way!
What an amazing and breathtaking spot for our 20th anniversary celebration! Karen and Pieter are the perfect hosts, very friendly and welcoming yet respected our privacy. The property is in a great location. It feels like you are in the middle of your own private oasis yet close to amenities and wineries. We loved relaxing by the pond in the Adirondack chairs, watching the wildlife and beautiful scenery. We did not want to leave.
Thank you, Karen and Pieter! We cannot wait to return.
Wonderful and well equipped guest house on beautiful property
This property is a cottage with the main property next door. It is clean, well decorated, spacious and quiet. There is everything you need. The hosts are great. We had a very easy check in and checkout and they made sure we had everything we needed.
This is the first time we've stayed in a property that is better than the pictures show. Don't be fooled by "converted stable." It's large and beautiful. We brought our dog, and she loved exploring all the new sights and smells. All in all a great find.
Karen and Pieter’s place is perfect for a stay in Sonoma. It is much bigger than the pictures let on, is stocked with everything you need, and is only 10 minutes from downtown Sonoma. They were also incredible hosts - very friendly and communicative. I would definitely stay here agajn for my next trip to wine country.
Karen and Pieter are incredible people and amazing hosts! They went above and beyond to accommodate us in their lovely home. Their dog, Fritzie, is our dog’s new best friend and they enjoyed running around the property and swimming in the pond together! If you are looking for privacy, space and relaxation this may be exactly what you are looking for!
What a wonderful property ! So many things to write about from the pond out the kitchen window to the amazing hiking trails,, my dogs were in Heaven and so were we ! Wonderful hosts !!
My husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary with our first getaway during the pandemic. We couldn't have been happier with this property. The house was lovely and stocked with half & half, coffee, etc. The property is gorgeous and our dog LOVED swimming in the pond. We felt safe and comfortable during our stay. We hope to return soon!
The converted barn was absolutely beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable. So much so we didn’t want to leave! Then to be able to walk out the front door and take in the surrounding landscape was absolutely breathtaking. The drive into town was easy and no more than 10 minutes away. Pieter and Karen were wonderful hosts and we are grateful that they were willing to share their home as a place for us to stay.
