Welcome to Buxton Cottage - The Skipper.

The antithesis of modern day Hatteras Island. Come enjoy this cozy 1950’s beach cottage freshly updated with all the modern amenities. This two bedroom, one bath getaway will cater to all your needs.

The Skipper has two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen fully equipped, TV, internet, Wi-Fi, all linens are provided (4 bath towels and each bed has 1 set of sheets), complimentary items such as one roll of toilet paper, coffee filters and trash bags. Puzzles, cards. Parking and outside seating on the balcony. Outdoor Shower with sink!

NOTE: This is triplex (3 units) and the Skipper is located upstairs with a flight of stairs to the front door. Therefore, it is not well suited for the handicapped or elderly.

IMPORTANT: Ideal for 2-3 people. Maximum occupancy of 4 people is strictly enforced. Buxton Cottage is NOT to be used for group events or gatherings. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED. Failure to comply will result in eviction without a refund.

Relax at the heart of the island. Buxton is centrally located between all of the best spots to kiteboard, wind surf, fish, beach access, surf, paddleboard, walk, hike, and bike. Just few minutes’ drive to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and beaches. You can walk to the Lighthouse beaches, and restaurants. Everything is within walking or biking distance.

Just 1.8 miles from one of the premier kiteboarding locations, Kite Point. Buxton Cottage is 6 lots in from the Atlantic Ocean. Walk to the ocean and enjoy your morning cup of coffee while watching the sunrise... Then enjoy 6.8 miles down winders from Kite Point to North Avon pull out. Or even further if you’d like! We are sure this beach cottage will meet all your getaway needs!

Very nice property just a short walk from the beach. From the beach, you can easily walk to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, although it was unfortunately under renovation during our stay. The house is spacious, and the outdoor shower was a great feature after spending time at the beach. The host was very helpful, responsive, and easy to communicate.

The place is so much better than the photos! We loved the cabin feel if the place, and it had everything we needed. It was fun to explore the island, the beaches, museums and restaurants! One thing to be aware of is that the beaches nearest to the house is not good for swimming because of hazards under the water from fallen houses. However, a very short drive in any direction will take you to gorgeous beaches! We loved a beach just 2 miles north.

Linda was super friendly. Check in was easy. Super easy quick walk to the beach. House is small. But we spent most of our time out and about so it was fine. Nice area. We had a LOT of fun. And being so close to the beach was nice, and convenient. I would definitely recommend. One issue came up, but it was addressed quickly and resolved quickly. Linda and her husband we really easy to talk to.

Our stay was very nice, the climate control in the rental was wonderful especially with the hot beach days. It was clean and I loved that there was a smart tv to stream on in the evenings. We brought our own board games but I appreciated that there were some provided. The rooms were also very clean and comfortable.

My daughter and I enjoyed our short stay. The apartment is 5 minute walk from the beach. Communication with the host was excellent! I would recommend with place for a small family.

This is my second time staying here. The kutchen is well stocked. The location is great. Its just a short walk to the beach. The owners are very nice.

I received a phone call less than 24 hours prior to check-in that the refrigerator was broken and wouldn't be fixed until after we departed. Since a functioning kitchen was one of the main reasons we made this booking, this was a huge inconvenience and added unforeseen expenses that we did not prepare for. The host did offer to completely refund our booking; however, both adults had arranged for time off from work and a custody agreement was in play here, and it was not feasible to reschedule. Nor would it be possible to find another accommodation last-minute on the Outer Banks during the last part of July. The refrigerator did end up getting repaired a day before we left. We were not able to use it until the evening before we left - approximately 14 total hours of our stay. Later that evening, the air conditioning went out, which made it impossible to sleep and uncomfortable to be in the unit. When the host was contacted about this, her response was, "So sorry - hopefully it's just the freon". The host did not offer any compensation for our discomfort and inconvenience. I would definitely NOT stay at one of her properties again.

OBX Getaway

My husband and I loved the cozy beach cottage apartment for our OBX getaway. It had everything to make our stay comfortable. Linda was a fabulous hostess as well. The location is also perfect as it’s close to stores and restaurants. Highly recommend this property!

Calm and Peaceful!

The Skipper was cozy and comfortable. Plenty of space for us. Comfy beds! The kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach. Groceries and beach shopping was less than a mile away. This is our 2nd year at this property.
