The house was beautiful and very spacious! And the owner was extremely helpful sending suggestions for our family since it was our first trip to Sapphire.
Kitchen was the best equipped of any place any of us has stayed. It was so easy to slip in and have a lovely vacation without worrying about if we had what we needed. Everything was right at our fingertips - kitchen with storage items for leftovers, spices and oils for cooking, plenty of towels, and lots of space for our things. Rooms were clean and comfortable and well-appointed. TVs with clear instructions on use and access to streaming services. Lots of comfy seating for shared time in the main rooms, porch, and fire pit. Host was very helpful checking in and answering a couple questions for us. It's clear the host loves this home as their own and shares it with you.
We loved the view, fishing in the nearby lake, playing games, hiking and cooking. Our family had plenty of room. Great location and home!

Thank you for taking time to write a review on your stay. So glad your family enjoyed the spacious house and indoor entertainment. Hopefully I can host you again when there isn’t a tropical depression moving through. Scott
We had a fantastic stay; a perfect house for a family getaway! Booking and check-in were a breeze, thanks to an easy process. The owner was excellent to work with, and the house was not only clean but also fully stocked with everything we needed. The location was perfect, just a short drive to the recreation center where our family enjoyed skiing and tubing. Highly recommended!
We loved our stay at Mountain Eyes! The house was so well appointed and cozy and had so many little extras that made our vacation carefree. The house was so clean and well cared for. The kitchen was well stocked for staple items and extras of consumables were at the ready to make cooking a breeze! The host communication was friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again!

Melissa, glad you enjoyed the “land of the waterfalls”. We try to anticipate guests needs so it’s nice to know we have “anything and everything”. Your group was fantastic. Scott
Our family and another family friends had the most amazing stay here. The owner ensures everything you may need is fully stocked and the house is super clean and comfortable. The views from the large porch are spectacular. The large basement included games and toys for all ages to play. The location is perfect super close to everything we came to do. We can’t wait to come back this summer to explore more.
This is an awesome property with gorgeous views. It is nicely decorated, very clean and well stocked. It had everything we needed and more. We came for a wedding in the area and had all adults. And yes, we did play some skee ball. I enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the wonderful view. Our host was so helpful and made sure we enjoyed our stay. If I’m in the area again, I would love to stay here again.
It was perfect for our extended family of 3 adults and 3 teenage boys. The house was very clean and well supplied. The owner was very responsive and his directions plus notes about the house were beyond thorough! We love being in the mountains.
Everything was perfect! Scott was great to work with. The house had everything we needed and more. Adults and kids loved it! We had such a relaxing trip. Very central location to ski area, waterfalls/hikes, grocery, restaurants, etc. will definitely be back.

Excellent property! Perfect for our family of 7 adults. Plenty of room for everyone. We loved exploring the nearby towns of Cashiers, Highlands and Brevard. Enjoyed seeing a few waterfalls and loved the hike around Fairfield Lake. We will definitely put this property on the list of places to return. Thank you Scott!!

Beautiful View and Lovely Hikes
The home was everything we hoped, clean, comfortable and stylishly furnished. We loved the lake hike and watching the sunsets over the mountains. We have climbed Chimney Top and Rock Mountain many times in the past. This is the first time we stayed in a place that looked right over them. We will be returning again next year.

Glad to see that you have reserved another stay. We have added a double hoop basketball arcade in the game area since your stay.
This mountain house was perfect for us to spend Thanksgiving week with adult children and grandchildren. There were many games and activities available for the children and the location was in close proximity to many other fun things to do. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped. We all agreed we want to come back and highly recommend it to anyone else looking for a house in this area.
Excellent house, with plenty of room, a fully stocked kitchen, and beautiful views. We had 8 family members and there was room for us everywhere. We never bumped into each other or had to go in search of seating. We found great hiking nearby and loved going shopping in Highlands. Thanks for such a great property, we will return.
Beautiful views, very clean, thoroughly stocked, and (so very important...) comfy beds! What more do you need??
p.s. The addition of the "bear proof" trash cans was helpful...AND did prove to be bear proof, as we spotted a momma and 3 cubs hoping for a snack.

Thank you Vicki. We pride ourselves on comfort and cleanliness. Hope you and your family can return next year. Scott
The house was just as described and was perfect for our family vacation kids aged from 23 months to 9 years old. Scott was attentive and answered questions quickly. The boys loved the downstairs game room plus it was great for the adults to have our own space. We loved having fires in the evenings, playing board games and had lots of laughs. The house is close to sapphire and cashiers. 20 minute drive to Highlands. Perfect location
We were very pleased with our stay at Those Mountain Eyes! The home was very clean, beautifully decorated and very welcoming. The welcome note on the table and the placemats and napkins on the dining table set the tone for our stay. The kitchen was well appointed for all our needs. Bearing in mind that we are all seniors, we would suggest that you might consider installing grab bars in the toilet area and an additional one in the showers. Should you ever need to replace the toilets in the future please consider comfort height toilets. We would like to thank Scott for being an excellent host, and helping to make our stay so enjoyable!

John, thank you for the great review. Cleanliness is always mentioned in a favorable way. Five Comfort height toilets are being installed next week and grab bars by year end. Appreciate your feedback regarding those. I hope you find them to your liking when you return next year. Scott
This house is now our official home away from home for the MLK holiday weekend. Scott, the owner, is kind, generous and easy to communicate with. The house has beautiful views and so many comfort amenities. This is our third year coming with three families (kids from 7-14) and no one is ever bored (kids never want to leave). In addition to snow tubing this year, we took advantage of indoor pool and skiing (great lesson by Zach)! We missed out on fire pit with last year’s snowmageddon, but got plenty of s’mores made this year. It’s simply a perfect home for multi-family reunions and we can’t wait to go back!

It’s great to have you back Hilary. We love repeat guests. It’s such a convenient location to all the amenities. Glad you enjoyed the snow tubing again. I know your group was hoping for snow again but you just never know in the mountains. Thanks for taking the time to review. Scott
The property had everything we needed for our family and the layout was absolutely perfect! Our boys had a blast playing with all of the toys downstairs and making s’mores every night outside by the fire. My husband and I stayed in the loft and loved walking up to the view of the mountains. We cooked every night at the house and the kitchen had everything we needed. We loved having access to the Sapphire Valley Rec Center too. The kids played on the playground, did putt putt golf and played in the snow (they were prepping the ski slopes). And the location was perfect! Close to Cashiers, Highlands and Glenville. We even made a trip to Bryson City to go on the Polar Express. We will absolutely rent this house again next time we go back!

Emily, thank you for taking the time to provide this wonderful review. We enjoy the loft suite as well. Glad the house had everything you needed and that you enjoyed the ideal location near the amenities. You are welcome back anytime. Thanks
I stay in VRBO homes or condos every time I vacation, and Those Mountain Eyes is one of the nicest and cleanest places I've ever stayed. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was WELL stocked and easy to work in, there were games, DVDs, and puzzles galore, and the host was super communicative.
We loved the gorgeous deck and the views can't be beat. You fee like you're in the middle of nowhere, yet restaurants and the grocery store are less than 10 minutes away. And the amenities were fantastic!
Traveling during the Covid-19 pandemic was a risk and something I was very nervous about, but I felt safer during our trip than I do at home. Not only was the house super clean (they even left us some clorox wipes), the community was doing a fantastic job of social distancing and wearing masks. Almost all of the area restaurants have outdoor seating, and even in June/July the weather was perfect for sitting outside.
We loved the area, we loved the home. We'll definitely be back!

Thank you for your kind words. I am thrilled you enjoyed your stay and felt safe due to cleanliness and comfortable in the home. BTW the cleaning service commented on how clean you kept the property during your stay. This allows me to keep the cleaning costs reasonable so thank you again. Hope to host you again soon. About the host
Hosted by Those Mountain Eyes
We currently own vacant lots and this house on Gold Creek. Previously have owned a house near Lake Glenville. We have been visiting the Cashiers area for over 20 years.
Why they chose this property
While there may be some areas that are beautiful as well, most do not have the elevation of Cashiers to have cool summers. We call it free air conditioned air. This house is spacious, has a great view and is close to Sapphire Valley Resort and all the amenities.
What makes this property unique
Hike to Fairfield Lake to boat, fish, hike Bald Rock or walk the lake trail.
