About this property

The Shepherd's Rest with alpaca, sheep & outdoor bath.<br>Close to Oamaru.


The Shepherd's Rest is located on a 300 acre working bull beef farm but only a 5 minute drive to central Oamaru. Our location is perfect for those who want to explore Oamaru and the Waitaki area but also want to escape to the country.

It is ideal for 2 adults.

The Shepherds Rest is a cosy shepherds hut, a tiny house experience with a bit of glamping thrown in!

Unwind in the outdoor gas heated bathtub.

Enjoy the view and say hi to our alpacas and pet sheep. Be entertained by their antics. We provide food so you can feed them.

Sleep well in the queen size bed with fairy lights above for a bit of magical effect.

It has a kitchenette with a mini fridge, rice cooker, 2 ring cook top, electric jug and toaster as well as crockery and cutlery. Gas Barbecue outside.

It has an ensuite bathroom with a shower, vanity and Bambooloo composting toilet.

Linen and towels provided.

Cape Cod chairs outside so sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the views. Great for stargazing at night and outlook is towards the Kakanui Ranges.

There is NO WIFI - the idea is to unwind and escape technology for a bit. There is a selection of games and books to keep you amused.

Maximum of 2 adults and no children.

Loved 'Shepherd's Rest'! Felt welcomed by Jennie; we were comfortable and well settled. Outdoor bath was a hit, as was being greeted by the friendly alpacas and sheep each morning. Really quiet while still having the town accessible. Would highly recommend for an Omarau stay.

The hut/tiny house was just beautiful! Cosy and welcoming, with the gently curved tongue in groove ceiling adding a sense of restfulness to it. The vista from the hut was stunning too. Idyllic!

What an amazing wee place to stay. Really clean and tidy. Welcoming, warm (heater was on for us) and inviting. Bed was so comfortable! We didnt get to use the outside bath, due to weather, but on clear night it would have been amazing.

What a complete gem. The hut was so tastefully and comfortably appointed with great little touches like board games, alpaca food and welcome chocolates. The location and views were delightful, so close to Oamaru but with a lovely rural outlook. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway.

Our family has have been hosting B&B guests for almost 6 years and The Shepherd's Rest is the latest addition to our farm, giving guests privacy and their own unique space.
We rear and fatten bulls and run a small flock of sheep, a lifestyle we love. Apart from working we also enjoy gardening, hiking, cooking and carpentry.

Why they chose this property

We love that while we live in a rural location the town of Oamaru is only a 5 - 10 minutes drive away! We get country living with the convenience of town and all its amenities.
