This is a great place to enjoy some peace and quiet. No noise from traffic or neighbors, only nature at its finest. House is unique with a beautiful fireplace and there's plenty of land to explore. On our list of places to hopefully visit again and again.
I greatly enjoyed my two night stay at this quiet and secluded location. It is truly a sanctuary and a place of respite from noise and crowds. I also appreciated the unique design and theme of the house, and its half-moon shape was very distinctive and unusual. The host was very responsive as well. I highly recommend this private getaway for anyone looking to unwind and be surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Half moon house is charming with carefully chosen touches that evoke the house’s name. A stunning stone fireplace centers the design. It’s a lovely house.Kitchen is well set up for cooking but not for eating. We found only plastic plates, which made dining a little challenging. The bed linens are abundant, as are comforters for warmth. The towels were plentiful but roughWe had a spot of difficulty but the host rose to the challenge immediately and thoroughly. We were grateful for her attentiveness and concern.
Cool architecture, beautiful views, and extremely quiet
Everything was great. The Wifi goes in and out but is fine when it's working. They're working on installing a new internet service. Otherwise, it was a nice place to spend 10 days, and the owner was very helpful in answering questions and getting me set up. It's definitely remote, but that's the idea. It's only 15-20 minutes to a supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants etc.
Brenda was an amazing host. She went out of her way to help us when our truck was stranded. Her home is warm and inviting and QUIET! It is our second time visiting the property and we can’t wait to go back!
This was our third stay at Half Moon House. We just love it there. So quiet and peaceful. The house is fully equipped and very comfortable. Brenda is super responsive to any questions. We explored the area more this time and found more hiking spots. Very pretty area. Large Hannaford's about 15 minutes away makes it easy to grab any groceries you need. We mostly ate at the house (there's a charcoal grill, if you like to grill). Great birdwatching and star viewing location. If you like quiet, you'll love this place.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Half Moon House! We were lucky enough to come when there was snow on the ground, so the surroundings (mountains, forest, etc.) were just beautiful. The huge fireplace truly is a centerpiece of the house - we used it every day to warm up and relax after spending most of our time hiking and skiing outside. We hope to come back sometime soon!
I know New England except for this area. So glad I had the opportunity to see this part. But to have this gem of a haven of comfort made it a special visit.
We came to Vermont to snowmobile and received about 2’ of snow while we were there. Very close and easy access to VAST trails. The place was amazing. The view is incredible. The host was very responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend staying at the half moon house and can’t wait to come back. 10/10 for sure!!!
The home is one-of-a-kind, perched atop a hill for a beautiful (nearly) floor-to-ceiling view. The photos don't quite do it justice. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet respite in a hidden corner of Vermont. Just bring your AWD vehicle.
My Fiancé and I and our dogs spent 5 amazing days at the Half Moon House. The property exceeded our expectations. Super cozy, extremely private, with tons of funky décor. The views were gorgeous. There is a huge field behind the house full of wildflowers that we loved meandering through with the dogs. Super cool, well maintained old cemetery off the drive that we enjoyed exploring. We have been visiting VT for many years and this is by far our favorite place we have stayed! Thank you so much Brenda!

Perfect for what we needed.
Brenda was great from the start to the end and she was very informative. The house was the perfect size for myself, my husband and two kids. We didn't cook there but the kitchen was ample enough to make a simple meal if you needed to. The fireplace was beautiful and it was all set up and ready to light when we first arrived. The house was clean and warm. All the Christmas lights around the house was a nice touch. Would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.
The photos don't do this place justice. Nestled up in the woods, this place is extremely private and has a huge yard and surrounding woods to explore. There's no cell service, but there is wifi. The house was very clean, but is a bit old so we weren't surprised to encounter some dust during our stay. There is a steep hill to climb to get up to the property, and there aren't stairs or a paved path, so just something to be mindful of when booking. The host was lovely and very communicative. This property is officially on our short list to stay again.
The photos here made me feel this booking was a gamble and it paid off! The Half-Moon house is such a special place. Staying during the fall was gorgeous. The views from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom of colorful foliage were breathtaking. We wandered the property a bit and wished we had brought our dog - so much room to explore, including a very old, but still in use, tiny cemetery about halfway up the private road. The house itself is small but cozy and the design is special. The stone fireplace is amazing structure and we loved using and gazing at the crackling fires every night - everything needed was provided. The road and driveway were fine in fall with our little Prius but you would need a 4WD or plan to hike in during the winter. The living rm furniture wasn’t the most comfortable and it could have been a little cleaner in a couple of spots but this place was more than worth that small tradeoff. Can’t wait to come back!
Very clean. Amazing fireplace. Stunning view! I've been there several times every years for six years. I plan on going every year coming also! Beautiful, clean private and relaxing!
Fabulously private location. Great views, Open access to the outside from all of the many windows. Wonderful trails and running spaces for the dogs. Exceptionally comfortable bedrooms, cozy, quiet bliss !!! - Hope to return in the future
The pictures don’t do it justice. You are have total privacy. My dog had so much room to roam. The home is so unique. We had a wonderful time. We were there for the 4th of July and sat at a bon fire and saw fireworks over the tops of the trees. Brenda is so gracious and friendly. We hope to go back.
What a special place! The house is beautifully situated for sunrises and sunsets and the fireplace was spectacular! The kitchen is truly fully equipped and Brenda was quick to respond to any questions that we had. This was a wonderful place to unplug and unwind. We had a great time and plan to visit again
My husband and I spent a lovely winter weekend at the Half Moon House. Our goal was to find a scenic, private place to stay far away from the city (and our kid, who spent the weekend with grandma). We found just what we were seeking! We ate breakfast in a sun soaked living room, went on a hike at nearby Wright Mountain, cuddled up near the giant fireplace in the evening, and saw so many stars (and three planets) when we went star gazing out in the field. The long dirt driveway was very well maintained and our little Nissan Versa did just fine getting up the hill (though it would have been in a challenge in an actual snow storm or mud season).
