About this property
UNIQUE HISTORIC COTTAGE - SPRINGHOUSE 1803
If you are looking for a unique place to stay, come stay at Springhouse 1803. There really is a natural spring under and around the home. The restoration is in the final phases and this beautiful home is ready for life again after sitting empty for 20+ years. SUMMER 2025 - We are currently scraping, power washing, sanding the exterior of the house between guests in preparation for a new paint job. So, the house might be in various stages of painting.
IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES, THIS IS NOT THE HOUSE FOR YOU. This is a historic colonial house with tight steep stairs and some low doorways and ceilings. Both sets of steps have a corkscrew turn in them. Not recommended for toddlers/young children due to steep steps. Older children should be able to navigate the steps. We are located just outside the city limits but you would never know the city was right around the corner with the solitude of the house. Come sit on the porch and watch the birds and listen to the trickling of water. Sit in the spring room and relax and watch the water bubbling out of the ground. (closed in winter) NOT A PARTY HOUSE, OWNER IS ON SITE If the house is ready, you can check in at 3pm, please contact me if you wish to check in before 4pm. If you see blocked days at the beginning and end of a block, you can reach out to confirm if the house is available if you want one of those days. It might be available if the cleaning has already been done.

We only stayed overnight and we're on our way the next morning, so we didn't use the kitchen other than for coffee. It was such a fun place to stay as it was modernized, but let you imagine stepping back in time. I loved all of the things that made it unique
Incredibly unique and cozy house. The host was amazing and responsive with any questions. 7min drive to Hagerstown Historic District. Being from Philly, it was nice to see the wildlife around the house. So many birds I never get to see, a groundhog, a cave salamander, a few neighborhood kitties, and cute doggies. I would love to live in the house!!
Quiet, clean, comfortable. Yes it’s a very old house, restored, and just what I wanted. I was tracing family roots and this had the charm I was looking for
Loved this historic home located in a peaceful picturesque location yet minutes from so much to see and do. Great opportunity to expose grandkids to how things were 220 years ago and explain significance of a spring house back then. Sitting on the big porch watching birds and kids was a treat for this grandma.
My daughter and I stayed at the Springhouse and it was an awesome experience. The house has a ton of character and the property is beautiful even in the winter. We also enjoyed the PA Dutch market which is only a few mins down the road.
Lovely historic atmosphere, cozy, clean, charming. All bedrooms are on 2nd floor, steep narrow stairs might be an issue for some. Minimal privacy, bedrooms only separated by a curtain or a sliding door. But I would come back to stay again and again.
Awesome property. The owner kept the house super clean and neat. It was close to stores and she was very easy to contact regarding any questions. Definitely recommend staying here
We really enjoyed staying at the springhouse! The living area was really cozy on a cold winter's night, with couches and blankets aplenty. The kitchen was well equiped and had everything we needed. And we loved having the opportunity to stay in such a unique, historical home. Thanks for hosting us!
