Perfect Place for Families and Friends to Retreat Together
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bellavita despite not having very good cell service (not the owner's fault whatsoever!). The layout allows for plenty of together time--but also makes it possible for folks to retreat to their own living quarters. The views of the lake are quite spectacular. As is the case all up and down the western coast of Michigan, due to the unprecedently high water levels, there has been some erosion that the owners have clearly tried to deal with. Be advised that beach access (at least for now) is a bit challenging for little kids and elderly folk. Stock up on firewood on your way there--you won't want to miss a single moment of those glorious sunsets! The kitchen is super-well stocked as far as appliances and tableware. The boat house is charming--and really the only thing that wasn't quite accurate in terms of the photos. During our stay it was full of all sorts of beach chairs and random, half-used bags of charcoal as well as a kayak paddle (but no kayak!). NBD--you can do yoga in the yard! All in all, well worth the time and expense (especially if folks pool their resources to split the cost). Two thumbs up!

Misleading
The home was beautiful and a good set up for multiple families. I feel the description was inaccurate regarding beach access. The pictures imply the beach is level with the house, when in fact, it’s such a drop off, a ladder is required to get to the beach. It was unsafe for my young grandchildren just to get down to the water to play. We intentionally rented this property because of the beach access. It was a huge disappointment. There was a staircase to the beach, which was collapsed and wrapped with caution tape. There were stumps in the middle of the parking area, short enough not to see, but tall enough to do damage to a vehicle, which were run over multiple times. The lawn furniture was out dated and the charcoal grill was small. A beautiful house like this, should be maintained and updated, especially for what is charged to use the property.

Bellavita
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: -Grounds unkept, minimal outdoor furniture mismatched and old, 20 to 30 foot of grounds gone due to storm. No Beach, 8 foot drop to water, Stairs from view deck to water broke in half. Outdoor stairs covered with large cobwebs, spiders an dead bugs, decks were not swept, broken toys, rafts and etc under deck. foot wash basin and hose extremely dirty and laying in stagnant water, bad mosquito problem by stream at front of property. Indoors - Had to clean refrigerator before able to put our food away. Coffee still in coffee pot and coffeemaker very dirty, had to clean thoroughly before using. Ceiling fan blades very dusty. Microwave installed very high above stove and proved to be quite dangerous when removing hot items. Entire House needs a deep cleaning and reorganization of kitchen drawers. (Management was quick to respond and did have people come back to clean and do minimal outdoor cleaning, however, there was much more that needed to be cleaned that we did not notice until after they left because we were all trying to unpack and make dinner.) Cobwebs in many different areas, very dusty under beds, had to sweep ourselves. One key for the property (we were promised more but none came) Interior furniture is very worn and there is not enough seating in first floor living area. (only one couch, need at least 2 occasional chairs) Mattresses in ALL bedrooms need replaced. All dip down in middle and are quite uncomfortable. Comforters need to be washed, musty smelling. Refrigerators are a very basic model with no icemakers and are very small, however there is one of these refrigerators on each floor. This could be a great property but not in this state. We understand that Lake M and her beaches are ever changing and that the owners/management can not be responsible for this but beach/outdoor website pictures should be updated to reflect true current conditions.

Great house for multiple families
A great place to enjoy families, both inside and outside. Spacious with privacy for individual families. Wonderful, spacious area on first floor for family gatherings. Tremendous views of the lake from each of the three levels. Outside views and sunsets were amazing.

It Worked but underwhelming
Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Before this week I was so excited to give this place a 5 star review from the pictures on the website and the description of the house. So I am sad and very disappointed in our overall experience at this house. To start with the positives, it was great that we all had our own spaces in the house and multiple showers/bathrooms. When you have that many people you will take everything you can get. You also can't beat the sunsets on Lake Michigan, so this property (and fire pit area) was perfect for those! It was close to downtown etc. However, the beach front was VERY disappointing. I understand that Mother Nature has a mind of her own, however, even with a 2-week warning we were told we had beach front- FALSE. Some of my family members never even went down to the beach because they had a rickety ladder to get up and down (glad we found a public beach from a local in Onekama-wish the owners would've suggested it when they saw their "beachfront" was gone since that is what we paid for). Also, if you have a house that lists it can house more than 15 people WHY do you only have 5 outdoors to sit on? I think we spent more money on lawn chairs just so everyone had a seat than food for the week! The ones provided were falling apart and were very uncomfortable. The TV Room area was pretty disappointing as well because although we wanted to be outside when we could, sometimes it's nice to throw on a movie for the kids but there was barely any seating for them! The living room seating, had a nice large sofa, but that was it -it would have been to have some armchairs or more comfortable seating to enjoy cooking together. I could go on and on but I am running out of "characters" allotted for this experience section. I love Northern Michigan and am smart enough to understand that some of these issues are not the renters fault however, most are, and therefore it is unlikely I will recommend this location unless what future guests are looking for is this kind of set up.
