Maui temperatures seem to keep going up so please note Kama'ole Sands 1-405 has a "three zone split air conditioning system". When the trade winds aren't blowing, you'll be glad 1-405 will be a cool place for you to recharge for the next day!

So, Kama'ole Sands. This is a great resort in a great area; and it's across the street from one of Maui's best beaches. If you are looking for a beach resort to create Maui memories, this is the place.

Yes, the picture of the courtyard and ocean was taken from the 4th floor lanai of our building one Hawaiian retreat. The view of the fountains, gardens and ocean is spectacular from our relaxing vacation home.

Once you visit this beautiful complex you will see why we emphasize the building one location. Close to everything in the complex, but far enough away to not hear the beach traffic.

Little extras make for better memories. Our assigned parking is in front of our building, many are not. Building one is conveniently located near the administration building, tennis courts and barbecue area. Oh yes, we are just seconds away from the pool area but not so close that you'll hear the noise.

Our Hawaiian home comes furnished.* We have a full size washer and dryer, a queen bed and bathroom on the main floor, a king bed and bathroom in the loft area and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room along with TV's in the loft, main floor bedroom and a new (Dec. 2023) TV in the living room.

Beautiful View

We had a fantastic stay here in April, 2025 for 11nights. My favourite part of the unit was the view from the lana'i. You're not right on the water, but you can see the ocean in the distance, and the wonderful gardens of Kamaole Sands. The lana'i is large (many units have smaller ones), and has great seating for a family.We found the unit well suited for our family of 5 with one child using the pull-out bed (our children are ages 10-12yrs old). Many places only have seating for 4 at their dining tables, but this place has seating for 6. Some aspects of the unit are dated (like the kitchen sink), but it has many other features (like air conditioning!), and everything was clean. There was a good selection of kitchen dishes, pots, etc. and some spices for us to use. There are also lots of fans if you don't want to use the air conditioning.The unit is in building one, which is close to the front desk building and tennis courts. The pool is a short walk away, but not visible from the unit. We also couldn't hear much noise from the pool either. Fountains run in the day and evening, which also provides some white noise. There is an elevator to get to the 4th floor.We had an issue with the front door lock, but the host was very prompt at responding, & has since had it replaced. Our kids loved the pool, & we loved that it had some shade for the deck chairs. Overall, a great stay!

Great stay!

Our family with two little kids stayed had a great time. We really loved the close access to the beach (quick walk down path and across street), walkability to coffee shops and restaurants/shops, beautiful views of ocean and sunset from the lanai, pool and grill amenities, and beautiful grounds. We also really appreciated the beach chairs, umbrella, and toys! It made for a very nice stay. Minor critique is that the upstairs mattress could use upgrading. Overall, we would like to return!

Amazing location

Kihei is a great spot in Maui and this is the perfect spot in Kihei. You can see the beach and walk to the beach with the wagon, chairs, umbrella, cooler and towels provided. The building you stay in is by the pickle and tennis courts and also where you sign up for them making it perfect for the activity. I am so looking forward to coming back.

Perfect Location

Our stay started off on a rough note. To the surprise of the owner, manager and us the unit was getting a new roof installed the day we checked in. Manager was great and offered to help us any way possible including moving to a different building. We may it work with the noise and just stayed away from the unit most of the days. We came back in the late afternoon and construction crews were gone. As far as the actual unit itself, it was perfect for us. Updated bathrooms, huge patio, air conditioning, and plenty of room for the family. We will definitely reach out again when we return to Maui.

Fantastic maui location

We had some difficulty with the room code but it was resolved. Only suggestion would be to make it clear who else has the code on late arrival. We are new to vrbo so partly our fault. Overall this is an amazing place with all things needed. Beautiful view. Great place. Comfy beds. Lots to do.

Perfect family spot

The place was perfect for our 1-kid family with the grandparents along. Super location - kid-friendly beach right across the road with good snorkeling as well. Easy walking distance to many shops/eats. The condo complex had a nice pool with 2 hot tubs (one for adults only which was relaxing). A little thing, but a great bonus, was the folding wagon for taking the supplied beach toys across the street :)

Fabulous view of ocean and grounds

We enjoyed our stay at the Kamaole Sands, this is our 3rd time to Maui, we’ve only stayed at the Kamaole Sands. We’re happy staying here, the Kamaole 3 beach across the street is great. This is the first time seeing insects, not a serious problem but our first time ever. Our host Larry, awesome to deal with and always quick to answer questions and concerns! Thank you Larry! The grounds here are just beautiful and never disappoint!

Excellent location and beautiful property

We spent 8 days at Kamaole Sands in July 2023 and everything about our stay in the unit was great. Check in was seamless and the unit was exactly as described. The trade winds really do pick up in the afternoon so we only used the AC for right before bed to cool down the condo. Larry was easy to communicate with, and was always prompt with answering questions. The location is so central to everything, and having Kam 2 and 3 just across the road was so nice for peaceful morning walks, and sunset swims. Will definitely rebook if we come to Maui again.

Great Location and Property

This place is great. Would definitely stay again. Beach within walking distance. Lots of beaches a short drive away. Lots of shops and dining nearby. Some walkable. One great part was all the beach equipment. Several beach chairs. Couple sets of snorkel gear. Some beach umbrellas. And a rolling cooler. Easy to throw those in the car and leave for the week.

Perfect condo in perfect location

Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Maui. The condo had access to pool, hot tubs, tennis courts, and beautiful landscaping. It’s just a few minutes walk to the beach with great snorkeling and sunsets. Condo was clean and had a great patio for morning coffee.

Perfect Location in South Maui

The view from this spacious unit is perhaps the best in the complex. Beautifully landscaped. Only about a four minute walk to the beach where many people gather for the sunset. Spacious pool with shaded areas. Fast elevator. Very convenient assigned parking. Lots of beach toys in good shape including snorkeling gear. The bedrooms and two baths are great for two couples. The kitchen was nicely equipped for meal prep. Whenever we return to Maui this will be tops on our search list.

Aloha from the SF bay area! We enjoy traveling and spending time with our two grown children. We recently purchased our condo, plan on visiting several times a year and investing in an already wonderful vacation home. We wish we could be in Maui year round. Until then, we hope you enjoy our home as much as we do and make many wonderful memories here.

Why they chose this property

We were immediately attracted to Kamaole Sands with it's beautiful courtyard, the casual, beach town feel of Kihei, fabulous beach just steps from our front door with frequent sea turtle sightings. Our condo in building 1 offers the best ocean view with an extra large lanai. Just a few minutes away in Wailea, we also enjoy walking on a beautiful path along the beach in the mornings and restaurants with spectacular views in the evenings.

What makes this property unique

1. New air conditioning throughout the unit August 2019.
2. Reserved parking just steps from the elevator. Nice when unloading.
3. Building well situated between ocean, pool, tennis courts and administration bldg.
4. Barbecue area right next to our building.
