About the host

Host profile image
Carlo and I are retired educators, he as a high school teacher, I as an administrator most often in nonprofit organizations. Travel is a passion - we spend time each fall in France in a small village where we lived for 10 months in 2010. This photo was taken in Dublin. We were traveling with Norm the Moose from Jim's Rotary club. We have been together since 2006 and were married in 2009.

Why they chose this property

Ours is an easy-living home - cozy, comfortable, offering exceptional access to this dynamic region. Jim is a former state representative in the NH legislature and a huge Dover booster. Carlo moved here from his home state of New Jersey "for one year" in 1973 and never left. The proximity to cultural activities, the ocean, the mountains made it a permanent stay. People who don't know New Hampshire are always surprised by all we have to offer, especially here in the Seacoast. Our home offers the dual benefits of in-town, congestion-free living with stores close by as well as a country feel along the river just out the back door.

What makes this property unique

Those who come in the summer and fall have the special treat of enjoying meals on our large screened in porch at the back of the house. A country feel in the heart of the city. The grill is on the adjacent side deck. Though we are very much in urban Dover, out the back door is a two minute walk to little league baseball fields and the Dover Community Trail along the Cochecho River. Two miles in one direction is all rural. 15 minutes in the other direction leads you to the downtown portion of the trail, an easy stroll to downtown. Summers feature outdoor Friday evening concerts at the Rotary Pavilion downtown. For theater lovers, the summer family-oriented plays in Portsmouth's Prescott Park are a special treat. We take our grandchildren every year. Beer lovers will appreciate several micro-brew pubs in downtown Dover.
