Classic Aussie Beach House - Apollo Bay

Welcome to Classic Aussie Beach House!

This classic Australian beach shack has no frills, but a lot of charm and everything you actually need.
Enjoy the cosy wood fire in the lounge room which opens onto the deck with filtered views to the ocean. You will find polished floorboards, separate kitchen area and 3 bedrooms accommodating a total of 7 guests. Sit amongst the gum trees in the native garden and paved outdoor setting. Just a few minutes’ walk to Skenes Creek Beach and if you’re lucky you may even see a resident Koala!

retro getaway

Great little retro shack on the beach - nothing pretentious here just a warm fire, hot shower, everything you need to cook plus the added bonus of a great video/dvd/book collection. Nestled in the trees a short walk to the beach, perfect for families wanting an affordable break. We will be back.

Cute retro old beach house

Cute little retro place. Basic, old-school amenities. Nothing flash, but sweet & convenient. Could probably do with a bit of a deep clean, but was ok. We loved waking up to the sound of the kookaburras. Thanks!

Electrics are illegal and had to reset power after tripping twice in 3 days. Gas explosion in very old stove which caused personal bodily burns

Skenes Creek experience

Mostly, it was a pleasant experience: Being able to have our small dog with us and plenty of room to spread out in a peaceful location was exactly what we wanted. We didn't care that it wasn't modern or exceptionally clean. However, we did feel deceived: in the promotional material there are pictures of the stove/oven - and yet there was no gas supplied for this appliance. We were hoping to save money by doing our own cooking and not have to go out for every meal: Yes, there was a number to phone in the event that both gas cylinders were empty. But clearly, from the evidence, there was no intention of supplying this to us: because no plates or bowls are located within their accommodation - This assumes they don't believe we will have use for these items because they think we won't be cooking! The empty gas cylinders were enormous and heavy: We weren't about to somehow lug these into the back of our car and get them filled in Apollo Bay and then simply hope our host will reimburse us for the cost. Likewise, there is an assumption that, should you contract Covid, you will do a deep-clean before you leave: This does not consider the fact that you could be gravely ill or dying with this illness and therefore not in a position to do any kind of cleaning. The only way of ensuring guests are happy is by directly talking with them, instead of relying solely on automated messages. We won't be staying there again unless they rectify these issues.

Great place for classic beach holiday

We have stayed here twice now - the family enjoyed a classic beach holiday in a simple beach house in a nice “treed” environment close to Skenes Creek beach. Reminded me of my childhood summer beach holidays ..
