This was our second time here and enjoyed it just as much as last time. Everything was clean and kitchen was well stocked with dishes and gadgets. We were missing dishwasher detergent but the rental company dropped some off for us in a reasonable amount of time.
We really enjoyed the cabin and appreciated that the owners had clearly made an effort to make the place comfortable
* Would suggest a much needed flyswatter and a new fry pan. Little details that would add alot
The property was situated on a quiet road and surrounded by BEAUTIFUL pines and maples and poplars.
We thoroughly enjoyed the view with all of the windows.
The reason I gave the property 4 stars is that there was not 1 seasoning in the kitchen, no pepper, no salt. We are cooks and ended up having to buy these.
Also, if visiting during cooler months, pack your throws for the couches.
Otherwise a lovely spot.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house and on the island, to the point that we are hoping to make it an annual trip. The property is beautiful. We hardly left the property and took full advantage of the nature surrounding the house between the patio, fire pit, and screened in porch.
A couple minor issues…listing stated satellite TV but it appeared you needed to bring your own device (Apple TV, Roku, etc). Not a big deal but we wanted to catch a couple games at night.
Also, the listing mentioned in-floor heating but there didn’t appear to be any controls to use it nor did they seem to work automatically.
Outside of these minor issues, this place was a perfect sanctuary!
Eagle Moon was perfect for our long weekend. It exceeded our expectations! Book and movie selection was big hit. Kitchen had everything even amazing skillets which might be new based on previous reviews we read. Beautiful views of the woods. Would definitely come back!
Beautiful house and property, wish we had known the grill wasn't working
The house is quite nice and comfortable. We really enjoyed the sunroom, fireplace, and fire pit in particular, and it was great to be able to bring my dog. Overall our stay was very relaxing and quiet, and we slept better than we have in years!
Our problems were very minor but I'm putting them in the review because they are useful for future guests to know before they arrive.
The owners left a note on the fridge saying that the grill needed to be lit manually, but we couldn't get it to work at all. It had basically disintegrated inside. This was a significant inconvenience for us because all the food we brought with us was intended to be grilled. We made do, but it would have been nice to know in advance. Which led to another small observation: although the kitchen is amply stocked with utensils and cookware, there isn't a regular skillet. Just something to know if you're used to having one.
This is about the island rather than the house, but is also helpful to know: bring EVERYTHING you need. The grocery store is really more of a small convenience store, and they're open very limited hours. Presumably because of COVID but possibly just because it's island life, restaurants aren't reliably open. If we hadn't brought food, we would have been going hungry the first night. And fill your gas tank before you get here. We had to drive more than I anticipated and there's no gas station on the island.
This lovely house appeared small from the pictures but was very spacious inside. The master bedroom is a nice size and has its own bathroom. The other two bedrooms were smaller, but still could fit four people. Though the bed was a bit lumpy, the outside shower was AWESOME (how fun to look up to the sky while you are showering!), the kitchen was so well stocked, I couldn't believe it had everything you ever imagined you needed (even an espresso machine). Bring your own food, the island doesn't have a very big grocery store, and given we were visiting during COVID there weren't a lot of restaurants opened. The house was perfectly situated to enjoy all the island has to offer, and then enjoy complete peace and quiet. Thank you!
This place is tucked nicely into madeline island, we were less than 2 miles away from the ferry. Place was well kept and really clean, had everything we needed.
What a fine retreat! Clean, comfortable, restorative and beautiful. A private reserve just perfect for dog lovers. Close to Grants Point and town and yet a world away.
