Welcome to our private villa on Playa Zancudo

This special property and area has something for everyone.

While listening to the howler monkeys or parrots in the morning or being lulled to sleep by the sound of the crashing waves, you’ll truly appreciate everything this property has to offer.

Endless walks await you on the six mile long black sand beach just steps away, or if your preference is fishing we have access to boats or a world class fishing lodge just down the beach.

If it is surfing, you can surf right in front of the villa or the world famous breaks at Pavones and Pilon are a short drive. If surfing is not for you, just relax in the pool or go Boogie boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, Zip lining, snorkeling, kayaking, Bird watching or horseback riding , it’s all available here or nearby!

Picture yourself sitting on one of the the spacious patio’s, in the pool or under the palapa as you gaze over the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Tropical birds, monkeys, butterflies and flocks of pelicans gliding over the waves and the occasional pairs of Scarlet Macaws will entertain you as you enjoy your morning coffee or sunset cocktail.

Great local restaurants are close by or cook your own gourmet meal in the full kitchen.
Make a fire at the beach and watch the stars after dinner.

You can do everything or nothing at all.
This will be a vacation you will never want to end.

Please be aware, Playa Zancudo is located in a remote area of South West Costa Rica, it is roughly a seven hour drive from San Jose or a 45 minute flight on Sansa Airlines or another domestic airline to the town of Golfito.

Rental cars are available in Golfito and the drive to Zancudo from there is @ 45 minutes.

Love the pool and access to the ocean. The view from the upper balcony is amazing! Beds are comfortable. There is a nice array of kitchen utensils and cookware. Karen and Stephen are easy to communicate with. Checking in and out is a breeze and the house is lovely.

Nice large property on a beautiful piece of land. Very easy check in and the easiest check out process out there. The house was clean and aired out, no musty smells! Kitchen very well equipped, beds were comfortable and spaces were large and airy. We loved the pool. It was the BEST part of the stay! I'd stay here again hands down.

Zancudo excellent place to visit for real experience

Property was great right on beach w fresh pool. Would highly recommend. Zancudo was perfect for us remote but w plenty of hidden bars and restaurants but the combination of few people, many monkeys, sloth and fish maybe cannot be beat

Great family getaway

We (family w ages from 70 to 4) spent a week in Casa Mango. Far away from crowded beaches, Casa Mango is only a few steps from the beach (a completely empty beach just for you); or even less steps if you want to jump in the pool. If you want to relax, rest, unplug… this is the place. Stephen and Alex were very friendly and answered all questions before and during our trip.

Exactly what we were looking for

Our family really enjoyed our time in PZ. This property was well apportioned and in the ideal location for our needs. There's a little market down the road and a few restaurants if you get tired of cooking. The pool was private and a great alternative to the completely deserted beach. We all will fondly remember our time there and hope to be back next year!

Casa Mango is both a lovely property and a beautiful house. The house is extremely well equipped and has a very nicely appointed kitchen w 6 burner gas range, quality pots and pans and service for 8 with a gorgeous dining room table. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the mattresses were comfortable. The pool is spotless but could use a few more chairs and maybe a shade umbrella. The outdoor seating areas are first class.All in all a great place to stay.

Nice property, great location.

Our first time to Zancudo, we enjoyed our stay. Kevin next door was amazing - nice guy and quite helpful. Not many house rental options in this area, quite certain this is the best one. House is well appointed, a good size - really close to the beach. The new pool was great - huge bonus as when we booked a few months ago there wasn’t one. Beach is really nice, quiet - we rarely saw anyone within close proximity the four days we were there.

Great place in Zancudo.

Nice place with a great pool and excellent beach access. Alex the caretaker is great and speaks pretty good English. I’m working on my Spanish so it was good practice for me. It was very hot when we were there, even the locals said it was extra hot. A/C would have been nice but we learned to live without it. All in all a great place and would recommend it.

Casa Mango

This is a beautiful property right on the bay with an excellent pool. You can walk the beach for miles in both directions and hardly see a soul. The kitchen is well supplied which helps when staying long term (we stayed a month). Alex, the property manager, is always available and obviously takes pride in his work. I would give the place a full 5 stars if it had AC- at least in the bedrooms.

Our 7th visit to Zancudo, 1st time staying at Casa Mango. Though just the 2 of us, it's 3 bedrooms could comfortably accommodate many more. We especially appreciated the in ground pool & the beach front palapa. Kevin, the property manager, lives 2 lots over & was helpful and very friendly (ask him about horse back riding on the beach). Location was beautiful

Steps to a secluded beach. Please note there is no a/c. It is not needed as long as you have a fan to move the air. The one and only thing for me was the mattresses. Hard Hard Hard If this is what you are used to, perfect. I had to steal the cushions from the couch to be able to sleep comfortably. Communication was fast and easy and we so enjoyed our stay. Please note this is a remote location.

Casa Mango a sweet slice of paradise

Everything was great—plenty of room for the three of us, close to good surf, perfect for viewing as well as hearing the ocean, and communication with pool guy—very respectful—and Cuidadores was good. The only downside were the stinging ants that flooded the kitchen. We were all stung and it was unpleasant. We alerted one of the cuidadors the day we checked out and he was going to take care of it.

Beach paradise

Cool casa, perfect pool and beautiful beach only saw 5 other people for the 5 days. Alex the care taker was fantastic! The beds were pretty dated and bathroom faucets need some help and no AC. Those are the only cons. Only four floor fans are provided, should be two more for kitchen and top floor office, we just moved them around. Plenty of towels and extra Lenin's great little washing machine. Perfectly stocked kitchen, even has a wireless speaker! Make sure you stock up on groceries in Rio Claro, the only super market after that is in Pavones and it's not as stocked and a good 40min drive. The refrigerator is good size. I hope I can stay there again it was pure vida. Thanks Steven and Alex, God Bless Beware of the potholes on the road after the first big bridge crossing and don't let Google maps make you turn at the rodeo arena just stay on the main road.

Amazing house, property, and beach town.

We booked a 10 day stay with Stephen that couldn’t of been any better. Noah, the property manager, took us on a rain forest hike, and give us a private tour on his boat through the river. We saw alligators, a bunch of different types of monkeys, and my wife’s most favorite, sloths! Alex, the resident Handyman and Pool technician, make sure that we were equipped with boogie boards, and anything else that we needed during our stat. When we first arrived we had some Wi-Fi issues, and Alex came over and immediately solved the problem. Because rental cars were so hard to find, alex also helped give us rides to wherever we need to go, including Golfito and San Jose. He is super friendly and is beginning to speak pretty good English. * we speak no Spanish Stephen, the property owner, couldn’t of been more accommodating and responsive. Any issues he had or we had, he was able to quickly solve for and ensured that we were happy and everything was working right. The grocery store in the area worked out great and everyone was really friendly. The local restaurants, again, everyone was very friendly and had great food. I highly recommend staying at this property if you have a chance. When we booked it, we got the entire house a beautiful pool, a huge yard, and the beach all to ourselves. We couldn’t asked for more!

The Perfect Place

I’m not sure where to start, Casa Mango is perfect. The check in was easy, the beds comfy, and the pool a great oasis. The short walk to the beach out the back door made boogie boarding and sunset watching a dream come true. The house is rocked with a full kitchen and towels and bedding to spare. The house had things you don’t think of till you realize how great they are, it has a Bluetooth sandbar for mellow tunes at the pool, or cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The kitchen has a garbage with a tight lid to minimize fruit flies and garbage bugs. The rooms all have numerous plug ins. The balcony is amazing for relaxing on and drinking a coffee to get your day going. Before you go, stop in a big town and stock up, the supermarkets in town, although they have everything you need are on the pricey side, and getting there is a long (1.5-2hr) bumpy road, not just a quick trip to a city to grab more stuff. We visited a few restaurants, Pana at the very end of the spit does a great whole fried fish dinner. A few doors down from the first supermarket in town on the right is a small sign for Lali, stop in in the morning and tell her you want to come back for dinner, she has a good menu and will make you a great meal. Sol y Mar, made a good lunch and reasonable prices. I’d say avoid El Coquito restaurant, this was probably the worst meal I’ve had in a long time, they made hard tacos, with squeezy cheese on them, and the smoothies were tasteless and everything was way overpriced. All in all playa Zancudo was an amazing place and Casa Mango was well worth the visit. Find out when Emilo comes and put out the sign to get fruit deliveries on Monday and Friday mornings.
