Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the home and its location. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we’d love to welcome you back anytime!
This is our second time staying at this property and we loved it. This trip was Myself, my husband, our two kids and fur baby. The accommodation's were perfect for us. The bay and beach access were great.
This place has a great porch and great windows to watch the gulf and the bay. If you would like to have a comfortable home base for viewing and exploring the coast, this is your spot! The kitchen is well equipped for someone who loves to cook. We had a wonderful week’s stay here.
Well situated on the Cape, this home was perfect for the two of us. The kitchen had everything we needed and the entire vacation was better than expected. We’ll be back at Take a Chance asap.
This house was the perfect location for our little getaway. Close to restaurants and stores. The house set up was perfect and provided easy access to a private dock Bayside, and a private pathway to the beach. Check in/out was super easy. The property was very clean and large enough to accommodate us comfortably. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back!
We had a short but sweet visit with Take a Chance. Hurricane Helene kicked us out 3 days early. We did enjoy the beach, pool, and the bay while there. The best part of this place is you get the beautiful beach and bay included. My kids had so much fun fishing on the dock at sunset. We met some very nice people too :)
This was our second summer spent at Take a Chance and it just doesn’t get any better than this house. If big views, natural beauty, and solitude are what you are after look no further! This is our favorite house on the Cape by far.
Had a great time . Loved the area . Nothing going on ! Thats just the way we like it .
Loved it . Nothing going on around you . Great relaxing time with family . No drama no traffic no teenage kids driving up and down the roadways . Just the ocean and views . We will be staying here again .
We loved it, the weather was a little bit unfriendly for fishing that we intended on doing but we managed. The house is very cozy, situated just were we liked close to the State Park and as well nearby stores and restaurants. Very nice home, will definitely stay again. Loved the sights, wildlife is amazing. Like I said it was a Blast! Thanks Vince.
Great rental. Perfect to access the bay and beach. Had to evacuate due to mandatory evacuation and Vince communicated with us throughout. Kitchen could be stocked better but otherwise it was a great place.
We enjoyed our stay at Take a Chance. It was pet friendly so we were able to take our dog with us and the deck had a gate so she could be outside with us without being on a leash. The property was clean and well maintained. There was easy access to the gorgeous beach, which we were able to walk along every day.
We had a wonderful and relaxing vacation at Take a Chance! The house was exactly as described—very clean and comfortable. Access to the bay was a major highlight. We rented kayaks and spent time fishing every day, enjoying sightings of sea turtles, crabs, and even dolphins! The walk to the beach was a bit farther than expected, but it was a beautiful, peaceful stroll. The master bedroom mattress could use an upgrade or at least a topper for added comfort. There are a few areas that could use some attention. The deck railings felt a bit wobbly when leaned on, and a few of the patio chairs were rusted and should be replaced. The laundry/storage room downstairs was incredibly spacious and great for keeping all of our beach gear organized, but it could benefit from a thorough cleaning.Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to return in the future!
Nice little family getaway during COVID 19 times. Mostly private beach area access. Definitely need to be aware of mosquitoes due to man made lagoon area behind the house... they are INTENSE so bring ample spray (DEET recommended). Also, it's nice to see the water from both sides of the house, however unable to hear any of it contrary to what was expected. All together the property fit our needs and it felt like a safe area for our family vacation.

We are glad you enjoyed it. Over 90% of the time you can hear the waves. It just so happened there were no waves all week. I could not even hear the waves from my beachfront home all week. However, the green flag conditions all week made for some very beautiful, clear water on the Gulf side.
We were a bit alarmed when we pulled into the driveway, kind of took my heart away having driven from ga! We have never been to Cape San Blas and most likely one time was enough! Huge roaches and big rats as we walked along the path on Hibiscus Drive! Woke up this morning with a huge roach in the kitchen and little ones in the laundry room. Seriously this place could be gorgeous but it is in of some TLC!

So this property gets a bad review because there are rats and roaches outside. Note to people who have never been here: This is Old Florida, very undeveloped. We actually have ordinances that require us to have undeveloped areas to protect endangered species. We also have snakes, bobcats, eagles, ospreys and alligators. Please do not visit if these bother you. Also, we regularly spray for pests inside, the last time being 2 days before this guest arrived. Any roaches inside were either brought in or came in through opened doors.
Take a Chance was a very peaceful and beautiful place to stay. The home is very close to the beach.
The community pool is only a few blocks away and the private walkway to the beach. The house was well stocked with towels we needed and cooking utensils needed. We made a fresh shrimp stir fry one night from the shrimp we got in Port St Joe . The home is very close to Port St Joe where there are lots of nice restaurants I recommend the Quatro Locos the White Marlin and the Smokehouse all great food. We saw a lot of Stingrays swimming when we were at the beach. I had one recommendation to cover the front door with a blind or curtain for extra privacy. Thank you Vince for a beautiful place to stay we look forward to returning to the area again. God bless you and your family and team helping you.

Our stay at this camp was disappointing on multiple fronts. The most immediate issue was a roach infestation that made the living spaces uncomfortable and raised concerns about hygiene. This is not what you expect when you’re trying to relax or focus on outdoor activities.Maintenance and plumbing problems were a constant source of frustration. The toilets leaked and ran through the floor into the downstairs laundry room, creating a messy and potentially unsafe situation. The tub backed up with toilet water, which was both unpleasant and unsanitary. These plumbing issues point to serious maintenance shortcomings that need urgent attention.Pros were scarce during this visit, but the location has potential if these problems are addressed. If you’re considering staying here, I’d suggest:- Confirming that a thorough pest control treatment has been scheduled and completed.- Requesting a detailed maintenance update and a clear plan for plumbing repairs before check-in.- Inspecting the unit for any signs of moisture, mold, or leaks upon arrival.- Asking for a discount or alternative accommodation if issues persist after check-in.Bottom line: if you can’t tolerate persistent pests and ongoing plumbing failures, this camp is not a suitable choice at the moment. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements for future guests.

We’re truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations. We take all feedback seriously and always aim to provide a comfortable experience for our guests.
To clarify, this home is professionally treated for pests on a monthly basis, as outlined in the rental agreement, and no pest concerns were reported to us during your stay. When you notified us of a plumbing issue, our team responded promptly: we dispatched staff the same day to assess the situation, provided interim instructions, and scheduled the earliest available plumber. The repair was completed while you were out, and no further issues were reported after service.
Leading up to your arrival, our team coordinated and delivered 16 packages on your behalf and maintained open, consistent communication throughout the entire booking process and your stay. We pride ourselves on this level of customer service, as guest experience is always our top priority.
We understand how important comfort is when traveling, and while we regret your stay fell short of your expectations, we’re confident future guests will continue to enjoy this property as we remain committed to proactive maintenance, responsive service, and genuine guest care.
Pretty much everything was great but, there were a handful of things that may have swayed my decision to book this property if I had known beforehand.
1. The refrigerator doesn’t cool very well so you have to intermittently add items that aren’t cold yet.
2. The distance to either the beach or the bay is just enough to be cumbersome but, it is situated at about the halfway point so, if you intend to go to both, it’s pretty convenient in the sense that you don’t need to drive.
3. There was a leak from the inside AC unit that we were notified of, the day before arrival. The leak had likely been active for a week or two because there was a large section of ceiling sheetrock in the living room that had recently been replaced. That didn’t bother us a bit but, there was an incredibly strong mold smell on the day we arrived. We had to open all windows and doors to let the place air out for several hours and pick up a couple of air fresheners to tame the smell. Afterwards, it wasn’t as noticeable and our stay was fine, minus some mild allergies.
All in all, we are happy with our stay but, there were a few things that could have been better.
We love coming back to this rental. Having access to the gulf and bay, plus the pool, is awesome! Sunsets are stunning from the house! You can even catch a glimpse of an alligator in the pond behind the house! We went scalloping right off the dock. And if you like to walk, run or bike, Loggerhead Run (8mile paved bike trail) is at the end of your driveway. We had so much fun! Can’t wait to go back!
