About this property
Smoky Mountain Retreat
2.8 m to Main St , 3800' Elevation, Game room, Fire Pit
Come and relax in the Great Smoky Mountains. Enjoy the fresh air from your vacation rental home that sits at a 3800 foot elevation! Private 3 acres, 10 minutes to Blue Ridge Parkway.
Sleeping arrangements include a large master suite with a king bed and private master bath. There are two additional bedrooms one furnished with a queen bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds.
You will find skiing, hiking (our favorite hike is to Skinny Dip Falls, mile marker 417 off of the Blue Ridge Parkway), tubing, white water rafting, shopping, fishing, golfing, the Biltmore in Asheville and much more in the surrounding area. Historic downtown Waynesville has excellent restaurants and shops you won't want to miss. All of this only 5 minutes or less from your front door! A ten mile drive takes you to Cataloochee Valley to see the protected elk (you may see an elk wandering on the road going up the mountain to your home!), an easy 30 minutes to Asheville and all of its amenities, and only 45 minutes to historic Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge!

This is our third (3rd) time staying at this VRBO! We love it for it's location (close to town), seclusion/privacy (up the mountain from town and on 3 acres) and comfort (the basics are provided and the home is clean). We will DEFINITELY be back !
The location of this property was excellent - we have been to NC many times, but with this spot and our extended stay, we got to see all of beautiful western NC.
This was my first experience renting a vacation home. It was great, nice house, clean, and everything you need. The area is absolutely beautiful. Went to see fall colors was not disappointed.
The whole experience was great! The communication with the host was great from the moment confirmed. The cabin was as listed, clean with great views, amenities and hospitality. We highly recommend.
Convenient location, loved the porch and view. Kitchen was well stocked, Master was very comfortable. Was happy to have a fire pit to enjoy a nice fire and nature.
This is our second time renting this location. It is a beautiful location (private, quiet and close enough to town). It is always clean and has plenty of space. We love that at night, you can see so many stars in the night sky and the lights of downtown and other homes on the mountains, off in the distance.
Great location, peaceful and quiet yet close to town. Property owner, Mike, very accessible. Plenty of towels, well-stocked kitchen. Thanks, Mike, for using free and clear detergent for those of us who are allergic to laundry fragrances and additives.
We were celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We love the mountains, and the Waynesville area. The house was very comfortable, and the view can not be overstated. We had evening storms every night, and watching them come up the mountain was spectacular. A wonderful time.
This was our first experience using VRBO and staying at Hi Holme! We were not disappointed! The home was pleasant with all of the amenities we could ask for. Two miles outside of Waynesville in a quaint area where you could hear the sounds of a creek nearby. Perfect central location for visiting Asheville, Cherokee, Gatlinburg, Maggie Valley and Cataloochee Valley for beautiful mountains and elk watching. Will definitely stay here again when we next visit this area.
This property is amazing. From the moment we arrived and saw the views, we were so thrilled that we chose this rental. Everything about this location was on point. We loved that there were three rooms with the most comfortable beds and of course the three bathrooms. We also loved that there was a very cool game room. The views from the master bedroom were amazing!! The fact that they allowed our precious fur baby was icing on the cake. Thank you for an amazing vacation rental…we couldn’t be happier!!
The house was just as pictured with an amazing view. The beds were so comfy that you melt into them. Mike contacted me to make sure that we arrived safe and with no issues, as well as contacted me multiple times before to ensure me that he was available via phone for any issues. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone. Already trying to plan a trip to come back.
We arrived and were so happy with the location matching the description in the listing. The house setting and set up was just as described and did not disappoint. The home was warm and inviting and had pretty much everything we needed. There were only two of us so we didn’t need the 2 extra rooms or 2 extra baths but it would be great to rent with friends or family in the future! The master bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked.
The property was just beautiful… nice views (even the lights of downtown at night were cool), the frog pond with the bull frogs serenading us after dark was so cool and the peaceful/quiet neighborhood was perfect. We can’t say enough! We would definitely rent here again and recommend it to friends and family.
We had an amazing stay. The home is clean, and extremely comfortable. And the location is perfect…very close to town, but tucked away and surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. Mike was extremely helpful and checked in to make sure we didn’t need anything. Can’t say enough about this stay….definitely 5 stars!
Our family (plus dog) had an amazing time! We loved exploring new things around Waynesville this year: playing pickleball at Lake Junaluska, walking the Balsam Trail off the Blue Ridge Parkway and eating lunch at one of the overlooks, and going to the dog park at Canton and walking the trail to see goats and chickens. The house was a haven as it allowed us to work on jigsaw puzzles while enjoying an amazing view. We sat outside one afternoon and ate lunch at the picnic table again enjoying the beautiful view. We especially loved the ping pong table where over 45 games were played. And the beds were oh so comfy!!!!
We had an awesome time in this beautiful home. The location is great, the views are spectacular, the beds are so comfortable! We’re looking forward to coming back next year.
Super House with all the comforts of your own home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was very easy to find in a very quiet and secure mountain neighborhood. The house was extremely comfortable with great views of the mountains. Very close drive into Hazelwood and Waynesville. Don't miss shopping at the Barber Orchard Shop for apple fritters, muffins, pies and cookies and varietals of apples. The home owners are very accommodating, take good care of the property and are truly concerned with your opinions. A great find for a super place to stay while enjoying the Waynesville community for shopping, dining; riding the Blue Ridge Parkway; and plain old relaxation. So thankful to have the opportunity to stay in this home!
This was the perfect property for our stay!
Its located on a quiet street with lovely homes, just 8 minutes from town. The home was very well appointed and clean, with thoughtful touches throughout.
We were hiking in the area, so the tiled bonus room was a great space for staging gear and the house was perfectly suited for two couples (and our pup).
We loved watching the trees around the pond change to Fall colors and the wildlife that passed through every day during our stay!
Definitely make time to walk the downtown area and enjoy the many restaurants and shops of Waynesville as there is always something going on.
We highly recommend this property…it has a lot to offer in a beautiful location!
Beautiful home, fantastic view and excellent host. It was exactly as described. 5 stars all the way. Very comfortable place to relax. Indoor and outdoor. You won’t be sorry if you stay here. Just what the Dr ordered. 👍
This is a great place for a family. We enjoyed the house and its amenities. The price is perfect for this house due to its location. It is well stocked and furnished. Our 2 dogs loved exploring the yard and surrounding woods.
The only negative for me was that it had a slight musty smell. But being in the mountains in an older home that is expected.
We would definitely rent again.
Michael was excellent in his communications. Thank you for allowing us to rent your home
Easy access. Great neighborhood. Everything we needed was there. View from living room windows was fantastic. We had great weather and saw geese and deer around the pond. Fed the minnows in the pond some corn tortillas and it was great fun watching them push the chips around. We had some of our meals on the picnic table on the porch to enjoy the view and sit with the dog. Private and very comfortable. The game room was a great asset for a larger group than us. Great for larger group. We only used the large bedroom since there were only two of us. We talked and watched Too Cute on TV at night. It was a wonderful stay. We will come again.
