We brought our son and dil and 2 grands ages 20 and 11. The house and property were perfect. Aiden was a terrific help in guiding us to local attractions we otherwise would have never experienced. He was just a phone call away when we had a question. We would recommend this rental 100%.

Thank you Robert, we’re delighted you enjoyed your time in the West ☘️
Breathtaking gorgeous views! The home and property were exactly as described and exceed our expectations. So grateful for the stay and hospitality. We hope to be back someday.
This property was absolutely gorgeous with breathtaking views. The pictures don’t do it justice! Aidan was on hand for anything we needed and we couldn’t have been made feel more at home. Couldn’t rate this highly enough.
This is the place to stay! Breathtaking views from almost every room in the house. If we weren't pressed for time we all would have been just fine enjoying the views and serenity of the house. It's perfectly located to 2 towns only minutes away with a lot to offer. Aiden was very friendly and offered fantastic suggestions for live music and exploring. Hope to make it back on our next trip whenever that may be.
We stayed in 7 locations in Ireland and without question, Aidan’s Island WAS THE BEST!
Aidan and Maura are outstanding hosts who have the gift of hospitality. Sitting in the Vaulted Family Room looking at the lake from Aidan’s Island and the views across the valley is simply unbelievable. Our only mistake was not staying longer. DON’T MAKE THAT SAME MISTAKE!
THIS BEAUTIFUL HOME IS THE PERFECT LOCATION NEAR BOTH CASTLEBAR AND WESTPORT.

Thank you very much Stephen, for your review. It was great having you and your family stay. We hope you all enjoy the rest of your Road-Trip.
We loved the hilltop location and the beauty of this place! The house is gorgeous and very spacious!! The owner, Aidan, is a delightful host!
Our one and only problem was a lack of written instructions on the washer/dryer. I’m not sure if it was our fault but the laundry took forever and came out VERY wrinkled. Still, you loved this place and would definitely stay there again. Hopefully for a longer visit!!
Beautiful home! Aidan is a friendly and responsive landlord
and ready to help with any issues. The home is clean, well layed out and well stocked with the usual courtesy supplies such as tea, coffee, milk, etc. The view is great and the home is very comfortable overall. The only issues were location; it you use GPS or Eircode you can find it. If you do not, it is fairly difficult to find. Additionally, it was not exactly clear from the online description that there is a dog kennel with multiple dogs just 30 feet or so from the home. If dogs are not an issue for you - you will be fine. However, I would stronly reccomend that the write up on the property be expanded to clearly indicate this situation. The brief passing reference to the dogs does not make it at all clear how very close they are to the house. Overall, the stay was enjoyable and Aidan is an excellent host.

Thank you Liam for your kind review, and also the mention that we have our two Irish Wolfhounds, Spéir & Máirtín (and a little abandoned dog, Pippin) in a pen on the property close to both Aidan's Island accommodation and where we also live. I will update our site to make this abundantly clear, as you have suggested.
We both thank you for your positive input, and wish you all the best,
Very kind regards, Aidan & Maura
Aidan and Maura were by far the best hosts I have ever had with VRBO. They made our stay just as perfect as we had hoped. The house is a dream and the views are fantastic. It was hard to leave and go out “touristing”. We were in dire need of clean laundry when we arrived and Maura quickly took care of it for us! Aidan was full of information about local things to see and do. The kitchen is very well equipped. We found some staples in the fridge and even an apple tart. Aidan and Maura even went out of their way to supply us with bags of ice cubes! The house also contained lots of maps, guidebooks and brochures for our use. On top of all this, they lent us a local cell phone to use. It took us about 15 minutes to drive into Westport, so we had a city nearby but enjoyed the country quiet. Aidan and Maura’s dog Scruffy came to visit us and then it truly felt like home away from home. My niece only had one suggestion: she wished for hooks in the bathrooms. I would have loved to stay longer in this beautiful house. Maybe next time? Thank you again Aidan and Maura.

Stunning house in a great rural location. It was almost a pity that we had to go out and visit the surrounding area. Wee could have easily stayed in to relax for three days! Aidan and Maura were lovely and very helpful. We hope to go back for longer in the future.
We had a fab 3 night break with friends in this beautiful, well equipped house with super views over the lake. I would highly recommend this house for a quiet escape.

Had a fantastic weekend getaway at Aidans Island. The views from this property are spectacular and the house itself is equally as impressive. Very clean and well equipped with all you could need. Would definitely come back again
A really fantastic property in a lovely spot close to both Castlebar and Westport. Perfect for socialising and spending time with friends and family in a beautiful setting overlooking fields and the lake
Had such a wonderful weekend at Aiden’s Island. House was spotless, beautiful and very comfortable. Aiden and Maura were so welcoming and congenial! Only complaint was that we didn’t have enough time there. Hope to come back!

What a beautiful place. We had such a great time. The house is so beautiful. Moura and Aiden are very welcoming. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for having us.
This property is a beautiful spacious home with spectacular view of lake and countryside. Our favorite of our stay in Ireland. The hosts were on site and greeted us and showed us through the home. They were very welcoming and helpful. The home was well supplied included thoughtful touches throughout. Plus we enjoyed the company of the resident golden retriever Scruffy. The town of Westport is close by and had many shops and restaurants. We chose to buy groceries and cook dinner at the house so we could enjoy the wonderful view. We hope to return for a longer stay.

About the host
Hosted by Aidan O'Sullivan
Hi, We are Aidan & Maura O'Sullivan. Born & Bred in County Down, we have lived in Connemara for 20 years, before moving to Islandeady, on the outskirts of Westport, in 2018. And here we are, looking forward to welcoming guests to our home.
Why they chose this property
This is a modern, spacious and secure home, set on a hight with spectacular panoramic views over Lough Islandeady and the surrounding countryside. It is a quiet and peaceful place with a large garden and outdoor furniture, which allows for outdoor relaxing and eating/drinking. There are two living rooms, one with a working stove in the fireplace. It is a great place to use as a pivot to explore the many attractions and activities offered only a short distance away in Westport, Castlebar, Mullranny, Louisburgh and Connemara, and then return back to the peace of the home place. Both Westport and Castlebar are only a 10 minute drive away.
What makes this property unique
It must be the view, so spectacular that I often get up at all hours in the morning just to witness the sunrise! It's simply breathtaking. The Wild Atlantic Way and the Great Western Greenway are 10 minutes away. Croagh Patrick Achil Island Clew bay Westport House
