About this property

Grand Views Casita ~ 360* Views, Vineyards, Hiking, Cycling, Birding, Spelunking

Spectacular views and privacy abound in the Grand Views Casita. Our home sits on the top of a hill on 40 acres in a gated community just north of Sonoita, AZ. Our guests come back year after year to enjoy the sweeping mountain/prairie views from the wrap around porch or pull the curtains for a 180* view from the living room/dining room/kitchen.
The wood floors, slate fireplace, soaking tub in the guest bath, and the en suite bathroom shower will soothe your soul. The kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances, granite counter tops with a peninsula and a wine fridge for your culinary/entertaining needs. A propane Webber is available for grilling outdoors. The continuous sliding glass doors on two walls of the living room allow you bring the outside in. I especially love the sunrise from the living room. There are fans in every room as well as central AC/heating, should you need it. Sleep in comfort on your queen bed either in the guest room or the master bedroom. There is also a stack washer/dryer on site for your convenience.

Stellar!
We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Casita! We were looking for a special retreat in a semi-remote, high-desert area and could not have been more fortunate than to stay here. The scenery and residence far exceeded our expectations. The Casita is laid out well. The decor is very tasteful and made us feel comfortable and at home right away. Everything we needed was provided, from cooking utensils to spices, a large refrigerator, books, magazines, internet service, and a nice TV. The owners communicated with us very well but were never intrusive. Whenever we had questions, they responded very quickly and when we needed a little assistance they acted quickly and decisively to help us. We also appreciated that they had a very nice local rep to help us. Although we intended to spend most of our time birding the local avian hotspots, we were continually drawn back to the comfort of the Casita by the spectacular vistas and amazing sunsets. Gorgeous! Before our visit, we didn't truly grasp the significance of staying near the Coronado National Forest and the Las Cienegas Nature Conservancy. Being so very close to these natural resources gave us plenty of additional opportunities to observe nature just a few minutes away. Because of the Casita's central location, we did also enjoy short drives of about an hour to bird in Sierra Vista, Tucson, Madera Canyon, Patagonia (fairly close), Pena Blanca, DeAnza Trail, all the canyons in the Huachuca Mountains, Whitewater Draw, etc.. We did enjoy some local wine tasting and sampling various restaurants in Sonoita and Patagonia. We found the neighbors to be very friendly - we met several on the road in from the highway. We also found the townspeople in nearby Sonoita and Patagonia to be very friendly and welcoming of tourists such as ourselves. We can't wait to return to this gorgeous property and beautiful surroundings. Thank you Patti and David for sharing your gorgeous property with us!

Paradise Found
We were 110% thrilled with our six week 'Casita' stay.  This 'little bit of heaven' location offers spectacular mountain views and sunsets, lots of bird sightings (owl, roadrunners, hawks) and wondrous animal viewing (resident pronghorn antelope, coues deer). Located off a designated 'scenic highway', the drive to Tucson is picturesque and convenient.  The home is extremely comfortable, beautifully contemporary and outfitted with everything. The owner was delightful to deal with. Tucson being a UNESCO Gastronomy city, has so many eateries to explore. Surrounding area tours (Arizonza-Sonora Desert Museum, Pima Air and Space Museum, Davis-Monthon AFB Boneyard, Biosphere 2, Titan Missile Museum, University of Arizona Mirror Laboratory) are professional and informative. Local towns near the 'Casita', Sonoita (with good restaurants and two convenience stores) and Patagonia (with a great bakery, shops and Performing Arts Centre) are unique and friendly. This 'home away from home' gated property, in an 'out-of-the-way' location (with high speed internet), offers total  privacy, fabulous natural terrain, floor to ceiling bright and vast vistas.  With no light pollution, the night skies are flooded with stars from horizon to horizon.  Our stay totally exceeded our expectations!  We loved this location that gave us peace, yet provided the access and ease to explore the surrounding desert, canyons, trails and nature preserves. WOW!

Littlehouse on the prairie with more than grand views
Grand Views Casita is a wonderful spot! Just wonderful! The house is beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed and a well stocked kitchen and all the amenities you hope for in a vacation rental. The owner and her caretaker are very attentive to details and were very responsive to our needs. And then there are the views and the setting of the house which are outstanding! We were greeted upon our arrival by a herd of Pronghorn and deer were frequent visitors. The aptly named Mountain Empire is a place to return to again and again as is there is so much to do and so much to see. Access to The Empire Ranch, which is an 45,000 acre National Natural Conservation Area, is close where there is history and hiking and birding and back roads to explore. The Huachucas and the Santa Rita's are close by where there is so much of the same to do and experience. And the Arizona Trail is easily accessible and really diverse hiking. The birding is wonderful. This is a Globally important birding area. We also liked the proximity to Tucson and the history and culture there along with Saguaro National Park. Top it all off with a little wine tasting at one of the areas wineries and you couldn't ask for more. We are returning. .

Perfect Little Home on the Prairie - A Natural High
This neat little home met or exceeded the advertised description. We have been visiting the Tucson area for over 20 years and have never found a rental property as well equipped. A great private get away, yet only less than an hour to Tucson & Tombstone. Natural wildlife abounds. We observed hawks, mule deer, prong horn antelope, coyote, roadrunners, & plenty of cattle. The owner was a great communicator and kept in close touch to be sure that we were having a wonderful vacation while staying in her casita. If all works out, we hope to be able to return to the "Perfect Little Home on the Prairie".

Beautiful Home on the Prairie!!!
We spent our winter vacation at this beautiful Casita in the outskirts of Sonoita, Arizona and I must say we had a blast. This was our first time, had a lot of fun and did not want to leave. We are already planning to go back soon. The 360 degree views from the house are breathtaking, specially the sunsets over the Santa Rita Mountains. The house sits on a hill, removed from other houses, with unobstructed views of the Santa Rita, Empire, Whetstone, Mustang and Canelo Mountains. The house itself is great. Giant windows all around. It is clean, modern, superbly decorated and stocked with everything we needed, gadgets, small appliances, etc. Everything works, we experienced no problems at all; felt 100% safe and fell in love with this place. This property has it all; a beautiful country setting, privacy, spectacular 360 degree views, comfortable furnishings all just ten minutes away from the town of Sonoita.

We are from Tucson, AZ but live in the Phoenix metro area and we love going to Sonoita and especially to our little house on the prairie. It is set on 40 acres in a gated community and is perched on a hill with 360* views of the Santa Rita Mountains to the west and Whetstone, Mustang, and as far as the Chiricahua Mountains to the east. We love to light the fire in the fireplace and get comfortable while enjoying the scenery, sunset, wildlife, and cool high prairie weather. Sonoita, AZ is a hidden treasure and we are excited to share it with our guests.

Why they chose this property

We love this property because it is a great get-a-way from the hustle bustle of the city, and yet not too far from the city. Tucson and Sierra Vista are only about 45 minutes away and Sonoita is just 10 minutes down the road. White tail deer and prong horn sheep roam the surrounding hills and this is destination for birders from around the world . Did I mention the stunning sunsets? They do not disappoint! Hiking, visiting the burgeoning wine and brewery tasting rooms, the gourmet pizza kitchen, biking, spelunking, fishing and touring the countryside are just a few of the activities in the area. In fact, our property borders Gardner Canyon to the south, so hiking is literally right outside our back door.

What makes this property unique

Our hope is that our guests will enjoy not only the beautiful amenities/finishes inside our home, but also the grand views and big skies that surround it. The wrap around porch offers shade during the day and is a great place to sit in the evening to watch the magnificent sunsets. We have attended to all details to create a unique atmosphere with top of the line finishes for ourselves and our guests including personal art and interior furnishings, comfortable Adirondack porch chairs, a handsome freestanding slate fireplace, granite counter tops, custom bathrooms with cherry cabinets, and beautiful wood/travertine floors. Friends and guests all comment on how wonderful and restful it is and can't believe it is really in Arizona!
