We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This was a perfect location for our needs during this visit. While we did not end up bring our pets, the owner was open to it and provided essentials such as pet bowls. The cottage was cozy but well appointed. The kitchen had more than adequate dishes and utensils as well as a small selection of spices, storage bags/containers, etc. The bathroom was outfitted with essentials and the inclusion of laundry was well appreciated and not typical for the size of the space. The host kept in regular touch throughout our stay to address any needs and provide reminders about trash removal, etc.

I loved my stay and felt at home from the moment I arrived. The house was impeccably clean with lots of little details that made the stay extra comfortable. It was clear the host put a lot of care into making guests feel welcomed.The home was truly pet‑friendly! (My dog Ellie says thank you for the comfy dog bed!) It is close to the beach and in a quiet area and most important for me— made me feel completely safe and at ease throughout our stay. The host was wonderful: responsive, kind, and easy to communicate with, which also was comforting.Everything was exactly as described, thoughtfully arranged, and designed to make guests feel comfortable and relaxed. I enjoyed every minute and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We received a very warm welcome—complete with a half-eaten bag of candy thoughtfully displayed on top of the bedroom dresser. Nothing says “welcome” quite like mystery snacks left behind by previous guests.The bed also came with an unexpected complimentary feature: enough pet hair to let us know we weren’t the first ones to enjoy it. Wearing a black shirt to bed turned out to be the perfect way to appreciate the housekeeping details.The coffee maker seemed to have its own unique brewing technique. It generously shared coffee with the countertop, pouring more outside the coffee pot than inside it. If you’re looking for an artistic coffee experience, this machine delivers.Finally, although the property accommodates multiple guests, there weren’t any extra blankets available for a third adult. Apparently, staying warm was intended to be a team-building exercise.On a positive note, these are all issues that are easily fixable. With a more thorough cleaning, a working coffee maker, fresh supplies, and a few extra blankets, this property could provide a much better experience for future guests.

Good morning, and thank you for sharing your experience! It’s unfortunate that your stay was far from perfect. Our cleaner is the best we’ve ever had, and while mistakes are rare, they’re not impossible. I’ve shared your feedback so we can continue to provide the best experience as possible. Since we stayed at the property last night, I can easily address a couple of the other items you mentioned. There are three bedspreads and three blankets available for use. They've been enough for 4 guests in the past, let me know if you were unable to find them. We were able to to do the count pretty quickly this morning. Regarding the coffee maker, the reusable coffee filter was in one of the cupboards, and we brewed coffee this morning without a hitch. It sounds like you ran the coffee maker without using a filter, which certainly makes for a disaster! 😬 Please send me a PM with the supplies you felt were missing. It’s pretty well stocked, but we’re always looking for ways to improve the space, and if there’s something we haven’t thought of, we’d genuinely appreciate the insight. Most importantly, with any short-term stay, whether with us or another host, I highly recommend reaching out during your stay with any issues, questions, or other needs so they can be addressed right away. Our stays at other STRs are always great, regardless of the situation, because we contact the host if an issue arises or we simply have questions. I’d expect you’d have consistently great short term rental experiences as well if you take the same approach! We hope you consider us again the next time you are in OOB.

My stay at the cottage was exactly what I needed, it’s an updated beachy vibe and excellent use of every space including some rainy day puzzles and books! The small fenced in yard was perfect for the furry family members, and you cant beat the location, such a close walk to the beach, and just far enough away from the busy OOB hustle! My name is Chris and I'm a Maine native born in Portland and grew up in Gorham, ME not too far from OOB. My wife, Sue, is from NH, but is fast becoming a big fan of Maine. We're pretty easy going and love sharing the great state of Maine with newcomers, especially those who have never been here before!

In our spare time we spend a lot of time with family and friends and love finding new adventures. Some of our favorite past times are enjoying the outdoors when it is warm, playing cribbage or taking our beloved Teddy to woods where he leaps like a gazelle with glee over brush and trees, or to the beach where he would give a greyhound a run for his money for hours!

I built houses with my dad when I was a kid. A handful of them were on Chebeague Island where we would stay in a tent often while we were putting up the frame out there. I learned a lot from him on how to do much of the work, so most of the place has been refurbished by myself, a layer of Sue's great eye for decorating, and some pros sprinkled in to try to make this place the best it possibly can offer.

Why they chose this property

I found this hidden gem back in 2017. The street is quiet, the neighbors are great, and there is so much to do in the area from the beach and pier, to the quick drive up to Portland, or down to Kittery. OOB is about as centrally located as you can get for the southern Maine coastline.

What makes this property unique

When I found this place it had solid bones, but needed some serious TLC and I saw a lot of potential in it. It has taken me many years to refurbish this place to its former glory after what looked like a couple decades of neglect. I wanted to keep some of the OOB summer campish feel with the kitchen while balancing it with an ocean side, warm home feel.
