Stayed at the lovely Bluegum Church with some friends while attending Wonder Mountain festival in Beechworth. It was perfect - such a gorgeous place to retire to after lots of dancing. Very peaceful, fantastic garden/grounds, great for a small group.

Couldn't beat for a location surrounded by beautiful nature. The gorgeous church had everything we could need - warm fire, comfy beds and trees all around. Highly recommend.
When we first looked at this place we were unsure of how far from Beechworth it was, but really it was a 10 minute drive through some beautiful countryside.
The place was so peaceful and quiet. Lots of space, both inside and out. We loved it.
There is something about the serenity in staying in an old church.
Highly recommend.

The accommodation was tranquil and very relaxing. The property was so nice to embrace with the natural beauty and the wildlife.
Amazing property with unique features a short drive from Beechworth. Spacious kitchen & living areas, comfortable bedrooms & small but stunning bathroom. We all enjoyed our 6 night stay here at Stanley amongst the fresh country air & natural bush setting.

Sue thanks for your lovely review. We are thrilled you had such a lovely time. We will be sure to send feedback to the owners of the property too. We would love to see you again one day.
I would describe the cottage as a rough diamond. We absolutely loved the location amongst the trees and hearing the birds in the morning - it was so tranquil and beautiful. We loved the charm and rustic nature of the place, and the newly renovated bathroom with the sky light. So many lovely places around the property to sit and enjoy. The Stanley pub is a must and we did some local walks too which were great (don’t forget your hiking shoes like us!). In terms of the rough edges - we had a few issues on arrival that got resolved by the lovely host. The washing machine wasn’t clean and so we didn’t use it and improvements could be made overall to the cleanliness of the place (e,g cleaning around furniture, tidying away some of the things). Some crisp white sheets/bedding would make such a big difference. Kitchen was nice but missing a few basic cooking essentials; e.g cooking oil and better than basic coffee making. For the price point (and noting we are a couple), it was expensive given the basic facilities when comparing to other places we’ve stayed. This place might be better suited to a family or several couples. With its beauty, we would still very much recommend!!
Had a lovely stay. Appreciated the large living area. The teens enjoyed the rope swing. Bathroom is small but lovely. Had some difficulty getting the DVD to work. Ditto the oven. But we got there eventually.
What a treasure Blue Gum Church is cosy, quiet, quirky, organised and clean wonderful fire and well situated for hikes, Beechworth activities, the snow etc Highly recommend we will be back.

Natalie thanks for such a beautiful review. We think Blue Gum Church is pretty special too. We would happily have you back again if ever you make it back this way.
We had a lovely autumnal / winter get away at the Bluegum church. It was very cosy and warm - thanks to Jen for putting the fire on before our arrival. The property is well equipped and as a bonus it has a great book and DVD collection. Beds and couches very comfy. We would come back again should the opportunity arise.
The property is very well decorated, clean and tidy.
For a quiet getaway it is almost perfect (bathtub could be a nice inclusion). The one main issue was the heating as it took too long for the wood heater to warm the large area. The other heaters did not compensate for not having to fire up the pot belly. Otherwise great stay.
From the beautifully renovated interior of the church to the expansive grounds, everything about our stay at Blue Gum Church was perfect. And throw in a pub with good food a 10 minute walk away, what more could you want.
We would have loved to stay here longer at this quiet and secluded property - a true getaway, yet still an easy walk to the Pub. Very homely feel, everything needed was here. Loved having breakfast at the table outside under the dappled sunshine coming through the trees and listening to the stillness of the bush. Would love to stay again.
Regards Karen & Andre, Surrey Hills.
We loved our stay in the Blue Gum Church. The place was clean, the beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed the selection of books and games, but most of all the wonderful garden. The only thing that was missing- wifi connection.

Marina I'm so sorry - the WiFi has just now been put on! Next time!
This was our first trip out of Melbourne after lock down. The house is lovely. Perfect for 4 adults. We had a great meal at the Stanley Pub just a walk away and another delicious dinner the next night followed by live music - Super talented local Musician Liv Cartelidge - at the Empire Hotel. A day spent browsing through the shops in Beechworth, a swim at the lake and sleeping in a hammock at the house. We loved every minute!!
Quiet, quaint and comfortable, perfect for 2 night stay.
We enjoyed our stay but found the 1 toilet limiting for a group of 5. Recommend 1 powder room at the very least.
Very basic facilities but neat and well maintained for an old property.
Directions given by Property Manager were excellent as property was a little discrete in its location.
Heater in the main area was not working which made it quite cold for those sleeping in mezzanine BR
Everything was clean
Very cosy and warm ... the Chapel and it’s surrounds were gorgeous .... a bit sad we had to leave as snow is predicted tomorrow and would have been amazing
