BOATHOUSE IS THE PERFECT COUPLES RETREAT! This completely remodeled and unique boathouse offers some stunning views of the canal and bay. Appointed with 1 bedroom and one full bath, and a full size sleeper sofa, this home comfortably sleeps 4. The boathouse has all new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, stainless appliances, new luxury vinyl flooring and new furniture and decor throughout. This boathouse has a lovely screened in porch that overhangs the canal and the boathouse shares the boat dock with Wild Child next door. This is a wonderful home for just a respite for 2 or can also be booked in conjunction with Wild Child to accommodate larger families. Do not miss your opportunity to stay in this little island gem!

The cutest place

We had the best time at The Boathouse. Perfect description of place. Very clean. Spacious enough for family of 4. Porch was perfect. Shared dock worked great for our boat and next door’s boat. We will be back next year and look to stay at the bigger house with another family! Check in and check out was perfect. Never needed a thing. Xoxox

A nice little place with a few issues.

The check-in was easy, but there was an immediately noticeable issue. Upon entering the residence, we were startled by a smell resembling sewer gases. We called the after hours # and were told that the smell of the unit is the number one reason that they get calls about this rental. The area underneath the rental exposes mud when the tide is out, and a rotten marshy smell fills the unit. We were relieved that this was not a safety issue, but the rental description should have made this known. However, I do recognize that if this condition is mentioned it may steer people clear of renting the property. The cleanliness was good, no sand or soiled surfaces. The washing machine did have wads of long black hair and a slimy texture inside, but we cleaned it out thoroughly upon arrival. Dish soap, clean towels, utensils, and dishwasher pods were neatly provided. The main issue we had about this unit was the air conditioning. The morning of day#1 seemed hot inside, and I checked the thermostat which showed a temp setting of 73, however, the temp inside was 83 degrees. I have the same brand of thermostat at my primary residence so I am very proficient with its operation. I made sure that everything was set correctly to cool the unit, but it continued to expel warm air. I called the hotline again and was redirected to the emergency contact, there was no answer. I tried a second time with no answer. We suffered with heat all week, it was hard to sleep. Still a good trip.

Great location on the canal.

Very nicely designed, well appointed, and functional space above an actual boat house! The screened porch was exceptional, looking out over the canal. We've been vacationing on SGI for 30 years, mostly in very large houses on the beach with extended family. This time, however, it was just my wife and me, and this was the perfect size for a couple.

Great place!

The place was clean and had just about all we needed. The bed was super comfy, except the fitted sheet is not the right size/not deep enough and came off frequently. Screened porch is great, but would be even better with a ceiling fan. Overall, great place!

The Boat House

The Boat House is in a great location, on a canal and 4 easy blocks to the beach. Super convenient. The property though is quirky and was only surface clean. The furniture was uncomfortable and the property slanted so the doors swung open and the bedroom closet door wouldn’t stay closed. Collins Vacation Rentals was great though. Super responsive on all our pre and post arrival needs. Would definitely seek them out for another rental again.
