We had an amazing trip and loved the property. Communication with the rental company is lacking and overall cleanliness could have been better (ceiling fans and light fixtures dusty, etc.).
This was our second stay at River Dunes in this cottage. It was equally as great as the first time. Fully equipped cottage with everything you could need and River Dunes is a lovely community with beautiful amenities! Highly recommend.
Wonderful property at River Dunes. Upon arrival we received an extremely informative welcome packet that included a weekend itinerary (4th of July weekend). Communication with the rental company was extremely easy. Would recommend for a small family

Love River Dunes!
Is was our first time there. We felt safe during Tropical storm Ophelia because of the nice constructed home.
Loved the easygoing bike riding atmosphere. We will be returning soon!
The River Dunes development is quite the hidden gem in Oriental. The atmosphere reminds me of Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC many years ago. Broad Creek cottage is a well maintained & equipped escape in a relaxing environment. I brought my parents with me and both enjoyed our time in Rover Dunes and plan to return again in the future. The host was very accommodating to let our 2nd family dog come along for the trip which was appreciated!
My friend and I traveled a little over 5 hours to participate in the Oriental Dragon Boat Festival held at River Dunes. Upon arriving everything went as well as expected. From entering the dwelling to getting settled and eventually leaving. The dwelling was clean and furnished above and beyond. The only thing that gave us difficulty was the television station we were told to use. The sound on the station was in and out. Other stations the sound was fine. I do consider that a minor issue. We felt safe and comfortable. Everyone we came in contact at River Dunes was friendly and helpful. We shopped at the Provision store and had lunch at Yawl's Cafe and the staff was great at both places. I highly recommend staying at River Dunes and hopefully next year we will be back and be able to stay even longer.
We stayed 2 nights. The house was beautiful, very well decorated and location is very quiet and peaceful. I sent 2 messages through the Vrbo portal asking for a late checkout and never received a response. Then on the morning of checkout I sent a text requesting the same and was denied. When I stated that I had sent them 2 requests, there was no acknowledgement that they had failed to respond to my messages and the texts were snarky. Additionally, there was no water coming through the pipes at about midnight on the first night. I messaged the agency and was told it was a community issue and they would send someone out the next day. Although the issue was fixed the next morning, I never received a follow up message apologizing or checking to make sure our issue was resolved. Lastly, the site said the yacht club had a dinner club and we would have access. We had planned to have dinner there the 2nd night but they only provided a food truck in the parking lot and did not serve dinner at the club. Communication was not the greatest, but the house was really nice.

LOVE this spot! Living in Emerald Isle this is just what I need when I want to get away for a couple days - great "staycation" spot with just enough to do yet far away to get away from "real" life! Looking forward to being back in a couple months to enjoy the fall weather! LOVE seeing all the new construction going on in the community!
Everything was perfect at River Dunes. The cottage was lovely and equipped with everything we could need. We enjoyed the amenities of the River Dunes Club immensely. Would highly recommend!
The property was more charming in person that it was in the pictures if that is even possible - I wanted a "staycation" to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and this property was perfect! I felt like I was in a resort community somewhere like Charleston and only being a little over a drive home! I have several friends and clients that live in River Dunes and actually ran into them at dinner one night and the Café the next day! I will be back several times a year and look forward to booking a retreat in the Fall for my company! Absolutely no complaints from me!
Everything was wonderful and exceeded expectations! The community amenities were a big added bonus. It was a peaceful, idyllic place to get away with friends.
We had two days for a quick trip from Raleigh. Our friends own a home in River Dunes and suggested coming down. The weather was perfect for boating, bike riding and lounging by the pool! The house was beautiful and offered everything we needed foe our trip! Highly recommend for a quick trip.
