Country Serenity Retreat-Private, Peaceful by the River
We have a wonderful and peaceful place for family gatherings nestled down a hill, in a private cul de sac, and on a river-and the other side of the river is uninhabited DNR land-it doesn’t get more private!
Ideal for small company leadership or church staff retreats as well. 21.5 acres of land up against 1500 feet of river frontage. Take time to truly “be present” and enjoy your family with cookouts, fishing along the river , or reading in solitude. Quiet clubs like scrapbooking, or nature enthusiasts will enjoy 16.5 acres of unplatted land. All of this, and only ~30 miles from the Twin Cities! You’ll feel Like you are hours away. Some have shared that it has a very ‘up north’ feeling-probably due to the cabin with high quality log furniture throughout. 4 queen beds-2 of them have twin log bunks. All beds except the master are made of Minnesota pine-the State Tree.
For the enjoyment of all future guests, no smoking of any kind of tobacco, and no pets are allowed for any VRBO/Home Away reservations. Thank you.

House was located in a perfect spot for our trip. Beautiful surroundings and extremely quiet.
Owner was extremely responsive and welcomes open communication.
We will stay again when heading to the area to visit family.
We had a project near by and needed short term accommodations for a crew of 6. The house was set up well for us, a good place to relax and recharge for the next day. The host was very friendly as well.
We were in the area for a wedding. The cabin is spacious and beautiful with plenty of room. The property is secluded, with great views. Wish we had more time to enjoy it.
Nice private cabin on dead end road. Cabin has plenty of room for larger families. Several locations for bonfires. Wood platform on river for fishing. We brought a large fan and cords to make being outside more bearable, Mn. is having quite the mosquito population this year. Owner was there to check us in and chat when we arrived. Overall a nice weekend getaway.
This is a spacious, unique cabin on a beautiful property, perfect for those who want to disconnect. Close to several local towns. Carleton was a very communicative host, always available to answer questions. We found a delightful Mexican restaurant in Buffalo, Rancho Grande. Great food and service, excellent margaritas!!
It was great! Our host was wonderful! There when we needed him and very informative, and took his time with explaining things to me. This place is spacious; lots of movies, games and ping pong! The website doesn't do this place justice....Carlton, you need to post more pictures!! We saw wildlife, no other people around us, & very private! So green and loved the Weeping Willow tree out front. Had fun with our small family at their place in Minnesota and this VRBO. Such a great bonding time was had by all. Thanks Carlton!!!
We had adult family members (age range 57-70) who wanted a quiet place to stay while they were visiting. This was a great location where they could go to relax. The owner was friendly and communicative, and made sure everything was taken care of.
We had a wonderful stay at this property and the amazing location. If you are looking for a get away where you can get to nature without a long drive from the Cities, this is your spot.
We had a lovely weekend in Waverly celebrating our mom’s 60th birthday. The cabin was adorable, comfortable and welcoming. It’s well equipped with everything you’d need for your stay and then some! Photos don’t do this cabin justice. We loved the large deck and wraparound porch, yard games under the willow tree and fishing in the river. Carlton is a thoughtful, engaged host who does whatever he can to make your stay a relaxing one.
We had a wonderful weekend unplugged from the chaos of city/work life!
Being able to sit on the beautiful wrap around deck, fish by the river and just plain relax from the day to day was so very much needed!
We had a wonderful early anniversary weekend and truly enjoyed our stay!
The cabin had everything we needed and plenty of space, including a great deck. The owner was proactive in communication and made us feel at home. The home could really sleep 10 in beds if you can put 2 in each queen. Would like to have had more outdoor furniture to take advantage of the deck. It was very private and quiet, which was nice for us to be able to get some time away from our large family at a wedding.
Small notes:
There is no wifi or cable, this is on purpose, but think that should be more clearly stated these days. Cell service was good out on the deck, but very spotty inside.
iPhones had a little trouble finding the right house on the map, but I thought it was very easy in and out and the road was well maintained.
I found it odd to be asked to take our trash with us, especially as we were 6 people there for 3 days.

Great Get Away
Rental was great. A lot of open space for the kids to run around and play. There was a lot of enjoyment pulling some big carp out of the river and just enjoying the quietness.
This was the perfect, serene retreat we needed! The river was so calming and relaxing. The property was sprawling yet cozy. Highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a peaceful get-away!
We loved the property. Sitting on the deck was just wonderful. We enjoyed fishing and walking the property. It’s out of the city enough that you can see many stars at night. There are choices of 3 fire pits, which is awesome. We enjoyed watching a storm from the deck. Carlton is a good host. The only recommendation I would have is some different cooking supplies.
The property is nestled near a river with sounds of nature and roosters in the distance. The property is large with lots of places to explore. We loved the cabin and grounds. The Weeping Willow off the deck is beautiful.
Some minor improvements could be additional information on the listing/better pictures. The main level bathroom sink had almost no water flow/pressure. There was no shower liner in the main level bathroom. Could look at leaving towels and soap out for the bathroom on the main level. The lower level featured a nice bathroom with towels and soap. If the intent is to have guests shower in the lower level, a note/sign could help guide guests. Could also look at getting an automatic door lock (code) for the property instead of physical keys. Cellular service is the only access to the internet and that was spotty. There is a TV in the cabin, but no service, so DVDs (some on hand at the cabin) or downloaded movies are a must. It would be great for the owner to put together some information about the property and provide a list of things to do in surrounding cities. Upon arrival, we discovered all doors and windows were unlocked, ensure all access points are locked for your guests. Additional care can bring this property from great to amazing (grounds cleanup, power washing, etc.). Look at adding minor touches to make your guests feel more welcome (e.g. Guest book opened, welcome note to guests, items placed where guests can use them (towels, remotes), etc.).
The furniture was very nice, the beds were comfortable and clean. Air conditioning was great. There was ample room for our items in the refrigerator. There was a coffee maker, microwave, oven, and toaster, DVD player, TV available. The covered porch is great and the deck is very large. Overall, we loved our stay at the Waverly Cabin. It was perfect for what we were looking for. Thank you!
