About this property
Spacious Family Place with Game Room, Great Fishing & Sunsets + a Nearby Winery
For a serene getaway near Dassel, this beautiful home features five bedrooms that offer stunning lakeside vistas and plenty of chances for unwinding and exploring. Step inside and discover a fully stocked kitchen, complete with a stove, oven, refrigerator, and all the essentials you need to whip up delicious meals. Gather around the cozy fireplace in the living room, or head outside to enjoy the fresh air and take in the stunning scenery from the comfort of the beach loungers or a relaxing campfire.
Guests can enjoy our large game room year-round with a bonus fridge, microwave and tables. When the water calls explore this lightly developed 684-acre lake, which is part of the Crow river system. It's known for low traffic and great fishing year-round, especially walleye.
Indulge in the convenience of free WiFi, a washing machine and dryer, and air conditioning (or heating) to ensure your stay is as comfortable as can be. When it's time to unwind, challenge your friends to a game of ping pong, air hockey or foosball in the game room, work on a puzzle, curl up with a good read, or play a board game.
With two bathrooms (towels and basic soaps), you'll have everything you need to feel right at home. And for the little ones, there are 2 pack n plays for use, high chairs, a baby monitor, baby gate, infant bath support and 2 portable cradles. Not to mention a wide selection of books, movies, games, toys, and outdoor activities to keep them entertained.
For summer guests we have a classic canoe, multiple adult and youth kayaks, and a paddle board in both adult & youth size. Our shoreline has a sandy-rocky bottom with minimal weeds, and a low-slope out. Depending on spring rains, water depths will vary (and shoreline can vary, as well, depending on how much rain we get); but often it's shallow enough for wading and swimming with little ones.
Relax with your morning coffee or enjoy the sunsets from our patio or the deck on the stairs. Our tree-lined lot offers both shade and sun with open flat areas for lawn games and star gazing. Opposite our property are scenic woodlands, marshes and rolling prairie in the State Wildlife Mgmt lands.
Note that the game room is our finished off garage, and is temp-controlled with options for AC and heat, making it a great place for pets, as well.
For your grilling needs we have both charcoal and gas grills, with propane provided - and these are just a few steps from the back door.
The TVs are fitted with Google Chromecasts + DVD players, and there are movie collections on each level. You will also find a wide selection of books, cards, board-games, puzzles and toys. The "living room" sleeping space is our lower level great room with (3) twin-over-full bunk beds. Note that there is not a door to this room, as it's directly at the bottom of the stairs.
The Public Access is on the north end of the lake (about 1/4 mile from us) and has a concrete ramp, parking area and a sandy beach-like area. This also allows for overnight parking, if needed.
** There is a dock but no boat lift. Please bring an anchor for any watercraft you bring to anchor near shore overnight.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
* The Garden Tea Nook in Dassel has homemade scones & soups with an impressive selection of teas
* Cokato has Bait & Hook restaurant (see website for openings, you will want reservations) -- Double Shot coffee shop (breakfast and lunch) -- Dairy Queen -- SubWay -- Lucky Kitchen -- 4 gas stations -- Grounds on the Green coffee shop
* We're 6.5 miles from Millner Heritage Winery, which offers trolley tours & special events in summer months
* 12 miles to Son of a Butcher bar & grill
* 16 miles to Powder Ridge Ski Area, with downhill skiing & snowboarding + great tubing
* Darwin is just "next door" and hosts the World's Largest Twine Ball made by one man (and a museum) for some quirky, memorable fun - as well there is a large sledding hill for use in winter months
* Nearby Litchfield has the Starlite Drive-In Movie Theater, a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Peter's (restaurant) on Lake Ripley, or Heroes at the VFW for a Sunday brunch and fun martini selection
* Hutchinson is 25 min away and offers shopping venues from small biz shops to a strip mall - many coffee shops, restaurant and shopping options
* It's 32 miles to the St Cloud mall (and plenty of restaurants, shops and activities) or 50 miles to the west Minneapolis suburbs, and 67 miles to the Mall of America or international airport

About the host
Hosted by Reed & Rachel Vieau
Having grown up in small towns, we have always enjoyed being in the outdoors year-round. Our home offers you great opportunities to do the same! Completely renovated in 2004 it has a brand new basement and exterior, plus all new *everything* inside. Our main level boasts teak wood and Travertine floors and a beautiful view of the lake with memorable sunsets.
Reed went to college for firefighting, while I attended college in Iowa for communications. Though we grew up in the same town, our paths didn't cross until we were both well out of school. I currently manage our property and will be your main contact. We love peaceful lake settings and relaxing in the outdoors, which motivates us to help you do the same!

Why they chose this property
Surrounded by trees the home offers privacy and solitude without feeling closed in. The open view from the front door draws your eyes to the gorgeous vista of the lake below, where you can get in some swimming or fishing as the lake plenty of room to relax on a pontoon or set out your ice house! The neighborhood has a lovely drive with lots of trees for quiet walks or bike rides. As our property does have elevation, there is a small landing on the lake stairs where you can sit and watch for all kinds of wildlife.
In this "heart of the lakes" region, where neighbors are like friends, it's easy to feel like you're in the country yet still have a wide range of things to do and see. Several small towns offer unique sights, eateries and shops, including a popular winery, art galleries & museums. Or you can get to larger towns within 30-40 minutes with Minneapolis and its western suburbs being just about an hour away.

What makes this property unique
The view is gorgeous and the home is beautiful with a main level arched hallway, spacious kitchen, and an 8-ft patio door framed by large windows for enhanced lake views and natural light. There is also ample space to spread out, with 4 bedrooms one can sneak away to for a nap. We love the cozy campfire area in the backyard, and that even when a rainy day occurs groups can gather in the garage for a ping pong tournament, air hockey match, or games and meals at the banquet tables.
