Affordable Family Beach House With Yard and Offstreet Parking

Welcome to the Walch family beach house in Ocean City NJ. This lovely vintage home, circa 1900, has been in our family since 1969 and has provided us with many wonderful family vacations. It is unique in the space it provides for large gatherings with old friends and family at an affordable price. There is an open deck for warm sunny days and a beautiful indoor porch for rainy days. We have off street parking for three cars, a yard for kids to play in and you can walk to the beach. The house is located in a neighborhood of families that reside there all year so the house is not appropriate for events or as a party venue. Also please note this house has window units for air conditioning. There is NO central AC.

Very old school beach house . Great for family weekend. Owner very accessible. No dryer or dishwasher but wasn’t an issue for us. Wrap around porch was amazing. Great sunsets over bay

Wonderful Vintage Beach Home

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Walch's vintage beach home with eight other family members. The pre-trip package provided by the owners was exceptional for describing the facility and its many amenities. Communication of answers to questions we had was always timely and thorough. Available off street parking was a huge plus. The closeness of downtown restaurants/shops/groceries made for easy access for our walking adult family. I will not hesitate to stay there again on a future vacation in Ocean City.

Great old school beach house

For those who watched "Boardwalk Empire", this location reminded me of the grand old homes of that era. Beautiful wood interior and built-ins. On the down side, old school fixtures (ex. separate hot and cold faucets in the bathroom sink!) and no central air (room AC's did a fine job) but we loved it! Plenty of room for our family of 4 adults and a toddler and close to Acme, shopping and dining (nice bagel bakery across the street). Very enjoyable stay in OC.

Perfect hosts, family home and location

There were 9 of us. 6 adults and 3 kids. The enclosed porch was a favorite spot for doing puzzles, relaxing, chatting, reading, drinking coffee, or playing games. Plenty of space to move around. Close enough to the beach and boardwalk to walk and 1 block from the bay for pretty sunsets. Also close enough to the 9th street bridge to walk or ride a bike for a pretty sunrise. The host provided plenty of information to make our stay perfect and answered any questions we had. We would love to come back here again. Thank you for having us!

What a value for a multi-family beach vacation!

First off, the owners did a great job of describing the property so we knew exactly what we were getting into. This is a beach house that is over 100 years old with all the charm and quirkiness that one could expect. It was great! There were 9 of us and everyone had their own bed! I doubt there's another property in the area that could accommodate that. there isn't a dishwasher (that what the teenagers are for!). There isn't a clothes dryer, but there is a clothesline. There isn't central AC, but there are window AC units (which did the job). There is a parking pad in the back so you don't have to worry about finding a place to park on the beach. Linens are not provided, but I get the impression that this is standard practice for the Jersey shore. I believe that there are linen services that you can contact, we had our family from Philadelphia bring sheets/towels for everyone. It's in a residential area with a lot of locals so I wouldn't plan on having a big party there. There is a gas grill available and it works great. Its a bit of a walk to the beach, but definitely doable. Some days I would drive everyone to the beach, drop them off, go back to the house to park and then walked to meet up with everyone. Worked like a charm and didn't have to pay for parking! The owners were amazing and so helpful. All things considered, we had a GREAT time! I would definitely stay there again.

Ocean City Lovers

Nous sommes deux familles de Québec, donc 4 adultes et 5 adolescents entre 11 et 16 ans. 2e année pour nous dans l’état du NJ. Nous avons adoré notre séjour! La maison est parfaite pour les deux familles , assez de place pour notre groupe. Maison super bien équipée! Surtout en articles de cuisine, peut-être un linge ou deux à vaisselle supplémentaire serait encore mieux! La maison était propre a notre arrivée! Les indications pour le stationnement et accéder a la maison sont clairs. Les propriétaires répondent rapidement a nos interrogations. Belle distance de marche pour se rendre a la plage. Recommande cette propriété sans problème!

Great house, great location

We loved the vintage style of the house. Plenty of room and spots to hang out. Short walk to downtown and easy walk to boardwalk. Owner was very accommodating. A stall around the outside shower would make this place perfect!

Great Value with Solid Location

Property owner is very nice with fast responses. House is a vintage home but fit my family for a great price. The location is right in OC with a walk to the beach and boardwalk.

Fabulous beach vacation

We had a wonderful time in Ocean City! The house is cute and quirky as old houses are, and perfectly suited what we were looking for. We had an amazing time going to the beach, riding the amusement park rides and exploring. It was a great home base with young children.

Vintage house

Diana , the owner, was wonderful to work with from beginning to end! She provided all the details we needed to plan our stay and even suggested some great spots to check out in the area! The house is described as “vintage” and that is accurate! The house is great for big families, especially with kids. Lots of room for meals in the large dining room. The kitchen is generously stocked with all your needs. Two of the five bedrooms are connected, so essentially they are one room. This works better for kids than adults. All the mattresses were comfortable. The house is cooled by window units, which is fine for the bedrooms, but the gathering spaces were quite warm during our stay in the heat of July. Diana told me they were replacing the unit. We love an outside shower while at the shore, but there was only a rinse off shower. An outside shower would be a bonus for this house since there is only one full bathroom. Whenever we had an issue or concern with our stay, Diana was quick to respond & provide a solution. If it is luxury you are seeking for your stay this wouldn’t be the house for you, but if it is charm & nostalgia of days gone by then check it out.

We are second generation family owners trying to maintain a beach experience for our children (and hopefully yours) that is fast disappearing. The house has wonderful beach charactor and some flaws, but it feels like a house at the beach, not a house in Anywhere, USA.

Why they chose this property

Our house has a unique character fast disappearing in Ocean City. The enclosed front porch, back deck and other spaces in the house allow you to spread out and even have a little privacy when you need it. The house is close enough to most city attractions that you can leave the car parked. The grocery store, beach and downtown shopping are all within walking distance.
