Everything was wonderful and we had a lovely time! The only thing we didn’t expect is that the property’s treated well water smells slightly, if we had known we would have stocked up on bottled water to bring along. We will be back, the kids loved it! The big yard was great for exploring and playing soccer, and the inside of the home was impeccably clean and cozy.
Simply one of the very best VRBOs I have ever stayed in!! Camano Island is a beautiful area of Washington and close to everything you would want to do ! The renovation of the “Arlene” is amazing , you can see the whole story in a photo book the owners have displayed in the home!!
My husband and I and our adult son stayed at the Arlene as a home base visiting family in Stanwood and exploring the local area. It is a lovely property in a quiet neighborhood. Clean and comfortable with decor that is not fussy and overwhelming. We were sorry not to be there enough to use the fire pit and all the kitchen gadgets. Will try to book it for future trips.
Wonderful stay at the Arlene. Marla was an excellent host. The home was so nice and clean and had just enough of the old farmhouse charm with a great modern bath(s) and kitchen. We enjoyed our stay!
Superb home in impeccable shape, restored to its original beauty and charm! Very warm and comfortable, perfect for either a weekend or long-term stay as we did!! Highly recommend this property, we’ve already encouraged other family members to consider it for future visits!
This property worked great for our late summer mini to getaway. It was homey, comfy, clean, had everything we needed (and more), and had a nice open yard for running around. We appreciated the small welcoming touches and the generous check-in and check-out times. We would definitely stay again.
We are repeat customers at this location and we just love it. The owners did an awesome job at renovating this farmhouse, we had everything we needed to cook while onsite (which is a big thing for us); the location on Camano Island is also beautiful and relatively close to Stanwood where you have more options for provisions and dining as well.
My husband and I had the best 2 weeks at this property. Marla's communication was awesome answered questions quickly. She left us Crumbl Cookies which was a big hit with our family. We would absolutely stay there again.
Peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend. Remodel done with great care and good taste. Thank you for saving the home and sharing it with the public
Beautifully renovated farm house! Clean, comfortable and room to spread out. It is close to family I visited for 2 weeks. I have had my eye on this listing for some time and glad it was available for me to book.
The house was beautiful and the host was amazing. Excellent communication and everything you could possibly need. I would recommend this place to anyone who is considering going to the area.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ right back at you Jimmy. Thank you for the kind words!
This would be our second stay at Arlene’s. The farmhouse has everything you could need, beds are excellent, kitchen is fully stocked, used the grill regularly. Best front porch to watch your day start or your evening end. We made it to the Stanwood community fair, Friday farmers market, trivia on Wednesday at pub 282, kayaked on lake Howard and got in 10 rounds of golf. Can’t wait to get back next year…
We stayed at the Arlene again while visiting family in town. The house was as wonderful as last time. Super clean, comfortable and equipped. Probably the only thing that would have made our stay even better was an electric kettle for tea. But that’s just me being fussy. Awesome place, would definitely stay again.
This is the perfect get away home for one person or a small family. The property is situated right in the midst of bayside walking and easy driving to all the island amenities. It's setting is next to a large field which gives one a sense of space and serenity at this very gracious get away home.
We enjoyed our stay at The Arlene. It was great to get away but still have the comforts of home.
We were a little uneasy about traveling during COVID times, but we felt very safe. The house was well cleaned and away from others houses.
We are definitely going to visit again.

Why they chose this property
This farmhouse was built in 1914, and was owned by the original owner's granddaughter (Arlene). She had moved out decades ago, and the house was vacant and overgrown. I would drive past this house every day on my way to and from work. I could tell it was a unique home, even though the trees and hedges were hiding the majority of it. I looked up the owner on the county records, and sent Arlene a note showing an interest in the property. I sent her notes for about 5 years, until we finally met at the house and we made her an offer that she accepted. We hired a contractor who took it down to the studs, added a new roof, new kitchen, added a bathroom, removed the wall separating the living room from the kitchen and along the way discovered beautiful shiplap, clear fir floors and other unique treasures that we incorporated into the remodel. She has great vibes!
