Beautiful home and farm!
The house is perfect for a large family. The farm surrounding the home is well-attended and makes for beautiful scenery. The kitchen had everything we needed and more.
Exceeded all expectations from the moment we arrived. Property is surrounded by peaceful grazing horses. House is spacious. Decor elevated & exceptional. Everything we could possibly need for a memorable family vacation. Definitely our new favorite.
Memorial Day plus Grandma's 90th Birthday Celebration Nearby
Everything about the stay was exactly as stated and pictured. The only thing that could have been better was the weather and if you live in Michigan which we do you can't be surprised byn that! We would definitey stay there again.
We absolutely love staying at the Potato House! The setting and home are beautiful. The host is so responsive and helpful. We are return renters and we will be back (again and again)!
The Potato House is extremely comfortable and it’s furnished beautifully. You can’t beat the location! The wood burning fireplace is the icing on the cake.
We had pretty high expectations for this rental — which were not only met but were exceeded. This is an incredible property and grounds which clearly maintained with great care. We enjoyed every little detail including the meticulously curated furnishings and decor, the fabulous layout of the house, the history of the home, the tunnel of trees location and proximity to downtown Harbor Springs, the beautiful horses always in view, and so much more. We would not hesitate to stay at this special home again should we have the opportunity.
Absolutely fantastic from our first step through the front door to the sad goodbye when we locked up and left this unique gem. The “Potato House” will not disappoint. Peace, comfort with elevated rustic charm just minutes from Harbor Springs. Chris is GREAT. Communication was smooth and prompt from the moment of booking. I would highly recommend for anyone seeking a clean, comfortable, well located VRBO experience. A future visit is anticipated!
Our family gathered at the Potato House for the holidays, and it was magical. It is such a special place. The layout of the home is so comfortable and was absolutely perfect for our family time together. The furnishings are exceptional and unique, which gave the whole place so much charm. The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was such a treat to entertain our family there. The bedrooms were cozy and comfortable—everything was just perfect. One of the highlights was the horses around the property, and nearby downtown Harbor Springs feels truly magical during the holiday season. A huge thank you to Chris for making the home feel so special when we arrived, including the beautiful Christmas tree. His kindness and quick responses made us feel very welcome, and we appreciated that so much. Thank you, Potato House—we made wonderful family memories with you, and we hope to see you again.
This property was so incredible. The house is beautiful, well equipt, comfortable and clean. This is the only VRBO I have rented that had everything I needed in the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. The property is stunning, the location is perfect. I can't wait to stay here again!

Fantastic Stay - Will book again!
The Potato House is charming and cozy, with luxury details. It is also the cleanest rental I have had the pleasure of staying in. The kitchen and bathrooms are newly renovated with high-end finishes and appliances, and all bedding is immaculately clean and comfortable. The hosts were attentive to any questions and needs. The grounds are very well-kept, and the views of the horses in the pastures are picturesque. It is a very peaceful location, and the drive to downtown is only 5-7 minutes. Thornhill Nature Preserve is just down the road, which is a wonderful short hike to the beach. Pond Hill Farm is another very close spot that is a must-visit for lunch or dinner. We will definitely stay again.
Our vacation to the Harbor Springs area was a perfect mix of sight seeing and relaxation. The "relaxation" was in abundance at The Potato House. We could adventure during the day then come "home" to a beautiful place on gorgeous property with ammenties to fit our needs. The horses nearby added to the calm and wonder for our daughters. I have 3 "girls" with 2 on the autism spectrum and I would find them engaging with the horses. Once home, I was told the horses were already missed.
Such a unique and wonderful experience!
Thank you,

Family Fun
The Potato House fit our needs perfectly. If you are on the fence about booking this beautiful, historic home you should go ahead and book it, do not hesitate. The setting is idyllic, with beautiful horses in fenced pens surrounding you. It is a grand house, with superlative outdoor spaces. We enjoyed making smores using the fire pit. We hosted the rest of the family for pizza night. A big hit was the actual Potato storage dining area. We played lots of games around the ample dining room table. The newly renovated kitchen and baths are beautiful. Our bedrooms were grand-the grandkids loved the papa-bear beds. The living room has the largest TV I've ever seen, and Shrek was a hit one evening.Chris was an awesome liaison to our questions. Our host, Karen, was super accommodating. I would love to think Potato House can be in our future. Thank you!!

Some hiccups but overall okay
So one night I took the windex and paper towels under the sink and cleaned a spot on the table for crafts. I was stunned that the paper towel had my handprints in dirt on the side I used to clean. The cleaning service missed some key spots including the kitchen island as well. There were a couple listed amenities missing that we wanted like a hair dryer and DVD player. After some texts and a call we got the hairdryer from the owner who was nice enough to drop one off. Outstanding is the horse farm next to the property. Peace and quiet in abundance. Also kudos to thinking about everything we could possibly need such as flashlights by our beds and setting up fresh firewood in the fireplace. Fix the cleaning service and this is a higher rating.

Hi Susan, thank you for your review. We wanted to pass along the following feedback from the homeowners: "Dear Susan, we will review the cleaning of all areas. So sorry that this happened. We imagine the handprint you referred to was caused by the Old English stain we use on our antique kitchen island and dining tables.
Yes, we purchased a new hair dryer right away when I got your call and took it to you directly, and on checkout I personally found the second dryer in one of the bathrooms. No telling what had occurred. As far as the DVD player, Evolve took responsibility for it being on a homeowner listing - I definitely have never promised anything to anyone in our description, that the vacation home can not deliver.
We are so happy that you enjoyed the peace and quiet, and when these reviews come in, it makes our property standards get better and better. Thank you! Hope you do come back soon!"
The setting is wonderful and our dog loved the horses. The reason for the three star overall rating is the inconvenient access to the main level. To go from the garage to the main level, one must go up a flight of stairs, out the door to the front porch, turn and go through the main entrance and then down a flight of stairs. This makes taking coolers and luggage to the main level extremely inconvenient. Also, our dog doesn’t do stairs. We had to take him out through the sliding doors to the patio – which is quite wonderful – and then one person had to lock the sliders and then go back up the stairs, into the garage, down the stairs, and drive around and get the dog. A door cut through from the garage to the main level would have made our stay much better.

Hi Sharon, the homeowner has asked us to share this response:
We are sorry that you had trouble accessing the home.
When you pull into our driveway, it is a short walk up 3 -4 stairs and into the house where the upper floor bedrooms and bathroom are located. We let guests know that if the stairs are a problem, access to the lower floor, which has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, and the kitchen, can be accessed by a sliding door; no stairs are needed.
On the dining room table is a short letter which includes my cell phone, where I offer to fix any inconveniences that may arise.
For any guests in the future that need help with their luggage, we are glad to help. Just call us; we live close by.
Again our apologies for your inconvenience. We are dog owners ourselves, so we understand that many dogs cannot use stairs.
We aim to give every guest a great experience and appreciate your feedback.

It’s a difficult property for older people because of the stairs.
It is bucolic setting with horses grazing. Charming decor.

Perfect choice
This was our first experience renting a home and using Evolve as the agency.
I must say we made the perfect choice!
Our stay at the Potato House was just what our family needed to get away. The home has been renovated from an actual antique barn used to store potatoes used to make chips. This made the stay additionally special.
The home is in a picturesque setting with a working horse farm onsite. The home’s exterior is beautiful with plenty of room to walk around or lounge outside by a wonderful fire pit. There are also two ski chairs that have been converted into a place to lounge and our grandchildren loved sitting on them pretending they were skiing. As an additional bonus we saw two baby raccoons in a tree near the front porch!
Entering into the home you are greeted by an array of interior designs from around the world. There’s something special in every area to admire.
The kitchen had every item we needed plus additional items for our in home meals we prepared.
The home was immaculately clean and had all the supplies to make us feel at home.
We have stayed many places over the years and left saying this may be one of the top places we have stayed. Between the home and all the activities that were within a short drive. We hope to return, and enjoy a different season such as the autumn.
A few must sees while visiting include;
1. Pond Hill
2. Thorn Wild Nature Preserve
3. Tunnel of trees
4. Down town Harbor Springs
5. Zorn Beach
6. Downtown Boyne City
7. Downtown Charlevoix
Just to name a few…
All within a comfortable drive to return back to the home and relax.
They had cable tv but our family enjoyed the time away from the media and internet.
The owners contacted us prior to arriving and during our stay to ensure we had everything we needed.
If you are looking for something offering both unique and first class look no further…
This is the second time we stayed at the Potato House. We plan on returning again next year!

A few days of perfection!
Thank YOU for making available a perfect home for our "Christmas in June" third annual family tradition. We loved the unique and special setting in a wonderful area of Northern Michigan! It was a joy to periodically see the beautiful horses pasturing when we went outside. The home was welcoming, cozy, relaxing and spacious. And thank YOU, too for the table arrangement that greeted us. What a wonderful way to enjoy our first - and every meal - together! On behalf of three of us family members who love to cook, thank you, too, for having all those special gadgets available. No need to bring a cheese grater from home. (smile) We were warmly greeted just days before our planned stay originally, and two years later after rescheduling. Speaking of, thank YOU for providing the ability to reschedule and thank YOU for the extra cleaning measures you have put in place to keep guests healthy. To the reader who may be looking for a wonderful getaway, you will not be disappointed with the Potato House!
