Walk 2 minutes to beautiful beach boardwalk Cook breakfast in our gourmet equipped kitchen or 2 minutes to Ted’s for homemade breakfast tacos. Cookout on our grill in the backyard, soak in the hot tub, party with Pelican West at Wanna Wanna, visit our Sea Turtle Rescue Center or Wild Bird Sanctuary. I am a retired public school counselor who dreamed of living at South Padre Island. Now I am living my dream with my partner of 40 years and our Buddy-Dog. We travel the world and while we are gone, our son, manages our home for us. We love the wild national seashore, the laid-back atmosphere, the great Gulf shrimp, migratory birds, incredible sunsets and friendly people of SPI.

Why they chose this property

We got lucky. We looked at property every year when we vacationed at South Padre. This house caught our eye but wasn't available. We happened to be on the island when it went on the market and made an offer immediately. We love the Santa Fe exterior, the fully fenced yard for Buddy, the adobe fireplace, upper deck and very private back patio. We love to cook and entertain friends so the gourmet , open concept kitchen was perfect. We just open up the doors to the deck and people settle in for fireworks on the weekends, enjoy the breeze and listen to the Gulf roll in just one block away. The lower story has a large, yet intimate gathering space that teenagers and adults enjoy. One full bedroom with outdoor patio and full bath are on this floor as well. The upper story also has great gathering space, the master bedroom with full bath and guest bedroom with full bath. We can also provide high-quality inflatable beds for extra guests.

We love the beach so it is amazing to walk 3 minutes and be there every morning. And, with our trusty old Jeep, we make the trek to the Mansfield Cut on the national seashore often. Don't miss this experience. About 11 miles down, you'll see the large beach art crafted from ocean debris and litter, a great way to let kids learn about the fragility of our oceans. We are minutes away from the Sea Turtle Rescue Center, the Wild Bird Sanctuary and the Native Plant Center. Don't miss these jewels.

What makes this property unique

The island trolley passes right by our house, so you have free transportation from early in the morning until late. It stops where ever you want to go. We are a 3 minute walk from the Sapphire Public Beach Access #23. We live in a restricted neighborhood that only allows 30 day rentals. You have private parking on our property (4 car limit) as there is no parking allowed on the street. This is a huge benefit on holiday weekends.
