About this property

Juniper & Rye - The idea for the cottage came from pioneer cottages we had visited in rural Victoria.

From the Owners
Our inspiration for the cottage came from the charming pioneer-style cottages we visited throughout country Victoria. We loved their simple design – a central hallway, a welcoming front veranda – and the warm, cosy feeling they created. That sense of comfort and simplicity stayed with us, and we’ve recreated it here, blending it with modern conveniences to offer a truly unique stay.

Set in a sweet little garden and backing onto Sherbrooke Forest (just step through the back gate to explore), the cottage is perfectly positioned for discovering the nearby villages of Belgrave, Sassafras, Olinda, and Mt Dandenong.

Inside, you’ll find a restful antique iron queen bed and a welcoming lounge with a crackling fireplace and a large TV with Foxtel – ideal for cosy nights in. The kitchen is full of vintage charm, with antique kitchenware and a decorative Kookaburra Stove (a fun piece of history!). We’ve also included modern essentials: a fridge, microwave, electric frypan, kettle, toaster, and a Nespresso coffee machine for your morning brew.

A welcome pack with coffee, tea, sugar, and fresh milk is provided, and for something special, you can add a gourmet hamper to your stay (additional cost applies).

Enjoy the beautiful leadlight windows in the bedroom and bathroom, and indulge in the luxurious walk-in rain shower – it’s spacious enough for two!

We hope you love the experience as much as we’ve loved creating it.

And there's Wifi for you of course if you must! (Do note that internet and phone reception in the Dandenong Ranges can be unstable and please understand we have no control over that. If you rely on wifi please bring a backup modem).

PLEASE NOTE: The lighting of wood burning fires in properties will be prohibited from the beginning of the declared fire danger season (normally mid December) to the end of February. It is also prohibited on all days of Total Fire Ban at any time of the year. Please see www.cfa.vic.gov.au/home If there is no wood and kindling provided at your property, it will be because of this policy. The collecting and burning of twigs, leaves and branches from outside your property is strictly forbidden at anytime.

Private, escape in the mountains.

We loved it. This is the perfect year-round escape. Every detail in Juniper and Rye has been so thoughtfully put together. From the camellias and heliotrope growing outside the bathroom windows, to the fireplace and the kindling and wood thoughtfully provided.

Near the Dandenong Ranges National Park

The cute little cottage is near the Dandenong Ranges National Park. We enjoyed the bush walk beside Sherbrooke Creek to Sherbrooke Falls and hearing the birds while in the cottage. We were glad that the property manager told us that the road into the property had a steep entrance, or we may not have seen it from the main road.
