Great location to visit many of the magical nearby parks and art! Comfortable home, perfect info on things to do and quick responses from the host, and a great way to get into nature (they also have Internet and a great TV).
Very welcoming and warm property. We enjoyed ourselves having some time with our visiting out of town family, and spending an evening in Pioneertown. Beautiful grounds and scenery (especially early morning coffee on the patio). Nicely appointed. The fireplace is a great bonus! Comfortable bedding and bath. Recommended and will return!
We had a wonderful couple of days staying at Rancho Pionera. The property perfectly captures the essence of Pioneertown. Its location offers the ideal balance of privacy and accessibility, situated just minutes from the iconic Mane Street and Pappy & Harriet’s while remaining tucked away in its own grounds with hot tub and outdoor dining area. The experience of staying here is defined by a profound sense of stillness and connection to nature. Whether you are enjoying the golden hour glow from the porch or stargazing in the jacuzzi, the property provides a serene sanctuary to recharge. With its spotless amenities, thoughtful hospitality and excellent communication from the hosts, we would highly recommend a stay at Rancho Pionera and hope to return one day!
Great house in an amazing location. Short walk to Pappy and Harriet’s if seeing a show. Our group was 4 girls and it was perfect! Can sleep up to 6 though.
Wow - really loved this property. Great location. Easy walk to Pappy & Harriets and Red Dog Saloon. Easy drive to Joshua Tree for hiking. Super quiet, fantastic stargazing, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, big easy to operate TV, well decorated. I could go on and on....altogether A experience!
Everything was nice and stylish, host was responsive. Master bed was uncomfortable and master bathroom looked like it needed a deep clean (hair and dust in corners, dusty blinds, etc) but everything worked well and the space was overall clean and stylish.
The best place in Pioneertown. Close to everything but set back enough to make it feel like you’re all alone. Christina was incredible about communication and everything was as advertised or better. Will be back for sure.
Super convenient spot to not only walk down to Pappy and Harriet's for a show, but also to go exploring BLM land close by, as well as Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, and everything else the desert has to offer. Good food in every direction - La Copine was worth the wait, but make sure to put your name down at Pappy's maybe 45 minutes to an hour before you want to eat. House was perfect and the gated yard made us feel more at ease having a little dog. Would go back again!
Rancho Pionera was awesome. Christina was the perfect host, never an issue with communication. When we arrived, instructins were on point and had no issues getting into the house. It was exactly as advertised. Would definitly recommend to friends and will stay there again if given the chance.
We had a lovely 3 night stay at this Pioneer Town home. It really is walking distance to Pappy and Harriets which was a plus for us as we love live music. It was great to walk there and back under a very starry sky. The home was comfortable for hanging out and the property is private and gives you a great sense of the expansiveness of the desert. It is close to both Pioneer Preserve and Joshua Tree, both of which we enjoyed hiking in. The managers were....awesome....easy peasy. Looking forward to our next visit!
The Hacienda was lovely. The tree at the front of the property is awesome. The place was clean. The owners, friendly and super easy to deal with. Communication was good. The location is quiet yet very close to town. The water was a big attraction for us. The Cowboy pool was super fun with kids. The Jacuzzi wasn't as hot as we wanted but it was still very nice. The 3 bedrooms and 2 baths were all spacious and clean. We came from 3 days camping in Joshua Tree National Park and the house was a cool comfortable refuge. The owners clearly care about their clients experience and I'd really like to give the place a 4.5.
Xtina was definitely a great host. Very prompt and polite and helpful. The only cons were that the internet was not good at all (sadly, my wife had to work a half-day on Friday, otherwise we would not have minded at all), and there is an annoying floodlight in the back that won't turn off at night that partially pollutes some of the beautiful stars.
But other than that, it was perfect. About a ten-minute walk straight down the road to Pappy's (not 5), a huge backyard, sweet hot tub, nice outdoor space, and the house had everything you need. Super quiet too! Will definitely come back.
Due to Covid-19, our family and friends got tired of being in the city but this is the perfect place to stay with nature. This is very clean and nice house than expectation, we all loved to stay and had a lot of fun. And it is very dark to see lots of stars at night. I wanted to come back this place again to refresh.
This home is beautiful, comfortable, clean, and has a great location if you want to feel like you’re away from it all! My family really enjoyed our stay, including the new hot tub and amazing views of Joshua Trees, gorgeous rock formations, wildlife, sunsets, and stars. We loved walking to Pappy & Harriet’s to eat & drink. Our beds were comfy and the huge TV was a hit with the kids. We stayed here during COVID pandemic and it was clean and we felt very safe. We got in easily and Xtina was quick to respond when we had questions. It was a great location for visiting Joshua Tree National Park and visiting with family in Palm Springs. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
This proved to be a perfect "quiet" place for us to explore the Joshua Tree Park and celebrate a special occasion. Also enjoyed the history of Pioneertown! Thanks for opening up your property to travelers.

I am a California native, an explorer, and a dreamer. When I am not hosting or traveling, I work in art education and design. I have a love for history, discovery, and community, and the soul of the Mojave Desert has stolen my heart in the biggest way. Rancho Pionera in Pioneertown is our first renovation adventure in updating a home in both new and old ways to become a perfect retreat with space to dream and play and be inspired as we have. Let me know how we can help plan your time in the desert to discover the best of our area and getting away from it all! The best thing about having a place like this is sharing it. This is it :D
