Wonderful quiet weekend away

We had a lovely stay at Kea Cottage for an annual friends and family getaway. The space was perfect for shared food, drink and games, and safe for my toddler to run around in too. It was lovely and sunny during the day and the fire warmed us all thoroughly at night.

Great getaway

Stayed in the cottage with my family for a short holiday. House was the perfect size for our family, well appointed, and cozy. Great view of the mountains for the sunrise and excellent stargazing at night. Loved the wood stove! Would definitely stay again.

Perfect place for a weekend getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at Kea Cottage. We had four adults and two kids (3 & 5) and it was the perfect place for us - really spacious, modern and had everything we needed. Great indoor outdoor living and the kids loved playing outside. Thanks for having us!

Awesome house!

We had such a nice couple of days staying at Kea Cottage. You can walk into Methven for dinner. The cottage has everything you need and is very tidy and clean. A safe property for children.

Perfect again

Our second stay at Kea Cottage was as good as the first. A lovely open living area with a good deck and lawn give the family plenty of space to roam. The bach is warm and comfortable. Set on the outskirts of Methven it has a sense of quiet, perfect for a relaxing stay.

Great location for Canterbury Plains

The renovated Kea Cottage is a lovely, bright, airy space with excellent indoor/outdoor flow and comfortable amenities. It made a perfect anchor for our explorations of the surrounding Canterbury Area. We especially appreciated the brochure on the Hakatere Conservation Area and explored it thoroughly--fabulous views and miles of splendid isolation! Highly recommended accommodation.

One of our favourites

This our second stay at Kea. We love the cottage and the area. Tracey (the cottage manager) is friendly and prompt in responding but otherwise you are completely private. The cottage is comfortable and clean and has everything you could need. Wonderful drives to stunning scenery in the area. We’ll be back!

This is our third stay at this lovely cottage that is a great location for exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. Candy is always clear and prompt in communicating and the cottage is always spotless and comfortable. We especially like the layout with two large bedrooms with ensuites (plus an additional bunkroom for kids). Great for two couples , a family, or two singles.

Comfortable modern bach

We had a short stay at Kea Cottage, but enjoyed every minute of it. The wonderfully appointed living areas and deck made allowed all to enjoyed some relaxation after excursions. We all enjoyed comfortable nights and would welcome the chance to return again. Located on the outer area of Methven it is an easy 1 km stroll into the centre of town.

Great place close to the mountains

Brand new place with all the amenities close by. Large sun facing deck to relax after a day on the hill, good wifi if you need to work, big kitchen and living area. All in all I would highly recommend this place.

We have owned Kea Cottage since 1992, when we bought it for family weekend skiing. We used it most weekends every winter right through until our sons left home in the early 2000's. Our sons are now married and we have grandchildren, and it became obvious Kea Cottage was too small for everyone to fit. We therefore set about extending and renovating and we now have a wonderful modern holiday house which will accommodate the whole family as the grandchildren learn to ski.

Why they chose this property

Kea Cottage has space for all the family. Quiet setting on the edge of town with dramatic mountain views.
A place to relax and re-charge. Methven has a laid back rural atmosphere and is a small friendly community.
