We stayed for a week in this charming villa. The view is amazing and the gardens are beautiful! Our host very attentive and genuinely wants her guests to be happy. She went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying our stay. This home also has a generator which was very much appreciated! Would love to stay here again!
Jacqueline was a wonderful host to her beautiful place. We enjoyed the hot tub and our dinners on the covered porch, overlooking Great Cruz Bay and the islands beyond. Thanks for an awesome time!
Jacqueline was a great host who provided valuable information and was available any point in time to answer any questions! The Villa has a spectacular view in a quite area minutes away from downtown. Perfect spot for 2 people. Highly recommended!!

I would highly recommend these guest. And I found my Villa spotless clean and tidy. I am looking forward to their return.
I was on island for business. So I kept odd hours. Place was perfect for my needs. You do need a vehicle, but stunning views from top of the island mean a longer walk. Host was wonderful. Checked in to make sure all was well, but otherwise left me to myself. Would stay here again.
Lovely property, as described and in photographs. If you’ve been to St. John before you know you need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get anywhere unless you’re staying at the Westin/taking taxi’s that may not go where you want to go! The host Jaqueline meets you at the car ferry and brings you to the property on the mountainside overlooking several beautiful bays. Several other units are also available; one with a pool! Close to Cruz Bay and Centerline Road.
We had a wonderful stay! Jackie was awesome! She was very informative about what we needed to do before we got there. It was our first time on St. John and her knowledge was invaluable. Our little piece of paradise was amazing! The views were incredible and we cannot wait to visit again! There is so much to hike and see that you cannot get it all done in one week.

Thank you for your precious words. We came to this island in 1982. Fell in love with this island. The people, new friends, struggles, hurricanes, beaches, chaos, all mixed into the soup of life. And when my guest shares in that Joy, it makes my heart sing. The doors to my home are open to you. Happy sailing, Owner Jacqueline
Jacqueline was a friendly host and super responsive. Great view of the bay and chocolate hole! The hot tub was a nice extra we appreciated and there were some condiments, spices etc. already there so that helped us save on the grocery bill. The little AC unit and the fans helped make things more comfortable but be prepared for the St. John heat!
First we’d like to thank Jacqueline for being adaptable. Our flight was cancelled and we had to delay our trip two days through no fault of ours. Lovely villa for 2. Extremely easy to get to, super accessible. Just up the hill from Cruz Bay restaurants, shopping, groceries and nightlife. 10 minutes tops to our personal favorite Hawksnest Bay and just a bit farther to all breathtaking, pristine North Shore Beaches. The hot tub was amazing and there were great breezes on the patio! Bed was very comfortable and I found the kitchen to be nicely equipped! Thank you so much Jacqueline!

Nice stay, but some upgrades needed
Conveniently located and with a nice view of Great Cruz Bay. The owner is very nice but we think the accommodations could be upgraded for the price charged. For one the beach amenities could use upgrading (small towels, folding chairs - not beach chairs - provided, and a very small lunchbox cooler). We ended up renting beach chairs and bought a cheap cooler. Also, if you plan on cooking you might want to bring some basics like spices, etc. the kitchen had very little provided. Of course be careful to keep food in the fridge as we did notice some small ants around the sink and counter at times. Last, we did not use the hot tub, the area was not appealing for our tastes. It's located outside the owner's place and in an old workshop area.

Hilltop garden
The Property is dated and in need of updating! Although clean, it seemed a little dusty, with low lighting. We had to leave the Property after one night's stay, because it raind and NO taxi would bring us home to it, said it was too dangerous when wet, but we had to get home. We finally found a taxi and it was disastrous, the truck slide hallway back down the hill, twice with us in it, it was scary and quite dangerous as they all stated. We had to walk the rest of the way ip a slippery, .steep hill with flip-flops on, not a good time at all. We had to make a choice to get a room at the Westin to continu our stay! The host stated, she would have come get us, after the fact. The host also overstayed her welcome at checkin, she gave us a tour and all the necessary info and still continued to talk and stay for about 45 min more, we were tired and wanted to unwind. Very nice and welcoming host just a bit too needy for company it felt like! Spectacular views, ,hot.in villa, in need of better air conditioning! Lamp shades old and dirty. Overall could have been a nice stay, if it wasn't so difficult to get to in the rain! No drivers wanted to touch us to take us there!!

I’m sorry you had an unusual experience with our local taxi drivers handling an alternative road, especially at 1:00am on slippery rainy roads.
You mentioned “What a beautiful view, very pleased with our Villa", when you were departing.
You vacated the property based on an experience with a taxi driver, not based on your experience with our villa. If you would have called me I would have helped and directed you to the main road. I live on site and I am here for my guests 24/7.
Since you left on your own accord, not related to any issue with our villa, we did not issue a refund, as you requested as an ‘isolated case’.
I’m sorry you felt the need to speak negatively of me and our property since you were not given you a refund.

Review of visit 2/2022
This is a good VRBO with a nice host who is kind and helpful. The villa was designed by her husband, an architect. The design is lovely. The view of the ocean from the bed is nice.
I agree with others that the accommodations could be upgraded for the price charged. Inside the house, there is no longer a bedside lamp as depicted in the photo. There are some nice utensils - coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender. There were not a lot of drinking cups – coffee cups and two plastic wine chalices. The pots / pans are scratched, older and worn.
Beach chairs are okay... really folding chairs / not comfortable; cooler is small; beach towels are polyester; bath towels are just okay. Hot tub is in a workshop/ storage area, as previously mentioned; it is not very picturesque. The nice plants in the photo of the hot tub on the website are no longer there. In the hot tub, multiple plastic rings that surround the jets were not attached correctly / sitting at the bottom of the tub the first time we used it, light didn’t work. The cover to the hot tub had black spots on inner surface. The owner told us it is a Walmart hot tub so treat it as such ... it may take a while to heat up or turn off.
The photos of the “views” listed online are not quite representative of the current conditions. The first photo is from the owner’s house so that is not a view that you see from the VRBO. There is a lot of vegetation that has grown from the deck view and hot tub view – so those views (while still nice) are partially obstructed.
We were asked to strip the bed but not the mattress pad/comforter/pillow shams (unclear if these are washed in between guests). Between the base on the bed and the mattress was a lot of hair/lint like material (noticed on the first day of the visit). Other things were not perfectly clean on arrival including in the drawers of the chest in the bedroom. There was dirt/wood shavings in 2 drawers.
We were also asked to wash and put away all the dishes before we left. Obviously, we had been doing it throughout the trip … but I have never been in another private accommodation where this was specifically asked / thought it was odd that I was being asked to clean up the VRBO prior to leaving while still paying a substantial cleaning fee.
Overall, this is less expensive and nicer than other accommodations on the island with a very welcoming host. You will likely enjoy your stay but the photos were not fully representative.
It was a great stay. Super busy time of year - great for active couples. Superb view. Rental car recommended - but I think that goes for STJ in general. Up Centerline Road and just a few turns off of it. Saves you from having to drive through town every time you go anywhere. Quick dip down to Dolphin Market if you need to grab anything like water, etc. One day we walked from there all the way to salt pond via the L'esperance Trail, Lameshur Bay and then all the way to Ram's Head. "Seagal" met us off the car ferry even though we were delayed - that type of STJ hospitality is basically priceless. Didn't need AC as we stayed in March and it's perched on a hill overlooking Great Cruz Bay. Singles could rent a scooter, but we got a car on STT and used the car ferry. Grill worked great - we got steaks and stuff at Moes while waiting for the car ferry in Red Hook. Mixed it up by staying in every other night and just doing a grill and chill. All in all a great stay, would do it again in a heartbeat. The hot tub was a nice plus a great respite at the end of hiking everyday. We had neighbors upstairs - you can hear walking around but it seems the vibe of the place gets likeminded people who want to relax just as much as you do. At the end of the day - you will have quibbles about anywhere you stay unless you rent a giant, expensive villa. Helpful hint - don't let this one slip through your fingers and try to shop for perfection. Book this if you can because it's just right.

What a delight when this couple was using the barbecue the smells of their cooking was fantastic. And after all the cooking they left this villa spotlessly clean and tidy.
Amazingly clean. So very much appreciated.
Absolutely perfect guests. I would be so happy to have them return.

Beautiful views in a beautiful home
Jacqueline was an amazing hostess. She met us near her home and gave us the grand tour of her beautiful home. There is an amazing pool that over looks the valley and out towards St.Croix, a hot tub down stairs that boasts the same view. The linens and towels were clean and the bed was very comfortable. She has a smart TV in the room and we were able to watch TV when we weren’t out exploring. There was a refrigerator, shower, sink, iron and ironing board, and bug spray and sun screen available. We will absolutely be back for the beautiful views, nice breeze and great hostess.

Living in the Caribbean offers many delights. I was on the ferry traveling across Pillsbury Sound from St. John to St. Thomas for my dentist appointment and I saw a whale! I love living here, the ocean offers so many treasures. Frequently I ride the ferry and enjoy the soothing rocking of the boat across the Sound. It offers me time to relax, listen to music, and plan more dreams and goals.
Please come and ride the waves over to our island home, Take in a deep breath of the fresh sea air and dream.
I fell in love with St John, the gem of the islands. For many years, our summer home was on Madeline Island in Wisconsin on Lake Superior. St. John became the perfect island winter home for us. We filled our days with beach-combing, snorkeling, hiking the National Park trails and learning the island history. Building our home here was a big adventure. I have completed the dream and I want to share it with you.
This island has been my home for 28 years and I have had the honor to host guests for many of these years. I love hearing their stories and share mine.
Why they chose this property
The beautiful view and trade winds above Great Cruz Bay took our heart away at first site. What a Caribbean island!
Come be my guest and tell me your story. Why did you come to St John? I live on site and will be here to answer any questions or at the end of your day, a solute and toast on the veranda to a beautiful sunset over the twinkling lights of the islands. Cheers!
What makes this property unique
I live on the property so that I can further ensure a relaxing and wonderful vacation experience for you.
What is nice about our home is the great uplifting feelings of dreams coming true, the soft breeze of the trade winds, cool nights on your sun-kissed skin and stargazing from the veranda. The peaceful surroundings, the sounds of nature, and the spectacular ocean views will take your breath away!
Close to the town of Cruz Bay and a short drive to the most beautiful beaches in the world. Grocery stores, restaurants and take-out food are available only a few minutes away. The Westin Resort welcomes outside guests and offers dinning on the beach, gift stores, tennis, spa, gym and water aerobics. Spend a day of resort living and come home to your private Villa. We look forward to hosting you on St. John, the Gem of the Caribbean!
This Villa is for two adults only, not appropriate for children. This is a non-smoking facility.
