Beautiful lakeside cabin at the end of a quiet road on Pickerel Lake. We took advantage of the location and paddled on the water one morning...very peaceful lake. Drive to Petoskey is a quick 25 minutes. Hosts very good at communicating and were accommodating to our needs during our stay. Would love to stay again with more time to fish and relax!
This property was exactly what we wanted, beautiful clear water, shallow water with sandy bottom for kids to play in, dock which was nice for fishing and parking boat, fire pit, Michigan cottage feel. We did a lot of fishing from the boat we rented and caught pike, crappie, perch, sunfish…our kids counted 42 total fish! Owners were very good at communicating if we had any questions.
This was our third time staying at this property and we plan on returning! This small and quaint cabin is perfect for my family of 4. Last cabin on a dead end road, with forest to one side, provides quiet and secluded environment. Lake is great, sandy bottom, and you can walk a super long way out before it gets deep. Which is great for the kids and dog to play in. Great communication by the host, always quick to return any messages or questions. Great place to stay and close enough to explore anywhere around Petoskey or even a day trip up to Mackinaw!
It is very small and old. Lakeview is nice but not private. Neighbor is right next door and they had parties 2 of the 3 nights we were there. Not super wild but loud talking and music. Kitchen very well stocked but no bathroom soap or shampoo so come prepared. My husband is 6’5” so the beds were challenging. For me maybe a better winter retreat. Sort of expensive for what we got.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the lake view and found the kitchen well stocked.
We do want to note that our listing includes detailed photos, property information, and bed sizes so guests can determine whether the accommodations will be a good fit for their needs prior to booking. Bathroom amenities are also listed in the “What’s Included” section of the listing.
We understand that neighboring activity can occasionally affect the experience, especially during holiday and summer weekends, although this is unfortunately outside of our control.
We appreciate your comments and thank you again for staying with us.
House was beautiful and very peaceful/quiet... still close enough to get to all the activities we wanted to do. Perfect set up for us and our pup. Vickie and Scott were great hosts - communicative and extreamly accomidating.
This is a great little cabin, and the location can't be beat!

Tom-
Thank you for your review. We do enjoy our little spot of heaven on the lake and we're happy to have shared it with you. We do hope you'll stay with us again.
Daniel- thank you for taking the time to review the cottage. I don't think we could ask for a better review than "we had a blast!" So glad you enjoyed yourselves and we hope you'll be back again soon.
The whole family enjoyed this gem right on the lake. The shallow area was perfect for the small children and the adults enjoyed the kayaks and canoe. The cottage had everything we needed
Loved the privacy and having our own "beach" in the backyard. We enjoyed the kayaks and fire pit, and fishing off the long dock. The cabin was homey and had all the amenities we needed, despite being a bit dated. The hosts were responsive and kind.
We had a great time up north. We enjoyed the privacy of this cabin. View was beautiful and we loved that there kayaks to use. Will definitely consider staying here again!

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. We agree with your assessment of the lake. It is so nice to just sit and look out over that lake, no matter what time of day. We're glad you enjoyed it too, and we hope to see you again soon.
I am baffled by the reviews describing this cabin as clean because that was not remotely our experience. The night we arrived, we found mouse droppings in the kitchen cabinets and immediately sent the owners photographs. Someone cleaned the cabinets the next day, but we then found more droppings on the floor and saw a live mouse. When we contacted the owners again, we received no response and ultimately cut our vacation short and left early. The cabin smelled like urine, and rodent traps or poison were already in the cabinets, suggesting that mice were not an entirely unexpected problem. We also found loose outlets, surface-mounted wiring without conduit, and uncapped wires inside a kitchen cabinet. This might be expected in a barn or outbuilding, but not in a vacation home where families bring small children. The owners dismissed our concerns by saying the cabin was old.The property also felt poorly maintained. The deck was splintered and boards were uneven, the cabin floors were dramatically uneven, and the owners had the beds raised several inches at one end to compensate for the slope. My son and I also developed an extremely itchy rash consistent with swimmer’s itch after using the lake, which locals later told us was a known problem. This vacation was stressful, uncomfortable, and thoroughly disappointing. Rustic is one thing; rodents, concerning electrical conditions, and neglected maintenance are another. I would never stay here again or recommend it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are disappointed to read this review because it does not reflect the circumstances of your stay or the efforts we made to address your concerns.
When you first contacted us regarding alleged mouse droppings and an odor, we responded promptly and had our cleaning staff at the cottage within 24 hours. They thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and sanitized the property again. Importantly, they found no evidence of the droppings, rodent infestation, or urine odor described. We nevertheless took your concerns seriously and went beyond simply asking you to accept our findings by having the entire area cleaned and sanitized again.
When you contacted us a second time, the request was for a refund. At that point, our staff had already inspected the property, and we had no evidence to substantiate the conditions being reported. Because our staff could not substantiate the conditions being reported, we were unable to agree to the requested refund, and you subsequently chose to end your stay early. You ultimately chose to leave after four of your seven scheduled nights.
We also want to specifically address the electrical concerns raised in this review. The characterization of the cottage as having unsafe electrical conditions is simply not accurate. We take the safety and maintenance of our property very seriously and would never knowingly provide a vacation home with hazardous electrical conditions.
Our cottage is a vintage lake home that has been in our family for more than 55 years. It is intentionally a rustic lake cottage, but it is professionally cleaned and carefully maintained between every guest. In nine years of hosting, this is our only one-star review, and the overwhelming majority of our guests have described their stays very differently.
We are genuinely sorry that the cottage did not meet your expectations. However, we stand behind the actions we took during your stay and the care we put into maintaining our property and responding to our guests.
Beautiful secluded property that is quiet and peaceful. Cool cabin that suits the area perfectly. Very nice kitchen and accommodations. Thank you for a wonderful relaxing week.
This is a quintessential up north cabin. Loved the homey feel, the patio overlooking the lake, and the privacy of the property. Direct access to the water and having kayaks available was a great touch. It’s also close by many other areas to explore.
