Authentic, private and peaceful stay - beautiful village location - helpful owner.
Casa Clara is lovely and is an authentic Andalusian cottage. A very private and quiet location on the hillside just above a lovely village that has everything you need. A lovely walk down through the small white winding streets into Torrox is a must. The villa has everything for your stay and has a great team running it if you need them. The pool was a hit with our little boys and the huge outdoor space was a hit with us enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. We had a lovely holiday here and will keep it in mind to return again in the future.

So glad you enjoyed your stay!
Thanks for taking the time to review casa clara and youâd always be welcome back
We totally loved to stay at casa clara with our 2 kids for one week in August. Especially the pool and terrace were perfect for refreshing and relaxing during the summer heat. We also loved to pick the grapes from the garden which were really tasty. Clare and her whole âteamâ are doing a fantastic job. You can contact all of them around the clock and they respond fast. Once we locked ourself out of the casa in the evening but we contacted Clare and she reached out immediately to Ron the gardener to rescue us. :) not only the casa but also the whole little village of Torrox is worth a visit. There are lot of good little restaurants, bakeries and everything you need. Also the beaches around Torrox Costa are just a 15min car ride left.
All in all we had a great time here and enjoyed every moment.
We really enjoyed our stay
We found this beautiful place to be exactly as advertised. It was in the mountains, was rustic, welcoming and absolutely beautiful. The Casa Clara has everything you need to enjoy for a relaxing hideaway in the mountains. The pool was lovely and there was always a sunny spot, and for those who needed shade just sat under the Wisteria looking at the view. We loved meeting the gardener who showed us around - we found apricots, oranges and almonds. We even made lemonade out of the lemons. The village of Torrox is a beautiful Spanish village serving reasonably priced food. The village may look far away from the house, as itâs in the mountain, but it is really not that far a walk. In fact it is lovely to walk through the village streets. And if you donât want to walk the hill back after get a taxi like we did. We fell in love with the cats who were no trouble at all. One in particular, ginger, would often come to say hello in the morning and enjoyed just being around us. The welcome pack was a great touch and we appreciated it. Clare has been amazing to communicate with and she sorted a minor issue immediately. A beautiful place and we will certainly be back.

We stayed in Casa Clara during February half term. We had 3 really scorching days and 4 cloudy days.... all 18-24âc, it was the perfect weather for both the beach and exploring the region.
The Villa is exactly as described. It is simple, not fancy but had everything you need for a cosy and relaxing stay. The nights were cool so we used the wood burner and turned on the heater in the spare room.
The kitchen was fully stocked with every utensil you could need!
The outside area is beautiful. The views, the patio and the pool were all wonderful. We sat out watching the lights of Torrox come on as the sun set, drinking a glass of wine with a blanket to snuggle into.
The access road to the house is well tarmaced but very steep, we had a 1.4 engine rental car, Iâm glad we didnât have a tiny 1l.
We walked down into the town for dinner some evenings, the walk is lovely. Just the final road to the house that is the calf killer!
We visited Granada, The Torcal Atequilar and the caves in Nerja.
Nerja beach was our favourite.
Clare the owner communicated so well I felt completely prepared for our visit, access was easy and the wine, milk and coffee was very much appreciated.
We would happily return! We miss it already.

Good for couples
We have just returned from this villa today, now let me just get the bad bit out the way first as there is only one, it was advertised with air con but upon arrival it was apparent this wasnât the case, and the air con was in fact windows and fans, now had it of been just my husband and myself no problem, but I booked this because we are traveling with a young family, the youngest 10 months. When the nights are as hot as they are fans just donât cut it, so that for us was a massive disappointment, none of us slept well for the whole week. So I do think the description needs to be more accurate, it this would be the website not allowing the ow er to put fans only.
However.... the location was beautiful, being tucked out of the way is just what we wanted! The house itself is very rural and has a lovely feel to it, I do feel it could do with a freshen up but that is just my taste. Functionality it was fine, the fridge was a perfect size for the 5 of us and the oven worked just fine. The terrace was amazing! For us it was great as we hired a walker locally and our 10 month old loved razzing around on the terrace in the mornings and evening. My husband and I would sit in the terrace once this kids were in bed and watch the moon come up. The only word of advice is bug spray! We have both come back reassembling a mosquito feast! So I would say take some repellent with you. The kids loved the pool and they were in it from the moment the last bit of breakfast hit their lips until we dragged them out for dinner!
We didnât go into Torrox as we prefer heading to Nerja which is a 10 mins drive away. But to be honest the location is that lovely we didnât feel we needed to go anywhere.
For the directions you need to use the coordinates provided as they get you right there.
All in all a lovely holiday, just a shame about the air con, this is the o my thing that would stop us from booking here again.
Very traditional Spanish villa. We had enjoyable stay. Clare was very helpful in sorting our gas quickly. Walk to the village was pleasant but very steep on the returnđ€ŁWe did find disposing of rubbish a little difficult as there are no bins close to the property, unless we didn't find them. Definitely would recommend a car.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Clara with our two children aged 6 & 9. The pool is fantastic and the views stunning! In our opinion a car is essential.
We spent 10 wonderful days in clara's home. The house is great, great view, great swimmining-pool. We really felt like at home. Clare was avalailable all the time if needed, she gave us great tips for local bars and beaches.

Perfect retreat for a peaceful break
Would highly recommend this lovely house with fantastic terrace that has a great view over the valley. Perfect spot only a few minutes walk into Torrox. Ideal place to explore the local area. We enjoyed the rustic charm and as we went in February used the wood burner as it can get quite chilly. We were lucky that during the day the weather was blue skies and warm enough for a bit of sun bathing. Torrox has a nice feel to it and a little less touristy but a few minutes drive to the beach.

Beautiful authentic Spanish villa â€ïž
We absolutely loved Clareâs villa. It has everything you need. A total home from home. Gorgeous and massive terrace for sunbathing and dining on. Round the corner a beautiful, especially at night pool area. We loved strolling down to the village for dinner and drinks. Very good prices, we came home with holiday money !! The villa is amazing with stunning views and comfort. We really didnât want too come home and would happily revisit. Thank you Clare. If you ever want too sell please let us know !! Good outside, Shabby inside plus wild cats.
Beware of the cats! This property comes with resident cats which are being fed and watered by the owner/house-keeper and you will be expected to feed them too! So if you dont like cats don't book it! After booking and paying we were informed by email about the cats which is a bit late really. It was impied that there was one stray cat lurking but actually there were several and there were pictures of them as kittens on the mantlepiece!
The outside gardens, terraces and pool are very pleasant. However the inside is very tired, old and shabby. The lounge furniture is a collection of old junk all covered with various throws and covers and there's not anywhere to sit comfortably. The kitchen is very basic but everything works and there are plenty of pot, pans and cooking implements.
Beds are OK but again the dressers and furniture are all old junk and most of the mirrors have de-silvered and blackened.
Overall we felt it was over-priced compared with other villas we have rented in the region. Not very clean either. There was dust on surfaces and cobwebs on the shelves in lounge. Bath emamel is chipped in several places.
This is more like an owners home share house than a luxury rental villa.

In response: wild cats roam freely in the countryside and some guests love them and are happy to feed them, which of course encourages them to hang around. We would never ask or expect anyone to feed them and there are hoses to chase them away. Going forward, we will always advise potential guests about this before payment.
This property is not marketed or priced as a âluxury villaâ. It is presented as a comfortable, family home that we love, and do appreciate that it may not be to everyoneâs taste â it is not IKEA. It doesnât match and the photos of the interior featured here show it exactly as it is. We love the uniqueness and donât find it uncomfortable and no other reviews or feedback have complained about this. One manâs shabby is another womanâs chic. The white marble-topped dressers and bedside tables are coveted by many guests and the foxed ( antiqued ) mirrors are seriously âon trendâ at the moment. Maybe this hasnât reached Watford yet.
We review the cleaning brief regularly and appreciate the odd cobweb and microscopic chipped enamel may occasionally escape us. We would hope future guests may overlook this when the sun is shining on the glistening swimming pool, itâs 30 degrees and the birds are singing beautifully. Obviously, we offer a full refund if guests are unhappy and unable to stay , as there are many other rental homes and hotels the area.
These guests declined this offer.
we appreciate guests giving constructive feedback and will try our hardest to address any issues brought to our attention.

A beautiful villa with amazing outdoor space.
We stayed in Casa Clara at the end of July. It was perfect! The house has everything you need. It is so comfortable and tastefully decorated. The terrace was gorgeous, really big with great seating. It was ideal for watching the sun set every evening with a glass of wine. The pool was really well used by us all. The children particularly liked it and it was great for cooling off after a day in the sun. The owner Clare was really helpful too. We definitely plan to return next year.
We were met by Sandra as agreed in Torrox and then we drove approximately 5 mins to Casa Clara. The large terrace and lovely pool were certainly an added bonus to the very nice and well equipped villa. Each night we went down to the town and eat at various restaurants all were excellent. Our week went much too quickly but we came home well relaxed.

A lovely and relaxing stay!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Casa Clara. It's a lovely house, and the pool made it very special. Very rural and rustic feel to it. A reasonable walk in to the town of Torrox, and then a short drive to stunning beaches (Maro being one of them).

The perfect house for a relaxing holiday.
The setting on a hillside above Torrox allows for lovely views across the valley, down to the distant sea and up to the mountains.
The pool and wide terraces are perfect for relaxing in the sunshine for a whole day or as a welcome home after enjoying the nearby beaches and sightseeing.
We visited beaches atTorrox Costa, Nerja and Maro which were all different and worth a trip. The villages of Frigiliana and Competa are lovely to wander round. Torrox is a short walk down the hill and worth spending some time exploring the narrow passageways and town centre.
The house is clean and comfortable and the four of us had plenty of space to relax. We were met by Sandra who was helpful and efficient.
We would love to return!

Beautiful, relaxing, everything you need!
Had a fantastic 10 days here in July. The house is very lovely with a relaxed feel but contains all you would need for a perfect holiday. The situation is beautifully private and quiet but not isolated. Beaches and shops close. The pool a godsend in the heat of summer. The flowers and pot plants and attention to detail made our stay all the more lovely with BBQ and alfresco eating and wine on the amazing terrace well into the night. We really didn't want to come back and considered claiming squatter's rights! (Only kidding) highly recommend- great communication and assistance from owner and her representative in Torrox, divine area, beautiful house and garden and Paco the gardener very friendly and sweet. Would love to revisit this lovely place

About the host
Hosted by Clare Muller
We live in London and the opportunity to get away and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air is so wonderful. I still think the best thing I ever did was buy this house. It gives me and my family enormous pleasure and I feel so energized and refreshed after a few days spent sitting on the terrace with a drink listening to the bird song...
Why they chose this property
I love the mountains for a walk/drive in the morning and walking to the square in Torrox village for a tasty tapas lunch in bar paco , home for a siesta and some pool action , then getting to the beach for sunset and a swim followed by a glass of tinto and some delicious fried fish in the local "chiringuito" beach bar! Only 40 mins from Malaga airport so I can have breakfast on the plane and lunch on my terrace...bliss
What makes this property unique
What I love about this house is it is so easy...no dirt tracks to deal with, private parking space and a short walk into the village. Still feels private and secluded without being remote. Picking fruit off the trees for breakfast...cooling swim after walking up hill from village ... Car boot sale on Sunday morning ... Exercising on terrace ...fish and chips and salad for 5âŹ....Rioja , Albariño and cava for under 3⏠A bottle....strolling on the BALCON de nerja with an ice cream....
