Also short stays are possible between longer bookings (please ask) for July and August or outside those months but otherwise a week is the minimum booking ...
A former vigneron our house has all the character and quirky features of a truly French property - it feels like the real rural France it is well located in the centre of the village of Roujan whilst being away from any traffic - 2 mins walk to everything.
Roujan is a popular traditional village with all amenities a few hundred metres away (bar, restaurants, bakers, deli within walking distance and a large supermarket just beyond the exit to the village). There are a number of vineyards close by for wine tasting and other small villages that have fetes in the summer. It is very close to the historic town of Pezenas (home of moliere, antiques/ bric a brac, restaurants, lively saturday market selling produce as well as other things). The layout of the house means it has significant space and ideal for friends or two families staying together.
3rd floor - 1 bedroom with optional en suite bathroom, 2 bedrooms with possible en suite or separate bathroom (you can shut the doors off accordingly).
2nd floor - large kitchen - dining table for 8 people, living room - access onto large south facing terrace for dining and relaxing/taking the sun. It also has an area that is shaded by a large vine with a table for relaxed dining.
1st floor large area for games and relaxing, mezzanine with two single beds (a den for kids) and a further double bedroom, shower room, toilet and another separate toilet. There is also a plunge/small swimming pool for cooling off in the summer heat set in the garden.
There is a public tennis court next door to the house so bring some rackets (we have one or two but can't guarantee throughout the season).

Excellent communication with owners from the start. Beautiful traditional property that comfortably catered for 8 adults holidaying together. Central location for visiting places.
A large, very clean property with good bedding, towels and bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen. Roujan is quiet but near to some lively small cities for meals out, as well as the beach, a 30 min drive. The Super U 1 km away makes food shopping easy. Only negative was the fact that all the bedrooms aren't air conditioned in the summer heat, but 2 are as well as the sitting room, which is spacious and was lovely to escape to alongside using the pool..

Many thanks for your review - it was very hot the week you stayed but hope you had a great week
I just wanted to give some context regarding the aircon ie this has been the hottest summer in france since 2003….. with no let up from consistent high temperatures in the 40’s.
Also the house is a historic vigneron with very thick walls and window shutters designed to keep things cool in summer so in past years aircon hasn’t been mentioned by guests …. obviously I’m keen to take on board feedback … and also take action whenever that’s feasible during the stay ….
As other guests have mentioned generally I’m always available on WhatsApp for any problems or just on hand for information / recommendations or anything that helps our guests enjoy their holiday according to their particular interests …. to enhance their stay where I can- let them know about local events or amenities they can participate in …
As you say there is aircon in the main living area and two of the upstairs bedrooms.
Two bedroom are downstairs where there are very thick walls as this used to be part of the original wine storage area and this would also have been problematic for storing wine had temperatures been high … or varied greatly …
I do provide fans in the other rooms in case they are needed … and not had feedback to the contrary so far that these haven’t been sufficient …
I guess this is perspective as possibly more modern homes might be more slickly temperature proofed but part of ambience we try to maintain and enhance is about the character of a historic and typically French property …
I did return to the house to check on everything (20 aug) and at that point the outside temperature was 33 degrees and I didn’t need to switch on the aircon … but If it is that hot again consistently I’ll look to provide upgraded fans or units ..
This property is understated and the photos do not capture the charm and personality of the house. E spent lovely evenings under the vine having aBBQ or just or drinks before dining out. The pool was great for cooling off in the 35-39 degree temperatures we had during our stay in July. Town was a very short walk away, and whilst somewhat limited in the choice of restaurants and bars, the Grand Cafe with its live music on some nights and the Petit Pêche with its fantastic food were great.
We were also lucky enough to be there on Bastille Day so we got to see the torch parade and the fantastic firework display to mark the occasion.
We highly recommend this property and Lisa has thought of everything for the comfort of her guests.

Thanks Gary for your kind review - it was a genuine pleasure to have you as guests.
We aim to provide most of the things you’d have in your home and look at everything again each season to maintain the level of comfort.
A welcoming ambience we feel is important as well as enhancing the charm of a quirky French vignerons house so hopefully we achieve that and it’s a memorable and relaxing stay.
Roujan is very much a current French wine villlage with a couple of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. I’m always keen to recommend activities or local events and fetes in the neighbouring villages/towns as there are quite a few taking place in the summer months. I can also make recommendations depending on ages and different interests or suggestions for a special occasion if you’d like to plan ahead …
Roujan is close to the historic town of Pezenas for its market and array of restaurants and artisanal shops to dip into a different experience of French life .
The beaches and beach clubs are also within striking distance … Coastal towns with seafood restaurants - fresh oysters.
After days out hopefully it’s also great to return to relax with a glass of local wine and equally spend time recharging on more restful days …
We were delighted with the house and had a wonderful family vacation, despite the heat wave. Ranging in ages from 12 to 87, everyone found things that interested them both in the house and the area. From cooling off in the pool after a game of ping pong or tennis to exploring caves, kayaking through the Point du Diable and visiting “Cathar castles and churches” we all were very satisfied.Lisa was a very gracious and generous hostess, sharing many valuable suggestions, and responding promptly to the small mishaps that come with living in an ancient, though very comfortable house. The appliances are all modern and the rooms comfortable, but the vibe is definitely not modern, as you would hope. We will miss the evenings lounging under the grape arbor, sipping local wine till it was finally dark, after 10 pm, and listening to music at the local bistro, among many other delights.
La casa es muy bonita. Lisa, la propietaria, es muy amable y atenta. Siempre está disponible y responde rápido ante cualquier duda que pueda surgir y, además, hace muchas propuestas de visitas por la zona.
The house did not disappoint, the photos of the property were very nice and I had been worried that the photos were too good! But the truth of the matter is that the house is warm and inviting, it is tastefully decorated and well appointed with all the amenities we needed, the courtyard garden is inviting and the pool a lovely spot to play with children safely and to cool down if the weather is hot.
The upper rooms of the house are light and airy and the air-conditioning very effective on warm nights. The first floor which is bisected by a high tiled hallway is comprised of the living room / study which is again air-conditioned. On the other side of the hall is the large kitchen and breakfast room. All though we spent a lot of time in the kitchen, most of our time was spent on the patio terrace, where we sunbathed, ate and spent the warm evenings. We only spent one evening in the living room, when an awesome storm crashed through the town, but it was a nice place to play games.
The downstairs bedrooms are cooler, but pleasantly so and the large open space was a perfect place to do yoga and exercise in the mornings. A table tennis table was also great fun.
The village has it all, good food and great entertainment at the Grand Cafe in the main street, fantastic pizza at Pitchou Pizza - run by the hardest working and friendliest owner. The village bar further down the street might be little 'spit and sawdust' for some but little bars like that are a reminder of the close French community. The boulangerie patisserie on the way into town opposite the Super U market called 'Le Fournil de Benjamin' produces divine pastries, breads and cakes, it's well worth jumping on a bike and heading down to it for breakfast supplies.
A wonderful holiday and a beautiful location, which I hope to return to again.

Many thanks for your lovely review - we try and make sure we equip the house really well so our guests have all the things they would expect from home - we try to make it a "home from home" with character, ambience and comfort so it doesn't feel like a bland holiday rental - hopefully that comes across in the information and the care we take.
I also personally aim to give as much assistance as i can to tailor stays and maximise valuable holiday time according to guest interests - so encourage a conversation or two.
On the point you mentioned I am sorry if the neighbours disturbed you as I was not aware of this at the time and of course if I had known I would have tried to make sure it wasn't repeated.
its a shame as i am unable to rectify it in retrospect:.
being a proactive home owner I am keen to find solutions to any unexpected problems and also determined that any glitches remain slight and resolved....

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Hickson Flint
Hi - we are Steve and Lisa Flint - we live in the UK but have owned our second home in France for 20+ years. We are still finding new interesting things to do in the area...
We have always been interested in France, we both studied french but never really used our language skills apart from holidays so owning a property was a good way of challenging ourselves to do more than that and immersing ourselves in the culture.
We both have a keen interest in food and wine and this area of France is perfect for that because it has a rural feel and of course the house is in a great village, near vineyards, beach and within distance of lots of historic and interesting towns.
Why they chose this property
It's characterful property with quirky charm, having been an old vigneron and has distinctive features including original tiles, a pigeonnier and a large terrace in full sun as well as a dining area shaded by a large vine. The inside is spacious with two lounge areas, a games area and is heated by wood burners for off season stays. It has the feel of a traditional house but with some modern design twists and we like to think you can come in and feel immediately relaxed and at home.
What makes this property unique
The house is in the heart of the popular village so moments away from shops, bars and local restaurants. It is close to historical Pezanas famed as an antiques centre (twice yearly fairs) and the home of Moliere. There is a Saturday produce market and lots of shops and restaurants. Roujan is within easy reach of the beaches, the Canal du Miidi, lots of vineyards for wine tasting and local wine villages which throughout the summer hold fetes. I can give lots of information/brochures on things to do -as well as let you have updated information as we have it - if you have particular interests then we enjoy tailoring your stay.
