About this property

Stazzo Chivoni, A XIX Century Country House - A Paradise away from it All!

Surrounded by 2 hectares of ground, the place offers quiet and silence and has a very nice view of the surrounding hills and the village of Luogosanto (5 km away).
Thanks to its thick granite walls the house is fresh even in the heat of summer. All rooms are simply furnished but comfortable and tastefully decorated. Sheltered by main winds, the place benefits from an ideal weather all year round with warm summers and mild winters. The hinterland is rich of dense cork woods, ilex groves and millenary wild olive trees you can explore by car, bike or simply walking around. The Luogosanto region is peppered with country churches, stazzi and archaeological sites. 15 km only from the sea: you may choose between large, unspoilt beaches of the western coast, others where you can try wind/kite sufing, diving and sailing or the beaches of Costa Smeralda on the east coast.

Nature & Tranquility
We spent 14 days as a family on the property. The house is situated on a quiet hill next to Luogosanto. There are not many houses around, but lots of nature. The house is sourrounded by a large property with natural rocks where you have a phenomenal view at sundown over the valley. Lots of animals around. Booking & Communication with Marzia who speaks very good english was easy. You've got everything you need in the house for a basic good time. No dishwasher, but cloth washing machine. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a small double bed, one with a larger double bed and a single bed. The beds could be more comfortable but are ok. Enough towels were provided. The bathroom has has a shower, a bidet and a toilet of course, water is warm. The kitchen is well equipped, the oven runs with gas. Some ants run around but did not bother us much. it is a 10 min drive to Luogosanto, a 30 min drive to Santa Theresa, a 50 min drive to Olbia. Quiet rocky beaches can be reached in 30-40 min (Portobello, Santa Reparata, Palau) We can recommend the pizzereria in the next village (Jama 7,5 in Bassacutena).

Beautiful stone cottage in peaceful location and stunning countryside with fantastic nearby beaches
We are a family of four, with two young children. The cottage was perfect for us. It was very cool during the day. Our children enjoyed climbing on the rocks and exploring the vast grounds. In fact, our children staged a sit in and refused to leave, they loved it so much. We really enjoyed family meals outside under the shade, and the space and peace of the large gardens. Marzia was extremely helpful and informative. She had lots of useful suggestions for us, and we loved the nearby beaches she recommended. We also all appreciated the local produce she generously gave to us, including figs, almonds and eggs. The cottage is in a perfect location, and was an ideal base to explore the area. Though we did find it hard to drag ourselves out as the cottage is such a perfect place to be. Thank you very much for such a perfect stay. We would love to return, and will recommend you to everyone!

A pleasant stay
The property was clean and spacious. It had a very pleasant location and the resident wall lizards and geckos were a constant source of interest. Firecrests and Cirl buntings were regular garden visitors and a Bonelli's eagle also put in an appearance. Luogosanto and local beaches were easily accessible. Marzia was very friendly and a good source of information and assistance and some wonderful preserves. The meal prepared by Agostina and the eggs from neighbour Margarita are both heartily recommended. As a couple with poor backs, the addition of comfortable armchairs in the living room would have improved the comfort of our stay significantly. The provision of a microwave would also be welcome. The trek to obtain drinking water was a bit of a bind.

Fantastic!
Since Stazzo Chivoni was fully booked Leo was so kind to arrange another country house in the neighbourhood, Stazzo Luciana. A beautifully renovated old farm house with thick walls that kept us cool in the Sardinian summer heat. The house offered us complete privacy (nr 1 priority to us!) as is has its own approach from the main road and is surrounded by 10.000 m2 of wild nature. Thanks to the information of Leo and Marzia we visited local markets in nearby villages and bought beautiful Sardinian ingredients. We love the Sardinian food and we love cooking! So we were pleasantly surprised to find THE standard cook book on Sardinian cooking on the book shelf in the house. We had a fantastic week, thank you Leo and Marzia!

I moved here from Milan in 2005. I used to work for an airline, but I was tired of my job and the city....Finally, I swapped the city for nature and beaches (15 km away) and for mild, "southern" temperatures. Quite bit of a change!
Here life is really in the slow track: I have time to enjoy nature and relationships, make homemade tagliatelle, watch the stars and the full moon at night, sitting outside in the garden.
During winter time I like to walk in the countryside and pick some myrtle, or spend some time on deserted beaches.
With Leo, my ex-husband, we enjoyed discovering new bays and small islands in the National Park of La Maddalena with our small sailing boat.
I also love furnishing and decorating my stazzo which is now very original yet simple and cosy.

Why they chose this property

I like this place because it is quiet, with unspoilt Nature and near the coast. In season is not crowded.
Local points of interest:
• Relax on sandy beaches or snorkeling rocky bays within 20 km.
• Great farmer's markets for delicious cheese, cold cuts and fruit.
• Visit the eldest wild Olive tree in Europe (4.000 years old).
• Sailing & Surfing in the blue sea between Sardinia and Corsica.
• Wine tasting in the region of Vermentino.
• Visit the archaeological site of La Prisgiona (1.400 b.c. nuragic civilisation).

What makes this property unique

Enjoy peace and silence with no neighbors! Explore nature and the real Sardinian way of life, getting to know friendly locals. who sell fresh eggs, organic vegetables and jams!
It is a nice, large and cosy house (with a huge garden), hard to find in other parts of Sardinia and strategically located between Archaeological sites, gorgeous beaches and rural villages.
A Slow holiday in Sardinia: homemade wines, huge garden, rustic suite ... hike among cork oaks, snooze in a hammock, snorkel rocky bays.
Chivoni's quiet and relaxed atmosphere and its proximity to a small country village not yet tainted by mass tourism make it the ideal place for a holiday in close contact with the sea, nature and tradition.
Wild, unspoiled and off the beaten track beaches in the west, water sports paradise and beaches with facilities – sun umbrellas and loungers – at Porto Pollo and Palau or more fashionable beaches along the Costa Smeralda. In the North, Corsica and the enchanted islands of Archipelago della Maddalena are easily reached by boat.
