To be taken into account: The standard rates (those quoted by VRBO for our clients) are for the 4 bedroom villa and up to 8 guests in total, including toddlers. For the 5th guest bedroom suite on lower ground floor (eventually 9-10 guests ) as well as the daily shopping service an extra fee is requested.

THE VILLA
Olive Mill villa is a fabulously appointed, authentic, country house with gold – standard service to match, while the meals prepared by its in-house Chef is a gourmet’s delight. This has turned it into a culinary and wine destination, while as from 2022 it is also a yoga retreat, offering additionally in-house massage sessions.

Overall the villa strikes the perfect balance between traditional elegance and modern comfort, where its in-house staff are on hand to ensure guests have a most relaxing stay, free of any hassle !

FULLY CATERED with 4 or 5 (double & twin) bedrooms & en --suite bathrooms, this exceptional property enjoys a large, private, Tuscan style swimming pool, surrounded by a beautifully landscaped private garden adjacent to an ancestral, olive tree, estate dating back to the 16th c. and belonging since then to the same family. *

A superb skippered private motor–boat (for up to 10 passengers) is also at the disposal of guests (at an extra charge and requiring early booking, well prior to arrival).
Furthermore, at almost walking distance from the villa (or 2 minutes by car) lies the child-friendly sandy beach TRAPEZAKI with its sea front restaurant 'Denis'.

Recently built, the villa has sleek interiors and is stylishly decorated in soothing natural tones giving it a fresh summer look. The spacious terrace, where guests can enjoy al fresco drinks & dinners under the stars, controls the views, offering panoramic views over undulating olive groves, all the way to the blue Ionian Sea.

Singled out by Conde Nast for its elegance and top notch service, the property totally charms guests of all ages. The personnel (not live in) is warm, particularly discrete and attentive, providing friendly, unobtrusive service, while sparing no effort to make the stay of guests a carefree delight. The experience with this villa is more like staying at a boutique hotel, but just with the people one has chosen to be surrounded by.

Upon arrival, guests are given an extensive list of dishes (including suggestions for kids) to choose their meals from. The Chef takes care of the shopping, cooking and kitchen cleaning with the help of her assistant, so all guests have to do is decide what they want to eat and then kick back and relax !

Additionally, Yolanda, the Chef and house manager, can arrange a number of activities, from skippered motor-boat daily trips, kayaking, snorkeling, water skiing and jet skiing to in-house massage. Yoga classes and pilates at the Estate premises can also be arranged.

Excellent holiday

It’s a really beautiful house, especially the outside area which is great to spend time there throughout the day. It is tucked away off of the road and surrounded by very well kept grounds. The olive mill and surrounding area is very special. The main aspect though that stands it apart is the chef and housekeeper which make it a really relaxing stay, while the food is among the best I have experienced in Greece.

Lovely relaxing stay

We had a lovely week at Millstone, what bliss not to have to cook or wash up for a whole week! Effe and Yolande looked after us very well and Yolande's cooking is excellent. The gardens and terrace are a lovely place to relax and the pool is a decent size. We were a party of 9 adults and 4 children and used all the available bedrooms. One thing to note is the downstairs/basement bedroom is accessed by stairs outside of the property not within the main villa. The south of the island has sandy beaches, they are hot hot hot and the north of the island has rocky beaches. We stayed one week here and then another week in another villa in the north of the island so that we got to see all that Kefalonia has to offer.

Yolanda and Effie make the stay even more AMAZING!

I must admit, I was a bit leery of having staff around during our stay at the beautiful Millstone Villa, we like our solitude on vacation, but Yolanda and Effie were an absolute delight to have around. They made us a simple breakfast in the morning and a delicious, appetite enticing, meal in the evening that was on par with any restaurant we had been to. It was a relief not to have to deal with dinner reservations or meal prep after a long day out in beautiful Cephalonia. We are now spoiled and will definitely have to return. As for the Villa itself, it is immaculate and very well taken care of. The beautiful garden property is very quiet, a quick drive downhill to local beaches, and a coffee shop/bakery a short walk away. Lysander takes great pride in his property and is very responsive to your emails. He was a pleasure to work with and I can highly recommend his property.

Beautiful, secluded villa with great views

We were delighted with Villa Filalexia and would recommend it to other families and couples looking for a relaxed week on Cephalonia. We were three couples and two toddlers, the villa slept all of us very comfortably and is spacious and stylish. We would definitely come back for the beautiful gardens, pool and views towards the sea, with great sunsets. It felt like a very secluded spot despite being close to a few of the villages and beaches. The highlight for all of us was the staff and cooking - Yolanda and Effie were amazing - the villa was spotless and the food excellent. It was a huge treat to not have to think about anything apart from which menu to choose for the following night, and the breakfasts were very good too. Yolanda also baby sat for us on a few nights which was a big bonus. We found a number of good restaurants nearby - our favourite was il Borgo, just outside Argostoli. Myrtos beach was unbelievably beautiful - puts the other beaches in the shade! Finally, Lysander was a very helpful and attentive host, it was great to have his recommendations. We had a wonderful holiday and would definitely recommend.

Exceptional stay at Olive Mill Villa

What an exceptional week in what is by far the best villa experience we have had in Kefalonia. The villa is set in beautiful grounds with stunning panoramic views and is unquestionably five star quality luxury. From the comfort of the bedrooms to the facilities of the villa, it was faultless and the small detail is really taken care of. What gives Olive Mill the unforgettable guest experience however, is the fact that it is staffed by Yolanda and Effi. The villa is fully catered and chef Yolanda is an incredible cook who prepared by far the best food we had on the island. Effi made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay, keeping the villa and rooms spotlessly clean and tidy and making our dining experiences truly memorable. There was a beautiful table laid each day, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner and as a group of 9 we were thoroughly spoiled. The mealtimes were a definite highlight. The property is joined to an Olive Mill next door which is accessed by a little clearing in the trees and a couple of stone steps. Another highlight of our stay was having dinner prepared in the courtyard of the olive mill one evening. It was exceptional and the views from the peaceful olive mill courtyard were stunning. The villa comes with an option to hire a yacht and skipper for the day - we took advantage of this and I would highly recommend this for a day around the islands. All in all a wonderful stay in a beautiful villa with warm hospitality. Thank you.

This is our second visit to the villa and we chose to return to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary as we wanted to go somewhere special and we knew this would be somewhere special. It didn’t disappoint. The villa is well appointed and maintained to an exceptionally high standard. It is set in beautiful gardens with a fabulous pool lovely views. What makes the villa extra special is the staff Yolanda and Effie who are friendly and welcoming. Simply wonderful

We had an amazing week on Cephalonia thanks to Lysander's careful planning, Yolanda's 5-star cooking and this beautiful villa as our home base. Our only regret is having booked a one-week visit as we could have easily stayed two or three times longer. From the moment we arrived, Yolanda and Efi made us feel very much at home. The house is lovely, extremely comfortable and beautifully kept. The grounds are spectacular, full of flowering shrubs and pots, rosemary hedges and olive trees. In such a magnificent setting, one feels totally connected to the natural world, a rare occurrence for those of us who live in large cities. We spent our days lounging by the pool, exploring nearby beaches and towns and going on several day-long boat trips to areas inaccessible by other means. Lysander has amazing contacts and organized everything for us. We highly recommend chartering "My Yacht" for a day-long cruise to some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. Another must is enjoying one of Yolanda's incomparable dinners next door at the historic Olive Mill, an old and very elegant art of Lysander's ancestral estate. It really is impossible to overstate what an extraordinary experience our visit to Millstone was. We enjoyed every luxurious minute of it and hope to return someday for a much longer stay. Our thanks to Lysander, Yolanda and Efi for making our vacation such a special time.

Fabulous Stay!

We have just returned from an idyllic 2 weeks here. From the amazing Yolanda with her totally delicious cooking to the attentive Lysander who couldn’t do enough to make our stay special with anything from ideas for excursions to boat bookings. This really is one of the finest villas you can stay in on any of the Greek islands for the simple fact that the service level is so high. The villa itself is beautifully presented in a traditional style with lovely gardens which extend next door to the restored Olive mill. Our children loved eating under the vines and the views down to the sea are delightful. I certainly hope we will be back soon!

Luxurious villa holiday with charming (and talented ) chef and maid

We spent a wonderful two weeks at the villa with a number of friends and family and having the lovely chef Yolande and her assistant Effie at our disposal allowed us to entertain and enjoy the company of our party. No more spending time on shopping in the supermarket and worrying about what everyone is going to eat..heavenly! The villa itself is elegantly furnished with some lovely touches with a good view of the coast whilst having sundowners on the terrace. The beach nearby is Trapezaki, (sandy and v clear water) which is approx a 1.5k walk downhill.Not recommended to walk back tho'! Also to be recommended at the beach is Dennis's taverna when not eating at the villa.. All in all we would highly recommend a stay at this villa..perfect for 6-8 people, friends and or family.. Also a special mention to the villa owners recommendations, all the ones we tried were excellent...

A memorable evening at a stunning venue

I am delighted to be able to write a very positive review of this villa, the very attractive estate on which it stands and the dining experience we had. The setting, the interior/ furniture/ furnishings and the grounds are truly beautiful and very special. The attention to detail is noteworthy- everything is of the highest standard. The location is, indeed, quite spectacular. The swimming pool set in the beautifully manicured lawns was very inviting but our visit on this occasion was to sample Yolanda’s legendary cooking; she did not disappoint for all courses were cooked to perfection! Her genuinely warm hospitality and her superb culinary skills made the experience extra special. She kindly gave us a guided tour of all the rooms and also found time to take us to the Olive Mill and the surrounding grounds. The memorable evening we spent at the villa was probably one of the highlights of our two-week holiday on the island and we were privileged to have been given the opportunity to see it and to dine there. Lysander, the owner was most friendly, yet very professional in the manner in which he dealt with our queries prior to arrival. We would have no hesitation in recommending the villa to friends and family and we hope to return ourselves one day with the rest of our family.

This is the most idyllic place to stay. The villa is beautifully designed and decorated and the garden is lovely. Wonderful Family Getaway

The villa was wonderful. We were pampered and spoilt by the chef and the maid. Luxury villa, amazing food and service. Yolanda is a gem. Thought the villa was pricey at first but it was worth every penny. Good value for the 5* experience. Better than a luxury hotel as private. A truly wonderful, relaxing experience. 9 days was not enough. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Wonderful week in a wonderful villa

This is a beautiful villa in a stunning location and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay here. The villa was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need - a true home from home. The staff were wonderful and chef Yolanda prepared some of the best Greek food we have ever tasted. Her puddings and fresh Lobster especially were delicious. The location is ideal for accessing the lovely, unspoilt Trapezaki beach which is particularly good for young children. And the views from the villa and the sunsets were amazing. Would definitely recommend highly to anyone looking to visit the island.

Our second visit and as good if not better!

This was our second visit to this beautiful villa. We enjoyed our holiday here so much last year that we immediately booked again for our early summer holiday this year. It completely met all our expectations again and even more! This time, there were just 3 of us and although the villa is spacious, it also felt intimate enough for a small party of people. Yolanda's cooking is superb and she is a delight to be around. As usual, Lysander met us enthusiastically with new ideas of what to see and do on this lovely island - beaches, restaurants, boat trips and vineyards. We are already looking at our calendar for next year to stay there for a third time!

The most fantastic week at Villa Filalexia

We have just spent the most fantastic week at Villa Filalexia. You could not ask for more! The villa is beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished in every room. Comfortable and very well equipped with everything provided that you might need for a relaxing and worry free break. The pool is a real treat as are the outdoor areas to relax and eat. The quality is wonderfully high. Lysander greeted us as soon as we arrived at the villa and wanted to ensure that we made the most of our holiday. His recommendations for hidden beaches and restaurants meant we really explored and got an authentic taste of the island. Yolanda exceeded all our expectations and she is most certainly a wizard cook! Nothing was too much trouble for her. She looked after us so well and made sure we could relax and enjoy our break. Her cooking is superb. She bought fresh food daily, visiting the fish markets to get the best catch of the day. Her desserts and baking were just as exceptional. Add to that her lovely personality and giggles - we will definitely miss her! Kefalonia is a beautiful island, with so much to see and do. A week was not enough to do everything. We can recommend a trip up to the North of the island as well as to the West. Seeing Atheras Bay from the road above made us all go "wow!" We felt like very welcome guests and we look forward to our next holiday here.

Fantastic villa on lovely Kefalonia

We felt very welcome from the very beginning! Lysander, the owner, and his very valuable member of staff, Yolanda greeted us on arrival. Lysander was keen to ensure he showed us around the villa and its facilities and how to make the most of our holiday. Yolanda served drinks and we felt at home straightaway. The villa is stunning and easily the best I have ever stayed in. It has been very carefully fitted out to a very high standard and every detail has been very well thought through. The garden with its pool is a delight to be in with the backdrop of olive groves going down to the sea. We travelled with friends and our teenage son so can comment on the suitability both from a ‘couples’ and ‘family’ perspective. Yolanda’s gourmet cooking and care for us was second to none. She listened to what we wanted but also made recommendations so that we got the freshest ingredients with each dish. She was great company in the villa and her smiles and cheerfulness were lovely to wake up to each morning. Lysander was keen that not only did we make the most of his beautiful villa but that we also saw the best of Kefalonia. He drove us to some of the local beaches and restaurants and came back the following day to talk through what we planned to do and gave advice as to the best routes and points of interest. I cannot recommend this villa highly enough. We are already making our booking for next year!

Best of Both Worlds

We spent a most enjoyable week at Villa Filalexia this Summer. The interior is pleasant and attractive, but the outside space is the real star of this property and it was here we spent 95% of our waking hours. It consists of a small but extremely well maintained landscaped garden where the inviting pool is situated, and large terraces that are equally ideal for morning coffee or evening drinks, for conversing or reading and relaxing. Dinner is served al fresco which is a real delight-particulary for us sun starved Brits! On the subject of food, the villa comes with a cook who prepares breakfast each day and either lunch or dinner. And what a cook! To eat Yolanda's freshly prepared and delicious culinary offering, under the stars, was a joy. The advantages of having a cook on board are obvious; no shopping, cooking of clearing up, and you get to eat fresh, home made and delicious food in the comfort of your own villa. Before arriving we were, however, a little ambivalent about whether the presence of someone so much of the time would compromise the privacy that makes renting a villa so appealing in the first place. We need not of worried. Yolanda was charming and discrete in equal measure and did not infringe on our sense of having the place to ourselves. Mention should also be made of the generosity of Lysander, the owner, who, on the morning after we arrived, devoted a couple of hours of his time showing us some of the best local beaches and tavernas. The latter recommendations also proved to be excellent. We were so impressed by the quality of the food-and certainly by London standards-excellent value of money. In all a delightful stay, in a charming villa, which combines the best of both worlds: the privacy of your own space with the facilities of a high end boutique hotel.

well located and extremly well looked after estate with the benefit of first class daily service from excellent home made meals to cleaning, gardening,laundry etc all provided under the supervision of the very lovely Yolanda the chef - a bit of a relais chateaux type of treatment but with the superior benefit as staying in your own private villa Highly reccomended for families but also adults only

"Traumwoche"

Zusammen mit unserer Familie und lieben Freunden verbrachten wir eine traumhaft schöne Woche im "Migliaressis Estate". Wir wurden ausgesprochen herzlich empfangen und haben uns von der ersten Minute an wohl gefühlt. Die Villa ist sehr geschmackvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet. Der ebenfalls äußerst gepflegte, ruhige Garten mit Swimming-Pool lädt zum Entspannen ein. Einzigartig ist Yolanda, die gute Seele des Hauses. Sie kümmerte sich rührend um unser Wohl und verwöhnte uns mit unglaublich köstlichen Gerichten. Eine wahre "Perle", die uns den Abschied sehr schwer fallen ließ! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

The sea view Estate located near the historic St. George Castle (the old Venetian capital of the island) - has been in our family since 1604 and has been passed down through the generations. We began restoring the Estate and the old Olive Mill in 2004 as a hobby, whilst Lysander was serving as a Greek diplomat in Vienna.

The vision was to turn this wider property, which controls the views with olive groves rolling all the way to the Ionian Sea, into an exclusive summer retreat, showcasing life at the Estate through the centuries. The project was completed in 2009/10, with a refined holiday villa for discerning travelers that reflects our shared passion of interior design.

WINE TASTING
With 3.500 years long history of cultivating grapes, Cephalonia (Kefalonia), is an ideal destination for wine connoisseurs. Most of the island’s wines are made predominantly from indigenous grape varieties, the most well-known being Robola, a lime-scented wine grape of Cephalonia to be sipped, as pointed out by Janis Robinson of the Financial Times, ‘ with memories of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin ’.
Another particularly interesting wine is that which grows from the rare red Mavrodaphne grape in the Lixouri area. Make sure to sample this dry, red wine which has a hint of cherry and wild berry flavour.
A visit to a Cephalonian winery, such as the traditional Haritatos vineyard is certainly a must!
