We were a group of five and we all agreed that we had had an amazing experience.I am a gardener so I have some understanding of how much effort is required to keep gardens in the kind of condition that one beholds here. Everything is pristine. The guest house was delightful. The kitchen was well laid out and has everything one could need. Our group of five had plenty of room at the kitchen table. Each of our rooms was well appointed, and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were more than adequate. It is an old house and one has to understand that things may take a little tweeking.Emma and Maggie were the most delightful hosts. They were available at our beck and call. All of our needs were taken care of.Our tour of the gardens on our last day was the finishing touch of a perfect week.
Lovely house in a magnificent setting. Ideal base for travelling in and around Grasse and the surrounding villages and towns as well as Nice.Hosts were friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay & would highly recommend this property
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful villa, located just outside of Grasse. The gardens were amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis on the spectacular court. The pool was lovely and we enjoyed eating outside many evenings. Maggie and Cyril were very welcoming and helpful.
Lovely villa in beautiful grounds. House is equipped with everything you might need. Very good communication with the hosts too. Had a wonderful time staying here and would highly recommend to friends and family!
We had a fantastic stay. The landlady was extremely helpfull and friendly. The house was cool and confortable. We enjoyed the pool and tennis court with stunning views. We can recommend the guesthouse to any family.
Enjoyable and comfortable week's stay. Cyril and Emma were most helpful in the couple of issues we had: remote entry code did not work, and pool needed cleaning.
Nice views to the Med and surrounded by a lovely garden. Some way out of Grasse (20 minutes walk to city centre), but very peaceful.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that the team responded promptly to your issues.
Wonderful property, splendid gardens, in a quiet mountainside location with views of the surrounding hills and mountains and the Mediterranean in the distance. My wife, son and I used this as a base to visit the surrounding area (Nice, Cannes, Antibes, St Paul, Gourdon, Grasse). The best part of every day was returning home to our mountainside oasis. Lady Lockett could not have been kinder or more helpful in making our stay a delight.

Thank you for your kind review. You were delightful guests and it was great to know you enjoyed our corner of paradise!
We had a fantastic time in this beautiful house and garden. Cyril was very friendly and helpful especially when we had somethibg to fix.
Thank you again!
We didn't have to take care of the garbage, which was also very nice. Thank you for everything!
P. S.
During our stay, the free-running dogs of the owners were present and also came to us. You should clarify beforehand whether you are afraid of dogs or whether they will not be on site at the time of the trip.
We were so impressed with this charming, spotless home-away-from-home, nestled among olive trees and terraced gardens, with the pool and all amenities you could want. There was ample space for two couples to enjoy peace, quiet and privacy, and yet cook and dine together either outdoors on the flagstone patio under the umbrella, or inside the comfy kitchen. It was the perfect respite after a hot, crowded visit to Cannes, Nice, or Monte Carlo, or into Grasse, all easily accessible by Christophe’s taxi service and/or train. Our hostess was very personable and helpful in setting us up with the taxi in the beginning, and we were able to arrange outings with him ourselves afterwards. We would certainly recommend this beautiful getaway for a family/friends holiday.

Jamal, his wife and their friends were delightful guests and enjoyed the house and garden. They were intrepid explorers of our area. They would certainly be most welcome here again.
English gardener's slice of Mediterranean paradise
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this delightful stone villa overlooking Grasse with the sea in the far distance. At every turn we noticed attention to detail and superb maintenance. (Do they paint and renovate between each rental?) The owner has taken 15 years to renovate the numerous stone walls and has lavishly landscaped every nook and cranny, creating an English gardener's Mediterranean paradise. It is kept up meticulously by several full-time landscapers. The grounds are extensive; it took several days to wander through their entirety. It would be wrong to just overnight here; you must give yourselves time to enjoy the experience of just being here and soaking in the atmosphere. We have traveled extensively and have never stayed anywhere more impressive. The property is on a side-hill; there are a few stairs between the driveway and the guesthouse; many more to explore all the gardens.
If you want to wake up in the morning and step outside your delightful Provencal Villa with its own swimming pool to see a landscape so spectacular that you just have to smile, ‘ La Mouissone’ is your place.
This is not a slick , faceless modern villa: it has been modernised but fits into the style of the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte D’Azure. It’s clean, fresh and charming and set high up on the slopes in one of the most stunning locations of the region. It has breath-taking vistas across steep slopes and valleys of olive groves, scattered hamlets and cypress trees, to the coast, with the sea washed across the horizon.
I found the hosts charming and very helpful (thank you!) and I was in awe of the now mature, extensive gardens that they have built from scratch and planted up with many unusual plants amongst the Mediterranean planting. At every turn there is something else to see and to explore, another area of garden design to catch your interest, or another stunning view to take in.
It’s a holiday that will revitalise you: simply being there will nourish your soul and fill you full of wellbeing, and then there’s the region to explore.
Close by and a lively walk away is the ancient quartier of Grasse, full of the romance of a French Medieval town; Cannes and the coast is around 17km away, Antibes and it’s beaches about 27 km away; there are day trips into the surrounding countryside and other medieval villages like St Paul de Vence.
Don't miss a chance to stay here
Wonderful, tranquil and beautiful place to stay. Gardens are magical and the views magnificent. Maggie is a wonderful host providing great recommendations for places to visit and the best markets to buy the delicious local produce. Thank you

Lauriane and her companions were super. So glad they enjoyed their stay. They would be welcome to visit again any time.
We had a wonderfully restful stay in this fabulous 3 bed cottage. The grounds were incredible and the view absolutely spectacular. The cottage itself was spacious, spotless and well appointed, with 3 good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The weather was on our side and it was glorious to be able to sit by our own pool, even though in May, it was a bit too cold to get in!
The kitchen is well equipped, the bathrooms had generous showers, with plenty of hot water, but no baths. Not a problem for us, but always good to know.
The beds were comfortable and the sheets smelled wonderfully fresh, as did all the towels.
Being May, it wasn’t too hot at night, but the bedrooms do not have air conditioning and in the height of summer, they could get very warm.
Margaret our host was incredibly welcoming and showed us around on arrival. There was a bit of a hiccup trying to get in, so a key safe might not be a bad idea, as a back up.
The setting of the cottage itself is stunning and within walking distance of Grasse. Grasse we found slightly disappointing, so we spent most of our time eating in at the cottage, soaking up the sun and enjoying the glorious peace and quiet this cottage has to offer.
We would definitely go back and I would happily recommend this property!
We had a fantastic week staying at this property in late April. The house is spotlessly clean, with good quality beds, bedding and towels etc.
The main attraction of the house is the setting. The gardens are AMAZING, the view down to the Mediterranean is SPECTACULAR and there is the good sized pool and a fantastic tennis court.
The hosts, Maggie and Dave were very welcoming and were there if we needed anything.
The location is perfect for visiting Cannes, Antibes, Nice whilst being able to get away from the hustle and bustle if you prefer a quieter location like we do. Beautiful villages and hamlets in the mountains are a short drive away and obviously a car is essential.
I would highly recommend this property for couples and families who prefer a quite location but with easy access to the busy seaside resorts.
An absolutely wonderful property in the most amazing garden and scenery. Lovely pool and incredible tennis court! The hosts were most welcoming and we were invited on a walk around the grounds which are just superb. The local area has so much to offer to all. We loved it- thank you! We will be back!
magnifique propriété
nous avons passez un séjour merveilleux dans une maison authentique avec ses jardins si bien entretenus.

About the host
Hosted by Lady Lockett
Maggie Lockett studied Practical Horticulture, Plants and Plantsmanship and advanced Plants and Plantsmanship at the English Garden School (Chelsea Physic Garden), gaining a Diploma with Distinction in each. More recently, she has continued to study, including intensive plant tours to South Africa's Cape, China and Japan, in order to to generate a greater understanding of Mediterranean gardening. She has extensive plant knowledge and has spent the last fifteen years developing her gardens within an olive grove.
Why they chose this property
We were looking for a typically Provencal style of property, where we could express our own ideas and style. We discovered this property of about three hectares, which had half to two thirds cultivated and the rest wild. Later we became avidly interested in gardening and particularly Mediterranean climate plants and techniques; and so found we had made such a lucky choice in our French home.
The grounds are very spacious, allowing plenty of privacy for both a main house and guest villa. It has a feeling of seclusion and yet is not too far from anywhere you'd want to visit. Clients often ask 'why don't you say how peaceful it is on the website?' - It's just difficult to say just how relaxing and peaceful it is!
What makes this property unique
It is always a delight to discover the pleasures of the area outside the high summer season. Spring has gorgeous warm weather - walking, swimming, playing tennis are all very enjoyable, if you can tear yourself away from admiring the gardens and wild flowers!
The autumn is a great surprise with gardens still showing a floral displays up to the end of November. An lovely "Indian summer" allows one to lunch outdoors almost until winter. Many of our guests come in the off peak times to enjoy the hills, or just to relax with the odd game of tennis, and then enjoy dinner by an open fire in the evenings.
The local villages are more charming than ever in spring and autumn, with a more relaxed feeling in the build-up to summer and a peaceful calm as the families go back to work and school.
