Cliff-Top Ocean-Front Villa With Gardens And Private Pool

Casa do Ananas is a large property, extending to over 3,000 sq.ft. and was built to a high specification with; 2 en-suite bathrooms, open-plan kitchen and dining room with large terrace overlooking the bay of Lajes. All bedrooms have satellite television, as does the kitchen. The lower ground floor provides a large open plan lounge, real fire, TV, a further double bedroom and a shower room. A patio area to the front of the property is accessed by double doors. The property enjoys a generous sized plot overlooking the sea. The house is split level with external terraced gardens and a large 17 x 8m swimming pool & sun terrace.

The swimming pool area is gated but guests must close the gates to ensure the safety of babies and children. Babies and children must be supervised at all times. The internal staircase has a gate at the top. The balcony rail next to the dining area, securing the drop to the lower ground floor, is fitted with a mesh.

Pico Island Silveria
The house is lovely, well appointed and spacious. Walking path was accessible from ocean side and ocean swimming area very close. James was super accommodating and informative. Weather was not swimming weather but sitting poolside with a book and a glass of wine soaking in the evening rays and listening to the ocean waves crashing was most enjoyable.

Yes, it does exist! Breathtaking house on Pico Island.
Looking for places to stay on Pico Island, I thought, like someone else wrote in their review, this was too good to be true. But it is actually very much like in the pictures on the profile, and then some! Apart from the beauty of it, you can tell how thoughtfully this accomodation has been planned. Starting from the detailed and informative description on the profile and in the house book, the navigation instructions, the easy check in (key box) and - not to forget - the kind and helpful contact to the owners and their local family/staff that keep the property in shape. The house itself is situated in Silveira, about a 5 minute drive (yes, you absolutely need a car!) from Lajes, the local ex whalers village. You're right on the edge, directly next to the sea, maybe 100 meters away from an easily accessible bathing site (recommended at high tide). You can hear the sea and the Cory's Shearwater (owa ow ow). There is a hotel and restaurant in walking distance that we didn't visit. The layout of the house and pool area is extremely spacious. 2 rooms with A/C in an almost hotel-like configuration with personal bathrooms and 1 room for 2 people with an adjacent bathroom. A huge covered balcony with sea view and lounge furniture. The living room with 2 nice sofas and a big TV and internet router. A great pool deep enough to dive in with a relax and barbecue area. A kitchen with all the good stuff and a washer/dryer. More than enough (pool) towels! Hope to come back!!

Fantastic Location Great Stay!
From the moment we arrived, we had a great time. The house was very well stocked and in a great location. Every morning I would take a 5 mile run on the trail around the corner from the house. It was close to a natural swimming pool which was perfect for the family. We also enjoyed using the pool and grill setup at the house. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Wir haben den Aufenthalt in der Casa do Ananas sehr genossen. Die Unterkunft ist ideal für eine Gruppe von 3 Pärchen so wie wir es waren. Es hat an nichts gemangelt, sehr gut ausgestattete Küche, toller Poolbereich mit Grill und Pizzaofen und auch sonst eine sehr hochwertige Austattung. Wir können das Haus uneingeschränkt emphelen. Auch die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter ist top. Danke für einen wunderschönen Urlaub!!!!

Casa do Ananas is the long time dream of husband and wife Edna and James. We bought the land 21 years ago and have spent the time since seeking development consent and getting the design just right to satisfy ourselves (and the planners). The house was completed in 2009.
Edna was born on the island and, whilst we now live in the UK, she remains at heart an Acorean. The whole island is really one extended family and our times on Pico are always fully of family fun. This project is intended to provide a retreat for our family but also to pay for itself by being rented out.
Acoreans are very welcoming and our family on the island will make every effort to ensure that our guests return to their homes far afield with fond memories and strong recommendations.
We do hope to attract people who want to see the real Acores.

Why they chose this property

The land was purchased in 2001. We completed the property in 2009 and have listed with ownersdirect from the start.

Edna was born on the island so there was only ever going to be one location for our place abroad!
We spent 5 months looking for the right location; just the right blend of, views, proximity to the sea, remoteness and proximity to Lajes for the convenience of shops, restaurants and bars.

What makes this property unique

The Acores, and in particular Pico, are unspoilt. We often hear people remarking about how laid back the lifestyle is.
I love swimming off the coast looking at all the fish and maritime life which abounds. On rough days the swimming pool has to suffice; a tough life.
Our family includes Jack aged 14. He loves the water and we often spend a late afternoon fishing for crabs and small fish in the rock pools.
For us it was important that a restaurant and bar were within easy walking distance. We go to Pico to relax. The first few days are spent unwinding and unpacking.
Many of our guests report seeing dolphins and the occasional whale playing in the bay in front of the house. As i get terribly sea sick this is as close to whale watching as can get!
