This was our first time at this property, but not out first time on the island. The house was clean, well stocked, and very comfortable. Everyoner had enought room when they wanted space, but we spent the eveinga on thr massive couch watching family movies.
Beautiful location and home. The kids (and parents) found plenty of room to play games, find quiet space, and eat together. Slept so well and enjoyed one of our favorite things about the Island - the rocky beaches!! This home is spectacular and takes me back to special memories of visits to the island over the past 4 decades. Fires and sunsets on the beach and only a 'stones throw' from Schoolhouse Beach. Perfect for this family of 5. We are so grateful for Bill, he was a great communicator and the house was exactly as we had expected. Gratitude for this trip!! Highly recommend.
Washington Island is so beautiful; one must stay for several days to enjoy all the local flavor and friendly folks. This house was perfectly located on the bluff overlooking the lake; a beautiful sunset every night, perfect spot for a campfire near the beach; Comfortable beds and windows that let the fresh lake breeze blow through. We highly recommend this wonderful home!
My wife and I are preparing for our busy season for work so we were looking for a few days in a beautiful private spot. Bill’s cottage was perfect. Great views, beautiful pebble beach. Bill a great host, good communicator.
The views from the house and on the beach were amazing! Unfortunately it was pretty windy when we were there so we didn't get to enjoy a fire on the beach. The house was comfortable.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at the cottage - we found it to be clean and had everything we needed to fully relax and enjoy our time. The view off the patio is awesome, the steps down to the water and the board walk are magnificent, and we found the cottage to be spacious for our group of 4 adults, one kid and one infant. This is truly a gem and we would love to return!
We enjoyed our 2 week stay in this cottage on the lake shore. The new beds & furniture were very comfortable. The cottage is older but was very clean & well stocked with kitchen utensils.
The one word to describe our stay was “Epic”
The view is amazing from the deck or down on the shore. Enjoyed the beautiful sunsets!! Stargazing every night & one night caught the ISS on its orbit. Thank you, Bill
Location was great! Lacking in some kitchen supplies or very old/cheap but ok due to location on water. Large hill to get to location made biking very hard. Rocky beach was hard to swim at - need swim shoes but we were told about that and the privacy was worth it. A bit hot without AC but that’s ok. County park beach was a great find for non rocky swimming. Great place overall.
We spent beautiful days in a perfect setting. We enjoyed peaceful mornings and beautiful sunset at this property that was so quiet, yet is was only a short distance from town.
Bill made communication very easy, quickly responding to any and all questions we had.
We would definitely return.

A wonderful and quiet vacation spot! We loved the private beach area and would have loved to use the firepit while looking over the water but it was too windy when we visited. The property is beautifully set on a rock bluff...we thought it would be neat to fill the area between the house and water with wildflowers to make it more appealing. Do note the steps to the water are a bit steep if you are not confident on your feet. The home is welcoming and has everything you need. It is dated but the 3 bedrooms worked out great for our group. We had a glitch with our payment since we booked through Expedia (you have to go through VRBO to finish your payment and I didn't realize that) and the property owner was very kind when we didn't realize our second payment was late. We would definitely stay here again.
The view, deck, and beach area are spectacular. The well-constructed stairs down to the beach were very impressive. Beds were comfy and the bathroom was updated. Plenty of room to spread out. If you’re sensitive to smells, there was a musty odor that needed to be aired out. I’m sure in the summer, when the house is occupied and opened more, that probably isn’t an issue. The kitchen and original parts of the house are quite old, but appliances were newer. A unique property with a really nice outdoor area.
Nice getaway. We stayed 4 nights. Pros are it's very quite and you feel like no one is around you. Beautiful sunsets down by the lake with a fire pit. Very clean property. Enough dishes and cooking items to make meals. Had lots of fun exploring the island. Overall we were very satisfied. Cons are it's a small bluff from the lake to the house so lots of steps (not a problem for us, but wouldn't be great for someone who doesn't do steps well). Lake side by fire pit is all rocks. Pretty, but hard to walk on. Not huge cons, overall we enjoyed it. Would stay again.
This is a great little space! Pictures provided are accurate. The private beach area is wonderful any time of day— we enjoyed our coffee sitting in the provided chairs and listening to the waves every morning.
We used the charcoal grill a couple times and had dinner on the deck almost every evening.
We had had stunning sunsets and a couple of evening storms that made for some wonderful pictures with the cloud formations.
A couple things to note — while the kitchen is decently stocked with cookware and utensils there are is no cooking spray, herbs and spices for grilling etc. so bring from home or be prepared to stop at the grocery store in town. There really isn’t a lot of Tupperware for storing leftovers in the fridge either, so keep those things in mind if you like to make meals at home while vacationing at VRBOs like we do. Also, don’t forget hand towels for the kitchen and bathroom as no linens are provided. (It’s stated, we just happened to forget those smaller towels)
While there is no air conditioning there are fans to use in every room to keep air circulating.
Overall, this is a beautiful, quiet space that we would stay at again.
