Villa Estia is a magnificent architect designed home, surrounded by the stark beauty of Cretan mountains with views of the warm and inviting Mediterranean Sea.
Comfortable Estia nestles in landscaped gardens and a maturing olive tree grove, far enough from neighbouring properties to leave you in a private, calm world of your own.
Your family and friends can unwind by the pool or soak up the sun on comfortable sunbeds before cooling off in the shaded seating areas. At the end of a great day, eat a relaxed meal cooked to perfection on the open-air barbecue or dine more formally inside - where there is still plenty of space for the family to spread – your choice on a warm Cretan night.
The villa includes a modern, well equipped kitchen (including 2 dishwashers), washing machine, Smart TV, music system, Wi-Fi (with internet access) and hot and cold air conditioning throughout. There is a full range of patio furnishings available.
Just a 15 minute walk to the nearest beach, a five minute drive to the tavernas, bars, shops and the safe family friendly beaches of Makrygialos.
The villa is managed by Lagada Management Company (LMC) with English, German, French and Greek speakers available. LMC is only 2 minutes away and there is someone available during most waking hours. A LMC representative will meet you, give you the keys and show you round the property.
A car is highly recommended but you can manage with taxis to/from Makrygialos town.

I Have to say that this has been the most special holiday for my family, from initial booking to guidance, information and assistance from the LMC team and the property owners Martin and Sue. The Villa is better than the pictures show with lots of space nice pool clean and above all quiet. The location allows you to travel to the south side of the island where most is still untouched by tourism. Makry itself is a beautiful little harbour town with tavernas and an accessible beach. Food is plentiful and reasonably priced. I my belief you will not find a better villa and location in this area than Estia Villa

Fabulous villa

Last year we discovered Villa Estia. We returned this year and had a wonderful holiday again. The villa is in a quiet environment, but close to a pleasant village with lots of restaurants and little shops. For hikers there are some beautiful gorges nearby, but also less tiring sights worth visiting. And of course there is always the pool! ;-)

Cretian Getaway 08/24

Our holiday in the Villa met all our high expectations. The Villa has superb accommodation and outside areas and facilities. The Management Company looked after a couple of issues which arose, including loss of hot water, very quickly. Makry Gialos is a fantastic and authentic resort, away from the tourist hot spots. So nice, I fear its secret will be out soon and it will grow and lose some of its charm. I recommend you get to it now! Martyn, Shirley & family.

Tackle the East

The house is perfect for a big group. Plenty of outdoor seating, nice pool, plenty of everything in the kitchen, good hot showers and most importantly the beds are super comfy. The drive in from the main road however, a dirt track about 1km long is not for the faint hearted Also we had issues with the wifi for 3 of our 4 days. It may have been us just not being able to sort it… wifi does appear to be elusive all over Crete. Martin was a super attentive host as were the managing agents. A great launching place to discover the East.

Relaxing Family Getaway at Villa Estia – Just Outside Makry Gialos

We had an amazing stay at Villa Estia, set just a short drive from Makry Gialos in a peaceful hillside location. The villa offered everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday and then some!The views were truly breathtaking—rolling hills, sea glimpses, and beautiful sunsets right from the terrace. The pool was a standout feature for us. It was perfect for both younger children and adults, with a great layout and plenty of space to swim or cool off. There were also plenty of shaded areas around the pool and outdoor seating, which was ideal for escaping the midday sun without having to head inside.Inside, the air-conditioning worked flawlessly throughout the villa—powerful, quiet, and consistent. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and there was a great sense of privacy and calm throughout. We especially enjoyed the dining spaces both indoors and out—perfect for big family meals or laid-back breakfasts with a view. There are many lovely places to see in a hire car and easily fell your time up on the island. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. Villa Estia is peaceful, well-equipped, and an excellent choice for families or groups looking to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of Crete. We’d absolutely stay again!

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt in der Villa. Die Ausstattung war super. Und uns hat insbesondere der schöne Außenbereich gefallen, mit zahlreichen gemütlichen Sitzgelegenheiten und einem tollen Pool. Von dort aus kann man sogar das Meer sehen und auf der anderen Seite eine schöne Berglandschaft. Die Kommunikation mit dem Eigentümer und der Agentur War immer super. Wir durften sogar 1 Stunde früher einchecken. Alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert.

Wir hatten einen großartigen Aufenthalt in Villa Estia! Das Haus ist großzügig und bietet komfortabel Platz für in unserem Fall 4 Erwachsene und 4 Kinder (4 Schlafzimmer, zwei davon mit eigenem Bad). Das Haus ist super ausgestattet mit einer großen Küche, zwei Kühlschränken, zwei Spülmaschinen, und alle Räume sind klimatisiert. Perfekt sind auch die vielen verschiedenen Sitzgelegenheiten und der Grillbereich draußen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, das Haus hat eine tolle Atmosphäre. Zur Lage: Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig in einem kleinen Seitental, erreichbar über eine kleine, holprige Straße, die aber kein Problem darstellt. Kaum Nachbarn, nur drei weitere Häuser sind dort mit genug Abstand. Super schöner Blick auf die Berge und das Meer. Besonders nachts (aber auch tagsüber) hat man das Gefühl, mitten in der Natur zu sein, was wunderschön ist. Nur der Wind, die Sterne, und sonst absolute Ruhe. Dennoch ist die nächste Stadt Makry Gialos schnell mit dem Auto erreichbar. Schöne Tavernen und Strände in der nahen Umgebung. Man kann aber auch einfach einen Tag am Pool verbringen und die Ruhe genießen. Ebenfalls noch hervorzuheben: Die Kommunikation mit den Besitzern Martin & Sue ist hervorragend! Sie reagieren sehr schnell und sind super nett und hilfsbereit. Das Haus wird vom nahegelegenen Lagada Resort betreut, auch hier waren die Leute sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder in diese schöne Ecke Kretas (und in dieses Haus!).

Tolle Villa mit traumhaften Blick

Wir waren für 10 Tage in der Villa Estia und haben jeden Tag genossen. Sie lag sehr ruhig und abseits vom Trubel mit Blick auf das Meer. Die Zimmer waren geräumig und die Betten bequem. Es waren Kleinigkeiten nicht in Ordnung, wie einzelne Lampen und ein Toiletten Deckel, aber das hat nicht gestört. Der Pool war zwar nicht riesig, aber zum Abkühlen har es allemal gereicht. Als Tip für den Weg zum Haus: ein Geländewagen wäre von Vorteil. Wir können es nur weiterempfehlen

Prachtige villa

Prachtige villa, werkelijk van alle gemakken voorzien. Heel rustig gelegen, maar niet ver van gezellig dorp met winkeltjes, leuke terrasjes en vele lekkere restaurants. In de omgeving leuke plaatsen om te bezoeken, opgravingen, mooie stranden, uitdagende kloofwandelingen. Voor elk wat wils!

we discovered a new face of Crete

We stayed 1 week with 3 boys during the summer. The house is really nice, well furnished. The swimming pool has the right size to enjoy and spend a lot of time in it, from early morning to late evening. The house is isolated, meaning it is really calm and pieceful. And the view on the sea is just amazing. The whole area is nice. Less tourists then in the north of Crete, but with amazing beaches with real sand and beautiful. And clearly less croawded then in other parts of Crete. Not to forget the communication with Martin and Sue, that have been super helpful. The whole family enjoyed the stay and we highly recommend this location.

Très bon séjour

Très bon séjour dans la maison de Martin et Sue. C’était simple de communiquer avec eux et avec l’agence. Bon accueil. La maison est très agréable, très calme, avec une vue sur la mer dont on ne se lasse pas et une belle piscine. On a pu rayonner et découvrir cette magnifique région Sud-est de la Crète.

Traumurlaub!

Das Haus ist einfach großartig! Es war super sauber und sehr gepflegt. 2 Schlafzimmer haben ein Bad im Zimmer, 2 teilen sich ein Bad. Für uns gar kein Problem. Jedes Zimmer hat eine Terrasse und auf dem Dach ist noch eine riesige Terrasse. Aber das Highlight ist der Pool und die vielen Sitzecken und -möglichkeiten im Außenbereich. Auch sind genug Liegen vorhanden, sowie eine Kiste mit Wasserspielzeug. Der Weg zum Haus ist gewöhnungsbedürftig und könnte mal geteert werden. Aber diese Hoppelpiste gehört irgendwie halt dazu.😄 Auch die Ansprechpartnerin vor Ort war zu jeder Zeit erreichbar und hat sich auch immer sofort gekümmert, wenn etwas war. Die Umgebung war für uns ebenfalls genau richtig. Absolute Ruhe am Haus und abends sind wir nach Makrygialos gefahren (ca.7 Minuten Fahrt) um an der dortigen Strandpromenade zu essen. Ein nettes Restaurant reiht sich an das nächste und die typischen Souvenir-und Strandläden sucht man hier umsonst. Wir haben in den 14 Tagen nicht alle Restaurants geschafft, aber immer gut gegessen. Die Großeltern haben gerne auch noch einen Aperitif in dem ein oder anderen Café vor dem Abendessen genossen. Besonders toll war für uns, dass die Kinder auch am Abend noch am Strand spielen konnten und wir dadurch ganz entspannt sitzen bleiben. Wer trotzdem gerne mal durch den ein oder anderen Souvenirladen schlendern möchte, muss einfach nur die Hauptstraße etwas von den Restaurants hochlaufen. Außerdem können wir noch die 20 Minuten entfernte Bucht Agia Fotia empfehlen. Dort waren wir immer am (Stein)Strand. Es gibt ein Restaurant und eine Bar, Liegestühle und Sonnenschirme (7€ für 2 Liegestühle mit Sonnenschirm) und kristallklares Wasser! Ein Traum. Wir waren wirklich rundum begeistert. Aufgrund der wirklich hohen Temperaturen haben wir leider nicht viele Ausflüge gemacht. Aber in Heraklion waren wir einen Tag und können das nur empfehlen. Auch hier überwiegen tausende von schönen Tavernen, Kneipen, Bars und Restaurants und dazwischen findet man ganz unauffällig zahlreiche Shopping Möglichkeiten. Außerdem waren wir in Agios Nikolaios und auch das war wirklich einen Ausflug wert. Auf dem Weg dorthin findet man auch wieder schöne Buchten, also Badesachen einpacken. Die hatten wir leider nicht dabei. Ich denke man kann hören, wie gut es uns gefallen hat. Die Griechen sind unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit und wir werden bestimmt wieder kommen. Und mit Sicherheit auch wieder in dieses Haus!

Traumhafte Zeit !

Das Haus ist toll ! 4 Schlafzimmer und auch der Wohnbereich schön groß. Alles war ordentlich sauber und der Pool wurde regelmäßig gereinigt. Die Straße ist tatsächlich abenteuerlich auf den letzten 300 m. Es war sehr ruhig und entspannt! Unser 4jähriger war begeistert vom Pool :-) Das Haus kann man uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Tolles Haus, sehr gepflegt !!!

Das Haus ist in einem wirklich sehr guten Zustand. Sauber!!!! Es bietet sehr viel Platz im und um das Haus. Auch die Poolanlage ist super. Die fest verankerten Sonnenschirme sind ideal, da es manchmal sehr windig ist. Wer seine Ruhe haben will, ist in diese Haus bestens bedient. Der Kontakt zum Vermieter und zum Verwalter ist sehr angenehm und funktioniert prima. Lediglich die Zufahrtsstraße (400-500 m) zu den 3-4 Häusern ist sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig (Schotterpiste bei der das Auto das eine oder andere mal aufsitzt) . Hier sollte dringend was gemacht werden!!!

This area of Crete, with its friendly and laid back people, has its own 'micro-climate' (SE Crete has more sunshine hours than any other part of Europe) and is famous for its jaw dropping scenery, stunning beaches, wonderful weather, olives and locally produced wine. It is less bustling and noisy than the north of the island yet still with plenty of things for an active family to do.
