Ideally located between two of the most sought after villages in the Alpujarras with a private drive leading directly to the house, benefitting from easy walking access to the shops, bars and restaurants of either village and numerous walks in every direction. The house was built in the traditional way with stone and chestnut beams and is double-glazed throughout. At certain times of the year the shepherd brings his sheep to the meadow next door and you can enjoy the music of more than a hundred bells as they happily graze the varied grasses and flowers.

The most wonderful place we ever had.

A very lovely place to stay with it's beautiful garden full of flowers and we enjoyed it every day. The owner was very helpful and gave us much info. Within a 15 minutes drive up to the mountain you will be in an area with spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada. We would love to come back again.

The guesthouse was fantastic - cozy, inviting, and very easy to stay in. We really enjoyed the wood stove on a couple of cool evenings in May. The mountain scenery visible from the house is spectacular. Nadia is an excellent host - attentive, helpful, and goes out of her way to provide information and insights into the local culture. We can't say enough good things about our experience in Bubion and our host. Highly recommend you visit. 10/10 rating!!

Breathtaking.

We wanted to experience the Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarra in winter. We chose Cortijo Alguaztar because it looked amazing and its location promised mountains, it more than delivered on both.The cortijo is beautiful both inside and out, and has everything one could possibly need, with well equipped kitchen, lovely bathroom and comfortable beds. Our host, Nadia, was incredibly helpful and kind.And then there are the views: snow covered high peaks to the right, the Mediterranean to the left (one can see the lights of Africa at night) and breathtaking vistas in between.We had a fabulous week and would not hesitate to recommend a stay here. Thank you Nadia!

From the moment we saw photos and read about this delightful “Eden”, we knew we wanted to experience it’s delights. Mai 2024 Das Ferienhaus ist wunderschön eingerichtet, sehr sauber und mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Es ist der schönste Blumengarten den wir je gesehen haben. Es ist schön ruhig, kein Autolärm. Die Vermieterin Nadja ist sehr sympathisch und hilft bei allen Fragen. Hemos pasado 5 dias estupendos. La casa está muy bien situada, entre Bubión y Capileira. Es ideal para descansar. El jardín es muy bonito, y muy bien cuidado. El rincón de las hamacas, con toda la vegetación alrededor y el ruido del agua de la acequia de fondo, es de 10. La casa tiene todo lo necesario, muy limpia y cuidada. Recomendable 100%, especialmente si buscas un lugar tranquilo donde desconectar.

Beautiful cottage in lovely location.

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. Inside is beautifully decorated and we found the kitchen had everything we needed. Outside is a secluded garden full of flowers with a few different places to sit - so you can be comfortable whether you want sun or shade. Nadia was a very welcoming host happy to share information about places to go and the local way of life.

Lovely home and garden.

We had a wonderful time staying in this home. There were so many interesting items to look at. The garden is beautiful and the house is very close to Bubion. Between the three villages there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops to choose from. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed several evenings just sitting in the garden, enjoying a tinto verano. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Wie im Paradies

Die Alpujarras sind toll. Aber die kleinen Orte können durchaus laut sein. Im Cortjo von Nadia ist man etwas abseits in paradisischer Ruhe, umgeben von einem herrlichen Garten, mit Blick auf die Berge und das Haus selbst ist urgemütlich. Abends, wenn es kühl wird, bringt der Kamin schnell wohlige Wärme. Es hat Spaß gemacht mit Nadia zu plaudern. Vom Haus aus kann auch direkt loswandern, ohne das Auto zu benutzen.

Fantastico!

Nadia is the loveliest owner! So helpful & friendly. The house and garden are beautiful, we felt at home as soon as we arrived. An added bonus was her 2 gorgeous cats, we were missing ours! The house itself is beautifully decorated, (you feel like you’re in Morocco!), the gardens made us reluctant to go out exploring, it’s like staying in a botanical garden. The villages, Bubion and Capilliera are both walking distance, with lovely places to eat. I would give this lovely place more then 5 stars, if I could. Thank you so much!

Great house in a great location

This house is a wonderful place to stay. The valley is a fantastic area for walking, wildlife, flowers and culture - right on the doorstep. The house itself is very well equipped - especially the kitchen. We made good use of the local information, board games and the bird guide. We spent a lot of time in the garden, which is full of flowers and butterflies. It was a pleasure to meet our hosts, and we highly recommend this property.

Charming Property

Location of property was perfect for our itinerary (mountain biking and walking). Nadia and Marco were ideal hosts; there when you needed them. The house is equipped with everything you need and the shower is fantastic. The garden is beautiful - many say the best garden for miles around - you cannot help but relax in it, be that in the shady hammocks under the willow trees or in one of three outdoor seating areas. Overall, this is the best property we have stayed in over the six years we have been going to this area and, without doubt, Nadia and Marco were the most welcoming hosts.

A hilltop paradise

We had a fabulous 11 nights at Nadia and Marco’s cortijo in Bubión. We loved the location which was halfway between the Alpujarra villages of Capileira and Bubión with a good sendera (footpath) in between. We did some nice long walks on the GR7 either from the cottage or by catching the bus in one of the villages, including the ancient mule paths near Busquístar/Pitres and the abandoned village of Cebadilla. We caught the early morning bus for a two-day stay in Granada which was very convenient. We also got the national park bus from Capileira to the base of Mulhacen (mainland Spain’s highest point) - it’s five hours up and down and you need warm clothing at the top. Nadia was on hand to provide lots of useful information and we liked eating our meals in the beautiful garden, listening to the sheep bells with her friendly cats for company. The house was well equipped and having a washing machine was very useful after such long walks. Nearby places include Órgiva and Pampaneira which had lots of places to eat although Capileira was our favourite village as it was less tourist driven. Would recommend a stay here to couples or families and a car is essential to get from Malaga airport. Thank you Nadia and Marco!

Idyllic country house

We have just returned from 2 weeks in this lovely country home. We had a wonderful time. The area is peaceful and the house is set in beautiful gardens with fantastic mountain views. We went on lovely mountain walks. There are not too many restaurants but enough to choose from. We had some amazing meals, always with excellent service. The house itself is a little gem. We would definitely visit again but perhaps in September when it is a little cooler. Fabulous place.

After working for 25 years as a school photographer I finally managed to give up the rat race and follow my passion for flamenco and travelling around the mountains with my horses. I use eco products for cleaning, and recycle or compost everything, my garden and orchard are totally organic and provide a haven for the wildlife.

Why they chose this property

The Poqueira valley and it's three villages have everything you need without having to resort to driving a car everywhere, plenty of shops/cafes/bars/restaurants within easy walking distance but sufficiently far away so as not to spoil the peace and quiet of the cortijo and it's garden. We use the cortijo for our own guests so there are family photos and a few personal possessions in the house, but also, a well equipped kitchen and large selection of books to be enjoyed by visitors.

What makes this property unique

Wonderful garden and orchard with mountain and valley views all around, acequia stream running alongside during summer and immediate access to local paths.
