This welcoming property is suitable for families or friends sharing accommodation. It is located in a small community of 9 houses in the 'El Golfet' area of Calella, one of the most beautiful coves on the Costa Brava. Both the beach and the Cap Roig botanic gardens are only 10 minutes walk away. The house is situated on a hill, so there are steps to climb to reach it. In the summer, life takes place mostly outside enjoying the terraces, gardens, built in barbeque and magnificent views. In the winter there is a magnificent open fireplace and electric heating. Garage and street parking are available. In the Summer months the nearest supermarket is in the village itself, 15 minutes walk away. In Palafrugell, the local main town, a wide selection of different supermarkets are to be found with and a daily street market. Sunday is the main market day. Calella itself, is a picturesque fishing village with waterfront restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and coves. There is plenty to see and do at all times of year. The local walking possibilities are very extensive, along the exciting coastline or inland behind the property, or a few minutes drive away in the Gavarres Hills. Girona a historic city is just 50 minutes drive away. There are many wonderful picturesque and historic villages to visit either on foot, cycling or by car.

Breath taking views in a homely villa in an idilic location

The house is great, equipped with everything you will need and plenty spacious with lots of outdoor space for long evening meals as the sun goes down. The pool is rarely busy with other guests, so will feel like it's all to yourselves. Take a scenic walk on the coastal path to Calella whilst taking in the most stunning views across the sea and over to the town harbour. There's also a near by beach of Golfet that we thoroughly enjoyed a swim during the day and watching the waves come crashing in over a picnic supper in the evening. Pure bliss. Thank you for our relaxing and beautiful stay!

Cozy house with fantastic views in a great location

We spent two wonderful weeks as guests in this house in August. The views of the sea are really fantastic and will remain in our memories. The location is also excellent: you can walk to nice beaches and coves as well as the lovely town center of Calella de Palafrugell. The community pool is great and relaxing (it's so long you can really swim) and we were often alone there. The house is very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. Many thanks to the host, Louise, for the very friendly and helpful communication and for the opportunity to spend two lovely weeks here. A clear recommendation!

Just what we needed.

We spent the most wonderful 12 nights here at the end of August/ beginning of September. The location is stunning and peaceful. Sitting on the terrace looking out to sea was so relaxing. The house is well equipped with everything we needed. It has a lovely homely feel as is the family’s second home. The kids loved the pool. Even though it’s shared we were quite often the only people in it. It’s a good size and great for adults wanting to do lengths as well as kids just having fun. There are so many lovely beaches and coves to explore on this stretch of coast. Our favourites were the little cove near the house at El Golfet - this has rocks that people were jumping off into the sea as well as great snorkeling and swimming- Tamariu, for its diving board into the sea which the kids loved and lovely beach side bars and Cala de la Fosca which is a rare sandy beach. Do take water shoes as the beaches are mostly pebbly in this area and you will need them for rock scrambling. We also visited the Salvador Dali museum in Figueres which is definitely worth a trip and the boys went to watch a match at Camp Nou which they said was a brilliant atmosphere. We stayed elsewhere in the area a few years ago but would love to return to Calella as it’s such a lovely area and we there is so much more we want to see. For younger children there is a little amusement park called Coqui Parc in Palafrugell and a lovely Pizza restaurant next door called Funky pizza. Go there rather than the cafe on site at the amusement park as the pizzas are made fresh to order. Louise the owner couldn’t have been more helpful, even posting some things back to us that we left at the house. We look forward to returning in the future.

La casa es maravillosa, Louise es la propietaria y es amable y te facilita y soluciona las consultas que puedas tener. El interior de la casa genial parece que estés en tu propia casa ya que tiene lo necesario y mucho más!! Encuentras de todo. Las habitaciones muy cómodas y amplias con lavabos incluidos menos en dos que lo tienen al lado. Las vistas increíbles se ve al fondo el mar y desde arriba de la buhardilla se puede contemplar el puerto de Calella. No puedo decir nada malo!!! La piscina grande y casi siempre estaba sola, va muy poca gente y si no haces ruido puedes hacer tú último baño del día por la noche. Seguro que se me olvidarán cosas pero tb tiene barbacoa y zona ajardinada para cenar. Una maravilla!!! Un 10!!!!

Nous avons passé un bon séjour malgré nos déboires : 1) l'annonce Ne pas avoir inclus les frais qui ont été ajoutés après notre accord et notre paiement sur la location par la propriétaire 2) le logement Très limite de propreté surtout côté cuisine (moisissure et odeurs dans les placards, vaisselle douteuse et ébréchée) 3) Chambres et salle de bain Très gênant d'avoir dans les chambres et salle de bain vêtements et autres produits du propriétaire. Gezellige woning met een prachtig uitzicht en een mooi zwembad

Wij verbleven in Calella de Palafrugell van 21 tot en met 28/08/2018 met 6 volwassenen en 2 kindjes in een gezellige woning met een mooi zwembad en een prachtig zicht op zee. Het is een mooi vissersdorp met knappe baaien en gezellige straten, vooral het strandje van El Golfet is prachtig. Er zijn mooie wandelwegen langs de zee en een bezoek aan de Jardin Botanique Cap Roig is ook de moeite waard. Verder zijn er in de buurt nog verschillende dorpen om eens te gaan bezichtigen. Voor herhaling vatbaar.

agréable villa très bien située

Confortable (sauf les matelats qui devraient être remplacés) et spacieuse villa avec vue splendide, magnifique piscine commune que nous avions presque pour nous tout seuls. Par contre nous avons été surpris de trouver la cuisine presque vide des premières denrées : pas d'huile, pas de vinaigre, pas de café, pas de savon.....alors que le mois précédent nous avions loué une villa en Grèce où nous attendaient dans le frigo: une bouteille de vin local, de la bière et une bouteille de lait.....sans compter café, thé et miel : un coût minime mais qui fait qu'on se sent accueilli !

Nous avons été très contents de passer nos vacances dans cette maison. Nous connaissions Calella et la vue de la terrasse a été un bonheur de chaque instant de profiter de ces paysages si contrastés par rapport aux nôtres (la montagne). La résidence est très tranquille et bien fleurie, la piscine (que nous avons eu presque pour nous seul) est grande. Cette maison un peu vieillissante, équipée en maison secondaire, est très agréable pour nous y retrouver presque chez soi. Si vous nous permettez je vous donnerai tout de même les quelques points négatifs que nous avons trouvés: - le peu de verre adulte, je pense qu’un tout petit investissement apporterait du confort quand on reçoit du monde (une huitaine de verre à pied). - l’absence d’un barbecue électrique ou gaz. Dans de nombreuses locations maintenant cela se trouve et simplifie vraiment la cuisine extérieure (versus le charbon de bois). - le manque de pression dans la douche du troisième étage. Malgré cela nous conseillons cette maison les yeux fermés autant par la qualité de l’environnement que par la qualité de l' accompagnement des propriétaires.

Un logement idéal pour nos vacances

Nous avons passé un moment merveilleux dans ce logement qui est très bien décrit. La villa est très bien équipée, il ne nous a rien manqué pendant le séjour. Nous y avons séjourné à 6 adultes et 4 enfants sans jamais avoir l'impression d'être aussi nombreux du fait du nombre de pièce et de l'espace. La vue sur la Méditerranée est éblouissante et rappelle à chaque instant la chance d'être en vacances sur cette côte. Nous connaissons bien la baie de Llafranc et Calella pour y être venu souvent et avons apprécié le calme qui règne à cette extrémité de la baie. Le petit jardin au premier niveau avec barbecue et point d'eau nous a permis de petit-déjeuner, déjeuner et dîner dehors en grand nombre sans être gêner ni par le soleil ni par le vent. Et dieu sait si les français accordent de l'importance aux repas ! La plage d'El Golfet située en contrebas est la plus sauvage des plages de Calella mais fantastique pour se baigner tranquille et est un petit paradis pour les amateurs de palme masque et tuba. La piscine est à quelques marches et visible des 2 balcons pour surveiller et rappeler les enfants Si vous préférez des plages plus animées ou une ballade dans le centre du village, comptez 15mn de marche. Les propriétaires nous ont accueillis et présentés le logement avant de s'effacer discrètement en nous laissant un numéro de portable si besoin. Nous recommanderions ce logement à des amis et le louerons à nouveau dans les années à venir. 3 familles françaises heureuses de leur séjour.

The area and local beach were beautiful. However due to the closure of the local shop we were required to use the car every day- or face an almost 1 hour return walk to the gorgeous Calella de Palafrugell. The outside of the villa with the pool and garden were first class, we spent every morning breakfasting on the balcony admiring the views. The children loved the pool. Inside the villa was spacious and everything needed in a kitchen. Due to the heat, we were unable to use the top room as it was unbearably hot, despite keeping the shutters closed all day, my 18yr old and 10yr old daughters shared the bunk beds. However this might only be a problem in extremely hot weather. The owners were very helpful pre and post stay, but we did have one major complaint- wifi! This is advertised as being available, but it was a limited allowance for occasional message checking, we were unable to download e books as planned, Skype my mother, as planned, or many other things we had assumed we would be able to do with wifi. If I had known there would be little sometimes no Internet, I would have planned differently. A mixed review reflecting mixed feelings, shame about the lack of local facilities, and Wifi, an amazing beach, garden and local town.

Perfect Family Villa with Stunning Coastal Views

Just back from an excellent relaxing 2 week family summer holiday exploring the Costa Brava and resting at the villa and pool. The villa listing description gave a true account of the location, layout and facilities. The villa is spacious, well equipped with plenty of private out door space including a purpose built bbq. The villa is in an excellent location within walking distance to centre of Calella. Alternatively there is a frequent bus service to the centre of town and also serving neighbouring coastal towns. The property was clean, well maintained and as described by the owners is homely. The owners were very helpful leading up to our stay and met us at the airport. We would recommend this property to friends or relatives and are hoping to visit again to see more of this beautiful area.

Instant relaxation. Having dropped in at the supermarket on the drive from the airport, we didn't move from the house for two days. No need - everything is just perfect where you are. A choice of three terraces! to lounge around on, all with stunning views out to sea. A large swimming pool which we had to ourselves 90% of the time. Great stereo for a bit of music with early evening drinks (You might want to bring a few CD's if you are not into Jazz or Eric Clapton). Cool barbecue area - even has parsley growing next to it to stuff in your fresh Sea Bass. Then a choice of very comfortable settees around the fire should you should want to move inside later. Louise and Werner were there to meet us when we arrived. They quickly explained everything in the house and gave us local directions. So when you do venture out - its a short walk straight down to one of the most breathtaking little beaches on this coast (5 mins). And an enchanting walk along the coastal path, which hugs the cliffs, in and out of tunnels, with view after view till you reach the town of Calella. Calella is a beautiful old largely unspoilt fishing town. Our favorite restaurants were the little fish places, slightly off the beaten track ie not in the central promenade. There you need to enjoy the Ice cream place. Its a maze of little streets and bays/beaches strung out along the coast. Its typical of this beautiful unspoilt part of the Costa Brava. Lots of cliffs and coves, but this also means lots of hills and steps. If you are infirm the whole location is probably not the best place to choose. But if you are into relaxing, swimming (pool and sea), walking coast paths, cycling in the mountains, eating fish, barbecuing, drinking wine and beer - Werner even has chilled beer steins ready in the freezer! - then this could be the place for you. We were 4 adults, but this place could comfortably accommodate 8. Writing this I just wish we were back there. Thanks Louise and Werner I'm sure we'll be back.

Happy hols

This was excellent accommodation for us with plenty of areas in the house to find our own space as we were three couples plus. Its an attractive property inside and out, the photos don't do it justice, well kept gardens all round and excellent clean swimming pool. There is a decent nearby shop and lovely shingle/sand beach cove at the bottom of the hill, meant our teenagers could cater for themselves when necessary. The owners were very accommodating when we had to adjust our plans, and very helpful with advice and recommendations. Eating out I recommend the Hotel Gabi, great food at a reasonable price. Everyone had a great time, We'd book again in a heartbeat.

The Mediterranean way of life suits us and we enjoy sharing a part of our life with local and international guests, who like us, are keen to enjoy and explore the wonderful Costa Brava.

Why they chose this property

I came to Calella with my family when I was a child. I had always had fond memories of this delightful spot. Soon after arriving in Madrid we came to explore the Costa Brava area and I found that the heart of the village was as I remembered.

We fell in love with the the fishing village atmosphere, the beautiful coves, the clear sea, the unspoilt local countryside and the wonderful light at all times of year.

Our house is in a quiet area, 10 minutes walk away from the spectacular Botanic Gardens. The house has privileged coastal views and is set in a small development of 9 houses that enjoy community gardens and a swimming pool.

What makes this property unique

It has been decorated and equipped with care, to meet the needs of a growing family. All friends and family that come from afar to visit, agree that we have found a spot in paradise, where the stresses of life in the fast lane are easily forgotten. There is no direct street access from the house to the road and guests have the choice of two stairways to ascend before arriving at the house. It is not suitable for someone who has mobility problems. The views on arrival are worth the climb. Local supermarkets deliver shopping if needed. The garden is on two levels with a stone table in one corner, which is great for children's creative activities. There is a lawn for relaxing on, a barbeque area and plenty of space for eating around the other garden tables that are available.
