Beautiful spot, Sue and Craig are lovely hosts and very helpful. Ducks and cats stole the show. Worth returning to for another stay, could have sat by the lake all day.
Lovely place and fantastic location, Craig and Sue were great. Plenty of knowledge to give where the petrol stations were, supermarkets and places of interest. We loved our honeymoon here and would definitely return in the future. Thank you both for a great relaxing time.
Enjoyed a relaxing, peaceful week, went out in the mornings visiting the nearby towns and villages, then home to sit by the lake listening to the birdsong. Enjoyed the fishing and the ducks which kept us company ! Overall a fantastic week, very lucky with the weather, we hope to return in the near future. Thank you Craig and Sue for being so helpful and welcoming.

Sleepy Hollow!
What a fabulous little place. It nestles near the top of a small valley in it's own secluded little hollow, quite literally in the middle of nowhere. You won't hear any traffic noise, just birdsong, (and ducks!). The cottage is cosy, with a decent bathroom & a good sized bedroom, (if you're not too mobile the stairs could be a bit tricky). We spent two weeks in blissful peace and quiet, in the company of woodpeckers, kingfishers, herons, jays, kestrels, buzzards, ducks, and a deer, and the fishing is good as well. Would we go back?.. YES!!. Everything about the place, including Sue and Craig, made it a teriffic holiday.
Even though some of the weather wasn't ideal the stay at Sue and Craig's cottage was joyful. Normally takes us a couple of days to de-stress on holidays. Not here. A couple of hours. The aspect of the lake has an unbelievably good effect on you. The cottage is even better than the photos on the website. Large amounts of space and great comfort.
Some of the sunsets are brilliant. The wild life is incredible and the ducks great fun.
The test result here is we only went out in the evening 3 times in a fortnight. It was so enjoyable to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down over a BBQ. We would both thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Nice host but property very old and tired and dirty as we needed to hoover everywhere and clean the shower. Walls covered in cobwebs which was a real shame as o lovely location. We left after two days and moved elsewhere which cost us an additional £500. Plus the stairs to the bedroom were too steep and dangerous and this should be mentioned in the advertisement and a large frog lived under the settee that appeared in the last day to say goodbye.

Rustic idyll
I don't usually write reviews, however I was so saddened by one of the reviews on here that I felt moved to respond. This little place by a pretty lake is one of our favourite spots in France, We love it because of the cleanliness, care and attention to detail that has been put into this lovely little hideaway in such a peaceful rural spot. I guess that being so rural and tranquil isn't everybody's cup-of-tea. The butterflies flutter past, there are ducks and bees and yes....the odd spider making a web.....and that is why we personally think that this is a little bit of paradise! If we do want to get out and about, there are some very pretty villages....several noted as being "villages fleuris". The stunningly beautiful city of Fougeres is close by and is our favourite day out. We will return......

A piece of paradise
This is a truly wonderful retreat to relax and unwind. The cottage is so pretty it was clean and everything you needed was there. From the moment we arrived sue & Craig could not of been more welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them, their knowledge of the area was invaluable and they even helped us to view a house which without them there could of proved quite difficult with the language barrier!! The setting is just beautiful and the sunset is not be missed to be honest the photos do not do it justice you have to be there to take in the wonderful views & the tranquility of it all.We didn't venture out much but St.Hiliare and vitre we visited and would recommend both, there is a good restaurant nearby which is well worth the money. The ducks & chickens give good entertainment !! you can't help but just love them. I would recommend anybody to stay here in fact we booked for next year whilst we were there & within hours of arriving home the ferry was booked .Sue & Craig we cannot thank you enough for the truly wonderful holiday we had
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour: calme, tranquillité, paysage reposant, hôtes très accueillants et adorables. Bravo!Thank you so much Craig and Sue
We had an amazing time here. The owners were brilliant. Craig was so helpful in finding us a place to get our PCR tests done for coming back to the UK. It'd a lovely spot and so peaceful by the lake with just the ducks for company.
Met by lovely hosts who were helpful friendly and non intrusive. Well equipped home, peaceful setting 5m from river. 3 min drive to supermarket and restaurant. Good base to explore a beautiful part of France. Would recommend without doubt.
A lovely little cottage in a perfect spot. We loved our stay, it was a lovely peaceful place where we could just unwind and enjoy our break. The lake was a real bonus and the ducks brought smiles to our faces each day. Our hosts, Sue and Craig, are lovely people and nothing was too much trouble. Our only regret is that we didn't book for two weeks.
Sehr nettes kleines Häuschen mit tollem Flair. Kleiner Teich mit Enten.. Sehr erholsam. Wunderschöne Aussicht.

A lovely gite in a beautiful location
Craig and Sue were the perfect hosts. They were helpful when needed without being too attentive. The gite was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The lake was occupied by a family of ducks who very quickly became our 'welcome home brigade'.
We found plenty of places to visit during our three-week stay, and the 'plat de jour' at the Lion d'Or restaurant was a regular highlight.
I would recommend this gite to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting.

Great gite
First of all a big thank you to Sue and Craig : you are great hosts.
We had a wonderful week in La Blanchardière. Everything you need for a short stay is there. On colder days the wood burner keeps you warm. During our stay (End of April) we used it every day.
Very nice idyllic place, great to relax. sitting on the terrace and watching and feeding the ducks. They are instant friends as soon as you feed them :)
We definitely recommend this gite !

Quelle jolie surprise !!!

too rustic !!
we read the reviews and looked at the photos, so why was this the worst place we had stayed in france ?.The cottage was not at all clean we had to do it when we arrived , the shower drain was blocked with hair, and the kitchen ceiling was covered in brown grease, which we could not clean off.All the windows were covered in cobwebs and dirty (very rustic), please don't look behind the settee as we did or you are in for a shock (we left that insect grave yard for the owners). On the safety side the stairs are very steep open tread with no hand rail , when we told the owners they said they may put in a rope ,I am not joking !, this is a pity because the area is great and not to far from the coast for a day out . All this place needs is a little TLC and a good clean
