Munising Area - Walking Distance to Lake Superior - Located in Christmas

The Getaway is a newer remodeled cabin with 2 bedrooms (Master bedroom has a king size bed - 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds), and 1 bath (shower) located in the cozy village of Christmas located just a few miles west of Munising.

The Getaway Cabin has a flat screen TV with service provided by Jamadots internet/WIFI, tv channels. There is a DVD player with assorted movies for guests to enjoy. Assorted games, books and puzzles are available as well. The decor theme features pictures and maps of Munising & Lake Superior representing the interesting history of the area.

The full size kitchen has all new appliances and is fully equipped with all the eating utensils and cookware. There is a big backyard with a picnic table, a gas grill for all of your outdoor cooking, and a fire pit for your evening camp fires (4 campfire chairs provided). The neighborhood access to Lake Superior is approximately 350'. You can launch your own kayak from the beach. The ATV trailhead is located across the road behind the Casino.

Walking distance: Lake Superior, Christmas Casino, Furnace Bay National Park, Duck Pond Eatery & Beer Garden, Foggy's Restaurant/Bar. ATV Rentals located next to the Casino.

What could be better than a cabin a block from the beach? Perfect place to stay. Easy access to Munising and points beyond. Quiet neighborhood. Everything we needed was available. Communication with owner could not have been better. Our pups were very content. They enjoyed running free in the yard. Clean, lovely, everything to cook. We hope to return very soon.

Fantastic

Very close to all the Pictured Rocks attractions, waterfalls and beaches. The house was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our dogs loved the fenced in backyard. The on-site campfire wood for sale was very convenient. Karen really went above and beyond to make my birthday getaway great.

Cozy, convenient, and clean

We really enjoyed our stay. The host was really kind, communicative and thoughtful. She thought of everything and we appreciated having all of the conveniences already available in the cabin. It made packing less stressful. The location was perfect for many waterfalls/ hiking trails, rock hunting, and pictured rocks. We were able to do all of the activities we were interested in doing in the area. We found a great fresh fish market and grilled delicious lake trout. We also discovered a cool sculpture park (Lakenland) and highly recommend it. The backyard was private and quiet. We were happy to hang out and grill in the backyard while our standard poodle had a safe outdoor space to relax in.

Comfortable and Perfect Location

Our family of 4 and dog stayed in August and enjoyed the cabin amenities and location. Super comfortable beds, had everything you would need and location was perfect for being our home base exploring the UP.

Great cabin in an excellent location

I stayed here with my husband and our dog for a few nights, and it was perfect! It's steps from a nice beach on Lake Superior, right next to a restaurant, and an easy drive to Munising and Pictured Rocks. The fenced yard was especially nice so that we could let our doggie off leash while we used the picnic table. I would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.

The house was great. Loved all of the pine paneling. Kitchen was well stocked and the backyard grill and fire pit were a lot of fun. Very short walk to the shores of Lake Superior was so convenient. Great location for enjoying the things to do in Munising like hiking,boat trips to Pictured Rocks,etc.

One of our favorites

We’ve stayed here several times. It’s a great location, very clean and perfect for our needs. Karen is very responsive and easy to work with. Our only wishes would be bath towels and better lamps for reading.

Cabin getaway

The cabin worked well for our stay- allowing us to explore in both directions. Only 5-10 minutes to get to restaurants in Munising. Karen was a great host-- we had a few issues during our stay and Karen was quick to respond and solved the problem She was very kind and gracious- in our interactions and compensating us for the issues that arose. We would stay again if we come to beautiful Pictured Rocks area again!

Great location for Pictured Rocks activities

The cottage was a short drive from kayaking, boat tours, Sand Point Beach and several trail heads. We enjoyed using the fire pit and appreciated the kitchen supplies that were provided. Karen reached out to make sure everything was satisfactory on our arrival. We enjoyed our stay in Christmas and at Pictured Rocks.

Cabin was very nice. Very close to everything to do in munising. The host was easy to contact. back yard was private and we made a couple fires in the fire pit. We had a nice stay in Christmas. Hopefully can do it again in a year.

Perfect home base

Great location close to Munising; we did a lot of day trips from here-Grand Marais, Seney Wildlife Refuge, Marquette, Lakenenland, many waterfalls and lighthouses…Lots of restaurant choices nearby plus a casino. Short walk 1/2 a block to dip your toes in Lake Superior! Very clean, great fenced in back yard, and plenty of room for a couple or a couple with 2 kids. Plus a great host!

Great getaway

We enjoyed our stay at the Getaway Cabin. It was a great location for exploring Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, local waterfalls, and Lake Superior area. Cabin was cozy and clean and the backyard space with fire pit was perfect for enjoying time with our pup. Karen always communicated in a timely manner and was very accommodating. We would definitely come back!

Picture Perfect in Pictured Rocks

We really enjoyed our stay and Karen was great at sending updates and messages. She even offered early check in check out which was incredibly kind. The beds were comfortable although nothing beats a pillow from home! Everything was clean including the yard which both my dogs loved! The sofas are cloth though, so we made sure to bring king sheets from home (my best idea yet lol) to cover them because our dogs shed like nothing else even though they did a great job staying off the furniture. The location is perfect. I had fun walking down the street and being at the lake or a quick car ride to one of the beach areas. All the tours are about 8 minutes away which made planning easy. My favorite part was that the oven/stove worked! There is a little guesswork needed to make sure its fully preheated but if my hubby can figure it out anyone can lol! While we love eating out I try to always have a cost effective trip so a working kitchen is essential. I do recommend never leaving your dog unattended in the yard though because it isn't fool proof in the back or at the gate so just be aware (I don't really think you should ever do that in a area you don't know but thought I should add it in). Altogether it was a nice easy stay in a great location with tons to do. I would definitely come again and recommend to friends!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean, cozy, well-maintained little cabin. It is only a 15 minute drive from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, where we spent a few days blissfully hiking, and we were so glad to come home to the cabin in the evening. Since we like to do our own cooking, we were pleased that the kitchen was so well-supplied. We appreciated the gas grill in the backyard also (and would have used the yard more if it had been warmer!). Karen is a friendly hostess who was very communicative about the cabin and the check-in process. She even surprised us with an anniversary gift upon check-in. I would definitely stay here again. The personal touch makes a lot of difference.
