About this property
Large Tudor Manor House with Private Jacuzzi & Indoor Pool, Sleeps Max 20.
Pekes Manor house is our largest, oldest and most historic house. It is on 3 floors, with oak beam ceilings, panelled rooms, and many beautiful pieces of furniture and interesting pictures. Approached up an old brick path guarded by yews, the picturesque porch opens into an oak-panelled Hall with a beautiful 16th century fireplace. From there you enter the large wood-panelled dining room, with polished wood floor, which has a cosy open fireplace at one end and a large dining table that seats 12, but can be extended to seat up to 26 comfortably. Beyond that there is a comfortable TV room, a kitchen annex for preparing food and washing up (with 2 sinks, electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge freezer), and finally the large fully-equipped picturesque old kitchen with its original brick floor, oak beams, a huge old working open fireplace, a 4-door oil fired Aga and a microwave, with seating for at least 12 people. The kitchen has its own entrance door and looks out over beautiful countryside. There is a wood-panelled shower room/toilet off the front hall. Access to the upper floors is by front and back stairs.
On the first floor are 6 bedrooms, of which 3 are doubles, 2 are twins and one is a single. There is a bathroom with tub at each end of the corridor, and a shower room, all of these have WCs. Stairs lead up to the second floor, on which there are two triple-bedrooms (one with a double and a single, the other with three singles) and a twin.
If more accommodation is required, the house has an access door directly into the Wing, a self-contained unit that sleeps up to 6 extra people. This can be booked separately, or at the same time.
The house has a Jacuzzi, large private garden with an extensive lawn, BBQ and games room. Guests can use the lawn badminton and croquet, the indoor swimming pool, tennis court and wander round the extensive garden and park.
Pekes is a quiet rural estate in the middle of the East Sussex Wealden countryside in sight of the Downs, and provides excellent access to the sea, the beautiful Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, the seaside towns of Brighton and Eastbourne, and many interesting inland places such as Lewes. Pekes guests can also book other houses at Pekes - which with the Manor house sleep 60+ people.

About the host
Hosted by Kildare Borrowes

I am Kildare, cousin of the owner Eva Morris, and I look after all the bookings for her.
I am a writer and gardener, and particularly interested in the history of Sussex and its landscapes, its painters and its gardens. Like for most people I find there are few greater pleasures in life than walking along the nearby South Downs with the sea cliffs on the one side and the ancient sheep pastures on the other.

Why they chose this property
There is a huge sense of history at Pekes, an ancient Wealden hall house built in the 1470s with quite a few of its old features left in place. Eva's grandfather bought it in 1908, and little has changed since his day except facilities, comfort and warmth has been added. It has elegant gardens, parkland, lovely trees and wonderful views over the landscape.
What makes this property unique
Timelessness, peace, gardens, country walks, the sniff of the sea, loads of nearby activities and attractions.
