A beautiful, rustic, family property with a big pool, fantastic outdoor dining area and stunning views of the hilltop village of Le Bar sur Loup. Some quirky things, such as the electrics - took us a day or two to find/figure out all the light switches. The house itself is comfortable but we struggled with the heat and humidity, despite the ceiling fans in every room (there is no air conditioning). This was especially the case at night as we had to shut the doors and windows to keep the mosquitos out.Due to the remote and mountainous location, it is essential to have a (small) car to get anywhere, even if it’s just to get to the supermarket or to dispose of your household rubbish. The walk to the nearest bars, restaurants and shops (in Le Bar Sur Loup) is very steep, without pavements at times, and taxing in the summer heat. As Brits in a family-sized hire car, we found driving to be extremely challenging as many of the roads locally are narrow, rocky, and have hairpin bends. This meant that we did not get to explore the area as we had hoped. However, Audrey and Florent (who manage the property and who live next door) were extremely helpful in advising us, and responded quickly to all other questions and queries that we had.Communication was also very good with the host, Camilla, prior to our arrival.
