About this property
Converted Watermill With Beautiful River And Majestic Mountains On Doorstep
Follow the river to find Y Felin – a beautifully converted 16 century water mill in the breathtaking Dysynni Valley and Snowdonia National Park. Lying beneath the majestic mountain of Cader Idris and within walking distance of Llyn Mwyngil (Tal y Llyn), set into the hillside in a peaceful and secluded riverside location. Sympathetically restored to retain its distinctive features: the surroundings are light, airy and welcoming.
Fully equipped kitchen (Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, cooker, fridge, dishwasher, toaster) great open plan living space with huge comfy sofas, a wood burner, and picture windows onto the stunning landscape.
Large outdoor space takes in all the views and has table, chairs, BBQ. Fenced private 'garden' of approx 2 acres - please note the river is unfenced and there are short steep drops in the garden.
The house sleeps up to 8 guests in 3 bedrooms (please note the third bedroom is two bunk beds and not a large room). The master bedroom has private access to the river and a wood-burner. The house offers retreat, relaxation, natural beauty, fine linens and the perfect blend of quality time and access to activities. Nearby are thriving historic market towns including Machynlleth (weekly market and CAT) and the seaside town of Aberdyfi with its miles of sandy beaches, outdoor activities and yachting. Plenty of local leisure opportunities including mountain biking at Coed Y Brenin, fishing, kayaking, sailing, mountaineering. Visit castles, zip wires, steam trains. Or just stay indoors and watch beautiful, natural world go by through the big picture windows. Y Felin has very good WiFi (free), TV, separate utilities room with washing machine and dryer.

About the host
Hosted by Ruth Tudor

My name is Ruth and I own Y Felin. I grew up in the area, my family have lived in the valley as far back as the middle ages. I have a deep love of the land and locality and the diversity it offers and a wish to help others to enjoy this. I will manage your booking from start to finish and am happy to answer any questions you have about my houses or about the local area.
Why they chose this property
Y Felin was originally a working watermill used for grinding corn. It is situated on farmland which belonged to my parents and when the farm was passed to me in 2009, I made the decision to restore this beautiful house using local materials and offer it as a holiday let to those seeking some peace. It’s location next to the river and in front of the mountain make it a wonderful retreat and my family and I often come here. The house is still surrounded by working farmland which is managed by a great young farmer called Will Jones as we now live on a smaller farm near Monmouth.
