Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are so pleased that you had such a lovely stay and that Poppy House worked so well for your reunion!
This is a very comfortable and spacious house, we particularly liked the outdoor seating area. It was lovely to come in from the beach and for us all to enjoy a shower with plenty of hot water.
The house is close to a busy road, which is quite noisy at times.
Hunstanton is a lively town with a good atmosphere and lots to do for all ages. We however preferred Holme beach, you do have to book the car park in school holidays.
10 adults, a toddler and a dog stayed at Poppy House for 2019/2020 New Year.
Spacious house with everything you need and more!
Excellent location for the beach and town.
We all agreed it was one of the best New Years we’ve had.
Plenty of room to eat together and big enough if you wanted time to yourself.
Excellent showers and very comfortable beds.
Great communication with the owner.
We would definitely recommend this house to anyone.

Thank you so much for your review Cheryl! It's brilliant to hear that you all had such a great stay and that the house and location suited your needs so well. We hope to accommodate you again one day!
The property is located on the corner of a main road however we didn’t find it too noisy. The bedrooms are all very spacious as are the bathrooms. The kitchen is well fitted out and has ample crockery and glasses etc which is often not the case in a holiday let. Also the games and books were a nice touch.
We did feel that the cleanliness could’ve been a bit better; they’re were crisps left out on the shelf of the coffee table and crumbs around the back of the toaster. One of the duvet covers also had a stain on- whilst I’m sure it was clean and washed, it didn’t look that appealing. The sofas in the lounge are a bit sunken and not the most comfortable!
Overall a pleasant stay at the house and the location is great, five minutes walk to the seafront. A great space for families.

Thank you for taking the time to review Rudy and for the constructive feedback which we can now use to improve future stays. It was disappointing to hear that things were less than perfect. We are glad that other aspects of your stay were positive.

Bad experience
When we arrived at the property, there was a strong smell of animals so we had to open all doors to air it. Upstairs, a blind fell on us as we tried to close it. Other than that we had a pleasant stay, but my experience after check out was very unpleasant. I received a very curt email from the owner accusing us of bringing a dog to the property (which we didn't) and informing me that she was withholding the majority of our deposit as a result. After several emails back and forth and my having to get Home Away to intervene as I hadn't received a response in a week, the owner acknowledged that we were not responsible for the costs she supposedly incurred and I managed to get most of the deposit back. In the end I agreed to pay £60 just to draw a line under what was a very disappointing and unpleasant experience but I very much feel like I was taken for a ride. Would not stay here again and certainly would not recommend if you expect to get your damage deposit back.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experiences of your stay at Poppy House. However, for clarity and in fairness to other guests reading this review when choosing a property I would like to clarify a few points.
Firstly, it is important to note that in 5 years of bookings I have only had to retain a very small amount of the damage deposit from ONE other guest so this stay is not reflective of other guest's experiences. Unfortunately my experienced housekeeper found the property in a less than adequate state at check out. The house was left in a mess with balloon confetti and other remains of the stay left on the floors, the rubbish and recycling had not been sorted properly, with general rubbish in the recycling bins, nor had it been removed from the property into the outside bins. The lounge carpet was stained which required professionally cleaning ahead of the next guests arriving. Windows were left wide open when at check out posing a security risk to the property. Candles had been burnt and remains left.
The house folder clearly states guidelines about how to care for and leave the property and unfortunately this party fell short of our expectations, in turn resulting in additional costs, hence my request to retain some of the damage deposit to claw back those costs.
I was in open and direct communication with the guest regards my concerns and we reached an agreement without HomeAway needing to intervene. As an owner I was left out of pocket from this stay but we both agreed on the sum witheld to draw a line under the negative experience for us both.
As you will see from the 58 other reviews on this site and the reviews on other booking sites we use, this stay is not reflective of other guest's experiences.
Super house, spacious, conveniently located with all the "stuff" you need
Really good comms with Sara the property owner who quickly organised somebody to fix an issue with a non working bathroom light. Really spacious house for our group of 8 that ranged from 4 - 82 years old. The house had EVERYTHING you might need for your stay - beach games, fishing nets, washing machine, nespresso, cool block, huge fridge freezer, dishwasher....... (I could go on). Front garden was nice to sit out in after breakfast although the road noise was a bit louder than ideal. Sara has lots of great restaurant recommendations & we tried many of them! Would definitely recommend this property.
A very impressive house offering excellent accommodation for our family and dog. Well equipped in every way - toys, games, beach equipment, superb barbecue. All the electric equipment one could want. Very comfortable beds. We loved the easy access to the superb beaches and town which offered everything that we required. So we all can say excellent.

Family birthday
Had a great time with 3 generations together for a 65th birthday. Poppy House was just the right size for 10 people (aged 3 to 65) with plenty of space for the whole family. Facilities were good and location close to Hunstanton was ideal. Just a short walk to the promenade.

Lovely house, great location.
We really enjoyed our weekend at this property. However it is clear that the ground floor doesn't heat up sufficiently. Despite following your instructions and turning down the radiators upstairs, the ground floor was still chilly.
The house is well equipped with everything you could possibly need and has lots of character.
I'm sure we would get the best experience of the house and the area if we stayed in the summer, but nevertheless we still enjoyed our walks on Hunstanton beach.
